Marcus found the perpetual ignorance of the people he constantly had to deal with truly astounding. He wasn't bitter, no, he was genuinely astounded that the people that called themselves 'heros' couldn’t handle the simple villains that they were faced with. They all kept going soft on these murders and villains, not willing to go the extra mile to be rid of them, so they kept coming back again and again. Then again these were the same people who complained about spandex and how the avengers got all the attention up in new york when they were doing work down in Miami.

Yes because putting a few villains away and stopping hurricanes was exactly what the world wanted to see? How about that battle in hong kong Marcus was at two weeks ago? Now THAT was a battle, he didn't even know how that guy got those nuke plans but he wouldn’t be doing anything with them without arms, it wasn't Marcus' fault he walked in front of a saw blade he had created… twice. Alright so maybe the second time was his fault but no one seemed to upset about it considering the guy lived and had been planning to blow up most of the world.

Marcus dodged some flying debris as it flew by his head, disrupting his thoughts, the heroes around him were fighting tooth and nail against some guy they put away a week ago who had just broke out of prison… again. He was a wall of a man who like to hurl giant rocks at people's heads, tossing them around like pebbles, and that would be all good and well if he also didn't faze from place to place and try to tackle people through the earth with his seemingly never ending momentum. The guy was the worst human bulldozer and thanks to his phasing he was damn hard to stop.

Of course the last time Marcus had just made quick sand to stop the guy but this time… this time he was letting the other get a bit bruised up so they knew better than to just let this guy walk without an consequences. Marcus dodged another rock and threw one back, stepping around one of the other Heroes that was just knocked to the ground, there was only four of them to take care of this and last time they had almost needed one of the A team to step in. Or at least the others needed it, if they would just let Marcus use excessive force than the problem would be taken care of, instead they tried to "subdue" a man that wanted to eviscerate them.

Marcus caught sight of a certain other hero he knew well, and quite liked seeing, of course the distraction was just enough to get his in the chest by a rock. Marcus hit the ground, the rock more of a small boulder now sitting n his chest, and pushed the boulder off before coughing as he sat up. He glared at the blur of movement, anger rising quickly and starting to boil over, he was minding his own business! Wasn't even attacking the guy! Geez you try to be nice, alright he wasn't going to be nice in a few minutes, now though… now the game was up.

Marcus pushed himself up, the tight fit of the dark blue suit not really pulling the right way, before he ran at the bulldozer like man and went to punch him. The man phased and Marcus grinned, bending down and turning the ground to quick sand beneath the other mans feet before giving him a swift kick in the jaw. "That's twice! Are you slow or something!?" He growled out then felt his leg grabbed and quickly switched the ground back to asphalt as he was bodily thrown into someone.

This was ridiculous and an utter waste of time. This always happened, they always escaped. There was no place they could hold these people, there was no where these villains could be sent. All anybody could do was hold them until they escaped, which was usually a week or month tops after the initial apprehension of the villain. It was frustrating and it irritated Leon. He was tired of going against the same people all the time, he began to wonder why nobody in Miami was asking the same questions he was. Before he joined this little ragtag group of heroes, he did his own work, often doing it for money. It was an easy life, things changed when he met this group and they brought him in. Then again, it was also his choice to join. Though a change of scene might be nice. Now look at it, they were fighting the same villains, they were doing the same things day after day.

The big oaf was just hurling boulders at them left and right. As one came at him, Leon reached out and absorbed the energy that was used to throw the boulder. The energy took on a red light as he used it to break the boulder down and disintegrate it and hurl the energy back a him. It hit him, he stumbled back but righted himself and kept going. This one was always annoying to deal with. The rocks just coming at them, they seemed to get larger and larger. Where did he get all of these?! This was Miami, not like there was a whole lot of boulders around to just pick up off the rode side.

Leon wanted this to end now and just like before, put this guy away. He was beginning to feel jaded. Life was repetitive, he was beginning to wonder if he should just leave and go back to being a 'glorified hero'. Just as he finish breaking down another large boulder and readying to throw it back to him, something came towards him and knocked right into him. The ball of energy flew off as Leon caught him with one arm, steadying him and holding him close so he wouldn't fall. "Now who's the slow one?" Leon teased with a smile. He cursed then dove out of the way with Marcus in his arms, dodging a large boulder.

"Will somebody just secure him?!" Leon yelled to the others as the other two ran in to subdue the large man. They struggled to get his large hands in the metal cuffs that covered the man's hands completely. Leon stood up and helped Marcus to his feet before walking over to the large man that was still stuck in asphalt. Leon sighed. He knew he would be getting out in a few weeks or so and they'd be back to playing the same song, the same game and this villain would continue to fall for the same tricks from Marcus.

Marcus huffed as the other helped him to his feet, not really wanting to admit it was a big help, before everyone was jumping on the big tank like guy and securing him. "Why can't we just kill this guy already?" He didn't realize it had actually slipped into the one, that rampant thought, until he had four eyes staring at him in fear and curiosity. Then suddenly anger because they were "hero's" they jus didn't do that kind of thing but to be truthful it would solve a lot of problems for the whole of miami. Marcus watched the air build up in Magnums lungs, the leader of their little ragtag group of heros, before he was leaving the other two to hold down the big guy as he stepped forward to give the same speech he gave every time.

"You know exactly why we can't do that Mal.-" Okay well that part was a bit knew and he was calling him by his hero name which was also know… though it wasn't that interesting of a hero name. He had joked he just really liked SciFi movies and most people would have no idea what it was a play off of. "Stop suggesting such stupid things. We will put him in jail like we do and then he will be dealt with by the court of law… then most likely you will get your death you so eagerly search for." Okay well this was a much more tailored speech, Marcus wondered if it had to do with the tokyo incident, but he wasn't going to ask because he was getting an a** chewing in front of a villain and that was bad enough.

"Yes sire" He gave a mock salute, hands lazy, and almost felt Magnum's glare start burning. Alright so he was trying to piss the man off but holy ******** the guy was up tight and an idiot. It wasn't long before the cops were there to pull the big guy away, roaring and raging about pay back, and then the group was shoved into a van and back to their little gathering hall, not so little and Marcus joked it was the inner sanctum, once there he pulled off his mask turned around and stood chest to mostly chest with Magnum.

"What the hell duke! You couldn’t have waited for the tongue lashing?!" The man gave Marcus a shove and their normal fight after a job well done was starting. "No because you don't seem to learn! You challenge me at every turn Marcus and I am getting real sick of it! I am the leader of this group and it's about time you learned that!" Marcus hissed at the burning sensation then looked down to see a quickly healing burn and his suit burned away. That did it, that really did it, it only took a few seconds before they were both scuffling and ended up on the ground. Marcus may have been small, certainly not the tallest or broadest of the group, but he was good in a fight from too many bar brawls and it showed well until Magnum had him face down on the ground with his hands locked behind his back.

"Every time with this s**t Marcus!" a tall young woman with dark black hair stepped forward. "Come on duke get off of him already! You know how he is!" Duke huffed and shoved Marcus once before standing and pulling off his mask. Marcus flipped over slowly and watched the other leave, glaring daggers at his back as the girl -Scarlet- checked him over. "That's it for today." Was all Duke said before he left.

Leon looked to Marcus as he finally slipped and said what he had been thinking since he joined. While the others stared at him shocked, confused and afraid, Leon grinned. He was thinking the same exact thing Marcus had just said, he just never voiced it. Not because he was a coward, but because he had voiced it to Magnum several times before and just got chewed out on it. It had just gotten to be annoying so he stopped asking, simple as that. It was about time that Marcus said something, Leon could always see it on the tip of his tongue after every capture and he never followed through with it, until now.

Leon smirked at their leader's response to Marcus' mock salute. The cops showed up and the big guy was hauled away in the car. "Twenty bucks says he stays in there for only another two weeks." He spoke to the man next to him who grinner and took his bet. "This wasn't uncommon, many bet on how long a villain would remain in jail before they broke out and before they were back to chasing them around. Leon was squeezed in the van next to Marcus. Some heroes, they arrived and left in a van.

Once back, it was almost instantly that Marcus and Duke started fighting. Like almost every other job. The others in the building gathered forward to start betting on who would win this time. Leon didn't join into this. He removed his mask and set it on a table before going to over Marcus, Scarlet walking past him. She gave him a once over before continuing on. Leon grabbed Marcus' hand and pulled him to his feet. "No point in bringing that up anymore. I've tried before. It's just going to wear you out." Leon let go of Marcus' hand. He waited until they were alone enough. "Might just go back to free lancing. What's the point anymore, right?"

Leon looked to where Duke walked away. "Duke would never understand. Born into a rick family? Going to the best schools and having everything he's ever wanted? Of course he makes himself leader, he's expected to be the righteous one. I say he needs to pull that stick from his a**." Leon patted Marcus on the back of the shoulder before walking away to get changed out of his suit. He peeled off the tight layers and sighed, feeling more and more jaded as time wore on. He had always thought that he joined this group for something better, a purpose in his life instead of money. This wasn't it, this couldn't be it. This was not what he thought it would be. Leon pulled on a plain cotton shirt with a pair of jeans before leaving the bathroom.

Marcus took the hand offered to him, Scarlet leaving to go try and calm Duke down, the man was an irritating fireball if Marcus had ever seen one and he hated it. Marcus scoffed a little at Leons words, wishing he could just drop it all and leave, but he knew what happened to most freelancers. It started off fun, great, but then they saw how evil the world really was and how wrong it really was because things are not easy on your own. One day your saving lives and the next your taking them for mercy then for fun and they you’re the monster that’s being put behind bars or losing their arms. Marcus knew how it worked, had seen it happen to a few heros, and he knew that the idea was like playing with fire.

Marcus watched Leon leave for a moment then sighed and sat on the couch in his suit. It wasn't quite as irritating for him since his was a bit looser than everyone else's. After a few minutes Marcus jumped up and went to the locker room they had to change himself, not paying any mind to Leon who was still in there but by this time mostly dressed. He pulled off his suit, revealing the torturous amount of scars he had, it was rare anyone saw them. He tried to keep his torso hidden, because there were just too many to count and they were scars… which meant they were made before his powers came.

He got his power at sixteen so all of the scars on his body were from before that and he had never bothered to tell the stories as to why they were there. He hated them, every last scar, and the person who gave them to him. Or well the people but that was another story he wasn't going to reveal to anyone. Marcus pulled his shirt on quickly before sliding the suit off the rest of the way and pulling on his pants. He was pissed at Duke, pissed at the world really, but then again there was hardly a time his hot head wasn't pissed off.

It made him a good fighter though, fueled him, not the right kind of fuel but it worked for him damn well enough. Marcus sighed and ran a hand through his hair, pulling at the brunette strands, before he looked over to Leon. "Why do you think they don't ever just kill these villains off? Obviously these people are not going to turn around so why do we have to keep putting them in prison? I just don't get it, I don't think I ever will."

Leon had his pants up when Marcus came in, he glanced to him before picking up his boots and setting them on the bench in front of the lockers. He glanced up to Marcus' body and at the scars there. It wasn't the first time he had seen them, he never asked about them of course. He pulled one boot on and tugged at the laces as he tied them up. He was on the second when Marcus finally took notice of him. "Gives them something to do I suppose. Or you, human life and values. Something like that." Leon shrugged as he removed his foot from the bench. "Let's not mention the cost of keeping them in there. We keep the citizens safe and we charge them to keep them in prison. Ridiculous." Leon shook his head. He closed the locker where he kept his suit.

Quite a few kept their suits and things in the lockers, it was often easier. Besides, it wasn't the only suit he had. Leon sighed as he stared at his locker. "You know, you're the only other one that thinks the same." Leon glanced around the locker room before facing Marcus. "Would... would you ever consider ditching Duke? Not like freelancing, but doing what he did. Making your own band of heroes and putting a stop to these guys for good?" It didn't hurt to ask and since Marcus was at odds with Duke, it was less likely that he would tell him what he asked him.

Marcus was a good fighter, he'd like to have somebody like that on his side.
