Valley of the Shifters

There is said to be a hidden valley, from which the race known as Shifter was spawned. It is a long sought after valley, that common belief says to never had existed, but not all believe it to be a myth. A small group of scholars have been constantly looking for it's location for one purpose. Sanctuary. And they think they may have found it.

Shifter's in general have been hunted, prosecuted, and enslaved for being different. Non-shifters have always been jealous of the ones who could change shape at will, and therefore have used and come up with every excuse to abuse, mistreat and outcast the poor shifters. It is bad enough that normal shifters must endure the wrath of the humans, but there are pariah even within. A special, rare bloodline of shifter has resurfaced after years of what all thought was extinction. A line of shifter that could shift between more than two forms.

If the scholars could get her, the rare shifter, to the safety of the valley, and confirm it's hypothesized location, it could mean the salvation of a their race.

Weaknesses: When she shifts into something for the first time she is as weak as a baby and has to learn how to move in the new form. Has small panic attacks if something triggers a memory of when she was taken. while learning a new form she is weakened between shifting attempts.
Special Abilities: Can shift into any living animal, can feel when something bad is about to happen
Bio: Rae grew up with two loving parents until they discovered her ability to shift into any animal after getting a family pet. After that they did their best to hide the ability but word somehow leaked and they were attacked. Both of Rae's parents were killed and she was taken. For two years Rae had to endure poking and prodding as her captors tried to see how she got her ability's and try and replicate them. After the two years the facility she was in was raided by other super natural beings and she was taken in by their leader until they could find someplace she would be safe. Now they may have found such a place but who's going to take her, especially since the facility will do anything to get her back.

Failing a job, loud and obnoxious people, large crowds, incompetence.

Confinement, sickness, death and dark small places.

Strengths:
He is skilled with both sword and bow, as well as hunting and tracking.

Weaknesses:
He has a weak esophagus, making it hard for him to breath in smokey areas or when he overexerts himself. He panics when he feels trapped and he can be overconfident.

Special Abilities:
He can see the spirits of the dead.


Bio:
Cedar was born into slavery, his mother and father both in servitude to non shifters. When he was born, his mother tried to escape, not wanting her son to know the pain and abuse of this lifestyle. She managed to make it off of the property and stay hidden. As a wolf shifter, Cedar was born in wolf form and had not yet learned how to change into a human form. His mother used this to her advantage and stole away into the woods as a wolf herself. She ran across a pack of normal wolves and begged them to take her cub as their own, explaining that humans would surely harm him and that she wanted him to be safe. The pack agreed and took young Cedar just as the guards were approaching. The wolves took off, taking Cedar with them, and his mother was never seen again.

He grew up with that pack, and though they knew he was a shifter, they treated him as one of thier own. When he became old enough, they told him that he needed to find a place of his own in this world and that they could no longer keep him with them. They were still his family though, and would aid him whenever he needed them to. He made himself a home just outside of a shifter village, not comfortable enough to be a part of their society, but close enough so that he could do business with them. He now works as a sell sword for the shifter community.

Cedar

Cedar liked to avoid going into the city as much as possible, but it had been weeks since his last job and he had received a letter informing him of a very well paying job, asking specifically for his expertise. He followed the directions in the note and came to a door. Double checking to make sure this was the place, he cracked his neck with a roll of his head and stepped nimbly up the steps. His red locks caught the sunlight brightly, reflecting the rays with a copper hue, his aquamarine eyes alert, attentive, and wary of whatever lay beyond this door.
