[PRP] What To Do

He drew a taste from the glass, internally surprised by the flavor of it. He wasn't sure what he had expected, but from his instinctive feeling of hesitation earlier, he thought that it maybe it would have been somehow unpleasant.

"I appreciate it," he said with a nod. In the explanation to follow, though, he listened with an apparent curiosity. "Are you not from the region, then?" Visiting, perhaps, or... who could say? Certainly not the amnesiac. If he was staying at a hotel, though, it felt safe to assume that at the very lease he didn't live in the immediate area.

"No, I'm not from around here," KO shook his head, taking another sip of his wine. "I'm native to Sinnoh, lived all over the place, but I moved here... mmmh, a bit more than a year ago I suppose actually. I've hardly been outside of Camphoreon though, and been too busy trying to establish myself to do as much socialising as I'd have liked to. Still, that's the price you pay for trying to forge your own path I suppose." Seemed like Luke liked the wine okay at least, which was good. When you bought a drink for somebody it was just a waste for them to not enjoy it, even if they were technically speaking your enemy.

Sinnoh, that sounded familiar... in that it was a word he thought he probably recognized. "I'm afraid I can't really relate," obviously, "but it sounds like it's been a hard time." ...It was kind of hard to carry casual conversation without any experiences to draw from. He took an awkward sip of his drink.

Awkward was defined in KO's vocabulary as 'a thing that happens to other people'; he smiled and made a languid gesture with his free hand. "Well nobody's life is all plain sailing, and I've enjoyed most of mine." He liked being alive and had spent a lot of energy on staying that way over the years. "Hopefully you'll get your memories back soon enough," KO continued seamlessly, "but if not? It's not too late for you to start over and build a new life from scratch, taking whatever direction seems right - or like it might be the most fun. Not saying I think it'll be easy of course, just that it wouldn't be the end of the world."

So far as he was concerned there were worse fates than losing your memory; the kid still had his looks and his health (so far as KO could tell) and with those there was room to do just about anything.

"Where there's life there's hope, humm?"

If any other Rockets saw him being so chatty, friendly, and more or less non-malicious with a trainer he'd probably be tossed in the brig for a spell. It wasn't like he wouldn't manipulate and harm Luke given the chance but in the meantime he much preferred to just relax and spend time in company, even if it was weird amnesiac enemy company. Oh, and it was his day off, and he doubted he would get paid overtime for trying to reel Luke in or whatever else. Still if the opportunity did arise... worth keeping an eye out for.
