A year had passed since Seraphine's car accident. A year had come and gone, life had continued on as close to normal as they could manage, and she and her mother had eventually learned to live without the head of their household.

What Sera was convinced she would never learn to live with, though, was visiting graveyards.

Somehow she'd managed to avoid coming here this whole past year, but her mother had begun insisting more - lately, in no uncertain terms - that she needed to visit, either with her or on her own. It was nearing the anniversary of his death, she'd said, and it wouldn't do for Sera to ignore it. As much as she argued against it, eventually it'd made her feel too guilty to handle, and so the day found her outside, sitting on a bench on the sidewalk, staring across the street at the memorial park where her father rested.

The weather was unbearably bright and sunny, despite the more morbid and unpleasant reason for her presence there - so much so that she was almost offended by it. Her furrowed brows and completely unimpressed, almost displeased expression gave truth to this. Anastasia sat anxiously on the sidewalk, watching her trainer hesitantly, and waiting for her to move.

A few tense minutes passed in increasingly more awkward, uncomfortable silence before the brunette pushed herself up with an irritated sigh, and began to purposefully stride forward across the empty street towards the park's entrance - only to suddenly turn right back around halfway across and hastily return to the bench, swearing under her breath the whole time. She flopped herself back down on the bench and folded her arms over her chest sullenly, glaring across the street as if the memorial park itself had deeply offended her. Anastasia whined and pawed at her leg, her ears flicking back in her concern and confusion at Sera's strange behavior that she didn't understand.

The brunette ignored her though, and continued to glare vexedly across the street for a few more minutes before finally trying again. This time she made it nearly to the other sidewalk before suddenly turning and coming back to the bench. The Umbreon followed along at her heels, turning when she did and coming to rest at her ankles when she sat down heavily on the bench once more. The trainer let out a frustrated sigh, leaning back and folding her arms over her chest, but the position lasted barely a few seconds before she leaned forward, her elbows on her knees and her face in her hand. "This is so stupid," she muttered angrily, glaring through her fingers down at the pavement. "This is so stupid. Literally the stupidest thing," the brunette told her Umbreon.

Anastasia only made a quiet, confused noise in response.

It was a rout that Rosie was familiar with, an aria she had grown to know very well over the years of visiting her mother, mostly traveling by foot, or on the rare occasion that Bruce just drove them.
It was a beautiful, quiet little aria surrounded by smaller shops and parks to draw in whatever business they could.
Even if Rosie wasn't on her way to visit the memorial park, there was always something nice to see or do.

Today though, Rosie stopped to see a rather unusual sight just outside the memorial site.
Sera, and she was sure it was Sera, she could recognize her best friend anywhere. But she seemed to be trying to go across the street... only she kept turning back at various points and returning to the bench.

Eventually, Rosie finally decided to make her way over to the bench. walking up behind her friend and trying to draw her attention as she stepped up.
"Sera?"

She didn't notice anyone approaching until a voice startled her out of her thoughts, and the brunette jerked her head up in surprise. Oh, it was Rosie. "Oh, Rosie," she started hesitantly, her face flushing. How long had she been there? She hadn't seen her earlier actions, had she? "Uh, hi." That was about as good a greeting as she could offer, given the circumstances.

The blond smiled pleasantly at her friend when she got her attention, though the surprise and blushing didn't go unnoticed.
"Hi Sera." she greeted back, moving over to stand on the other side next to her friend.
along the way she cast a glance over to the graveyard
"Are you visiting your father today?" she asked, with a pleased curiosity.

"Oh, um..." She trailed off with a deeper frown set on her face as her gaze shifted back towards the graveyard she'd been attempting to enter, but each time had, essentially, chickened out. The brunette shifted very uncomfortably, unsure of how to answer, because to be honest would mean admitting her cowardice, and she wasn't about to do that. "Well..."

Rosie glanced back over to the entrance of the park, then quietly back at her friend.
It wasn't hard to put together, Seeing as she had just watched Sera make a couple of failed attempts to go in.
Walking over to sit down next to Sera instead, the blond smiled at her "It can be pretty hard sometimes. huh?"

"Ah..." Of course she noticed and of course she wanted to talk about it. As much as Sera would've preferred to ignore it and leave, or suggest they go anywhere else to talk about anything else, she remained where she sat. For whatever inane reason, she was morbidly determined to visit her father's grave - despite how completely averse she was to the idea - and so she shifted awkwardly and fiddled with the hem on her jeans. "What do you mean?" Because if Rosie talked about it, then that meant she, herself, wasn't talking about it. Not directly, anyway.
