It had been a while since Icarus had completed her basic training and advanced to the grunt rank, and it had been even longer since she had first arrived at the Rocket base. She hadn't come with any significant expectations, but she wasn't sure that if she would have accepted the offer if she had known then as much as she did now. 'Team' Rocket, the organization was named; there didn't seem to be much in the way of teamwork, though - at least not amidst the common grunts. It also seemed that her skills weren't noteworthy enough for her to be given any work relevant to her interests, and though she had accepted that 'grunt' was just the name of the rank, she didn't really appreciate being relegated to grunt work.

Disappointed? Well, it was a new life experience, and that was valuable in its own right. There were higher ranks to which she could ascend, and lamenting and regretting would only impact her performance and hold her down. She was 'Icarus' after all, born to touch the sun even at the expense of burning up her own wings.

A light blush crossed her cheeks at the embarrassingly melodramatic nature of her own thoughts, and Icarus shut the journal in which she had been writing. The recreational lounge had a tendency to get a bit noisy for her tastes this time of evening - the large television with ample seating and nearby kitchenette drew grunts and agents alike as they got off duty and sought a place to blow off steam - but it was better than the messiness of the cafeteria and the changelessness of her room. Icarus had claimed a place against the back wall that allowed for casual people watching and seated herself, content to quietly relax for a while even if not in a particularly productive way. Tomorrow she'd get an early start on the indoor track, take some time to go through the usual routines with her Zoroark, see about her daily assignments...

There was beer, and some music, and a lot of people. Yet Adam felt estranged from the group on a whole. They seemed almost like zombies, stumbling in and exchanging platitudes before sitting on the couches to watch mind numbing television or a round of whatever game was popular. Frowning, the grunt took another swig of beer and let out a satisfied belch. Maybe they were avoiding him due to poor manners. If that was all it took to make a hardened grunt squeamish from interacting with someone then they were pathetically weak.

He had been sitting in the kitchenette area, but the urge to interact with the others was coming up too strongly. First thing was to locate a target worthy and available for interaction. This was a little difficult, given that most of the fellow rockets had friends and even cliques that seemed impregnable. Adam shuffled around, taking a drink from his beer (the third of the night, if we're counting (which he isn't)), and then moving along. The pattern held steadily until he spotted someone who seemed interesting and alone enough to make a perfect "companion". Aka - victim.

She was alone, and had finished writing in a journal of some sort. Adam was used to some faces, they popped up more than others, but this one was oddly... New.

Unceremoniously Adam dropped into a seat beside Icarus, a toothy wolf like grin spreading over his face, "Hey! 'Sup? I'm Bones~ What's your name? I haven't seen you around. Whatcha writing? Is it a journal? Or are you writing fiction? Is it horror? Erotic? Romantic? Adventure? Oh! You're a grunt, huh? What's your pokemon? Oh do you like pokemon? My roommate doesn't but he's kinda weird anyway."

Icarus reflexively leaned slightly away from the unfamiliar presence, blinking in quiet confusion in response to the slew of words the individual rapidly produced. He was answered with a spell of silence and the scrutiny of lavender eyes, and eventually she gave a reply, "Could I ask you to please prioritize your questions and deliver them one at a time?" Though the response was curt, her tone wasn't quite cold or unfriendly; her request was more sincere than anything else.

This wasn't the first time someone had told the blonde to slow down on the barrage of words, but it was the first time someone had asked for formally and politely. Adam hesitated before laughing briefly and nodding, "What's your name? I'm Bones."
