The best part about the part of the day that slowed to a lull in the clinic was it gave Lu a chance to read. He'd been diligent trying to keep up on studying, hoping to advance in the Botany Department as soon as he could; so, he gave himself homework. He'd gotten a few strange looks when he told people what he was up to, but it was better than biding his time and hoping a promotion would happen along. At least, no one who came into the clinic gave him grief over his reading choices. So far today, he'd only had to bandage up a few scratches and apply some stitches.

Paperwork got boring and he ran out of things to do, crouched over the slightly too small desk in the front of the clinic. Even with the occasional accident coming in, Lu didn't have much else to keep his mind on. He liked the books some of the older, higher ranked people in the department recommended, anyway. And it was only when he came across the word photosynthesis did an embarrassing memory crawl up.

...And the word photosynthesis, unfortunately, appeared far too often in botany books. After the ordeal of asking a taken woman out, Lu had made every effort to avoid her, positive she disliked him now. He knew he was assuming, but couldn't bring himself to face Tambrey. Whenever he saw her, or even someone similar, he quickly turned and headed in the opposite direction. He read in his room on his time off and kept his head down in the gym. So far he'd managed quite well in avoiding her; despite not wanting to face the mess he'd made, he felt bad. He really did like Tambrey, even only being friends; he missed joking around with her, but he'd assumed she didn't. And so, despite his size, Lu discovered his incredible talent at hiding.

Mission after mission brought injury after injury. While they healed, and Tambrey was mission-fit and feeling fine, she'd acquired enough, and especially her most recent injury, to need semi-regular checkups still. She also tended to need to restock on painkillers every so often.

In fact, the door too the clinic area would soon be opening to admit her for just that purpose.

Upon hearing the door opening, Lu placed his pen in his book as a bookmark, moving it to the side as he greeted the person who'd entered. "Good afternoon, how could I-" Lu stopped when he looked up and saw who'd entered.

Oh.

"E-er, sorry," Lu said, coughing. He had to be professional. Awkward things had to be forgotten right then. Professional. Professional. "What can I help you with?" He asked, putting on what he hoped was a convincing smile.

The agent paused, blinked, then put on what she hoped was a reassuring smile, though she couldn't help but feel a little awkward herself; poor Lu had been able to vanish totally since their last encounter... Which was no small feat given how... Lu-sized he was... Perhaps he should have explored a career in the espionage or infiltration side of things...

"Uh. Hello." Hm. He was apologising... after that pause. So he probably /did/ feel awkward... More than she did, she was sure. She hoped she could try and help with that.
Hm. He was being 'professional', clearly... Well, she was here for a reason.

"Um. A checkup; y'know... So I can get, uh, well, checked up and possibly get some pain-killers and stuff."
