Jack looked over while she wrote her thoughts. He took a bite out of his sandwich. This girl, he thought, is peculiar. He knew he shouldn't share too much to this stranger, no matter how innocent she seems. Although, it was a nice change to talk with someone, even if the other person can't exactly do much talking. He did need some sort of social outlet, one that can't be sustained by the nurse only.
"I'd say too long", he said regretfully. "But, not long enough. I don't expect you'd understand quite yet." Jack digressed. "What about you? I pay attention to who comes and goes in the dining halls. You've been here for some time now. I don't believe you've never heard anything about me." Jack didn't want to make a fool the girl, but he did want to see her character. "I mean, it takes a lot of grit to come sit here with me, Riley. Not that I don't appreciate it, because I do. It's just..." Jack realized he was getting ahead of himself. What was he thinking, accusing this person who just wanted to say 'hello'?
"Eh, I'm sorry. I don't mean to be so... presumptuous. I haven't been practicing my people skills on a regular basis. It's been a long time, actually." Jack sighed and drew out a crooked smile to himself that was barely noticeable. He tried to ignore the blips of social awkwardness that come out of his mouth, hoping that others like Riley would do the same.
