It was not that the swamp was unfamiliar to her- the ground was soft and the water inviting, and Roses in Bloom had no trouble traversing its pathways. The difficult part was keeping her head up with the departure of her beloved. Too often she would catch a glimpse of purple dancing in her periphery, or hear the deep laugh she knew was not there. And yet, without fail, every time she would turn, to find no sign of the kin she once loved. It was as though her heart was lashing out against every attempt she made to move forward.

Today was no different. She had traveled a good distance, cleared many hurdles... and it had been flowers. Simple purple flowers, and she was undone. Rose had weakly staggered away from the brush and to a simple underbrush that looked inviting. As ever, she did not cry, nor did she break. Rose simply closed her eyes, drew a deep breath, and did her best not to think. All she had to do was push the thought from her mind, and move on.

But oh, she was tired. So very, very tired. How did other kin do it? Love so many others without abandon? Rose simply didn't understand, much as she tried. It was so exhausting to love so deeply.

Maybe she would just... take a quick rest.
