And he wandered through the desert, with his hounds trailing behind him, he felt his heart lost, his head heavy, broken and fragmented dreams of flowers and light, and then of a swan's gentle gaze welcoming him home.

He traveled for days like his dream, though everything felt more vivid, aching, longing, he had left everything without a word but he knew somehow it was right. His lifemate was out there and waiting for him to come home.

And he would go to her.

Finally his hooves touched the swamp, the ground softer and more dusty than the desert sands, and he knew there was no going back to his once lair after this -- and he had no hesitation, he entered the swamp with his legs, his frail tail touching the dirt of his new home and only picked up the pace as he knew she was here. Somewhere.

He would find her again and make a home with her.

He was coming to her, she could feel it.

It was a glow, a tug, a demand that she meet him, welling in the core of her breast. She flew on fresh wings, petals adorning her feathers like dewdrops, not yet falling but fluttering as though they might. She flew with the speed of the cheetahs she had back home, carried with hope to see the one she'd left those very plains for.

The one who wished to have a family with her now. Was that the glow? Was that the ache? It was nearly impossible to distinguish the ache of wishing to see him with the ache that pulled her to him. Were they the same?

She heard the dogs, first; her beloved protectors of her Dark, she could feel them running through the swamp as sure as she could feel the air filter through her feathers. He was here. He was close.

With a flutter of wings, she landed in a flourish of rose petals and long auburn hair, the Kiokote's hooves touching down as the sand dogs broke through the underbrush. "My little ones!" she cried out, scarcely believing it was them, so out of place from the dunes of the desert. "My sweet ones!" She greeted them with a sweet sound and nosing the dogs, she anticipated who would follow. She knew he was here.

Dark Descent did not hear the call of the MotherFather but he could feel his love come close as clear as the nighttime in his eyes.

And his sanddogs also knew their mistress, ears up high and tails wagging in excitement. Descent's longing was strong but he had managed to keep it inside-- until he saw his companions run and move forward. He knew, and they knew.

Like the dream he had before he saw the flutter of wings, the graceful movement as she neared the ground, the falling of the rosy petals around. And when he saw that familiar auburn hair -- shorter and more composed -- but still as red as he could see in his dreams. His heart was whole now.

"My love." He said in almost a whisper, almost stumbling in excitement, moving towards the kiokote now adorned in flowers that were more beautiful than any plant he had ever seen. Descent looked into his one's glowing eyes, slowly walking towards her with a trembling jaw. "You -----" and he was speechless for one of the few moments in his life. "My Ascent."
