It was a nostalgic choice but there was nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia, simpler times when he hadn't been about 50% scars, down a limb, up a metal limb with cool and terrifying features, committed for life to a criminal empire.... But on the other hand - probably the metal one - he was a lot happier now than he'd ever been before Team Rocket, even if it had screwed him up in some interesting ways.
