"Are you about to have a full mental break I do not know about?" Will joked as they drove. It would take them ten minutes to reach the sight of the funeral. They were a little early and so they managed to get a spot closer to the grave. It was up on the hill where the command tent had been set up. All around there were graves for others who died but Adrian's stood a little taller at the highest point of the hill. The funeral lasted a few hours as almost everyone in the city came to see him and his final resting place but Will only stood there for a few short minutes before retreating to a nearby tree to watch the rest of the funeral. It was harder than he had expected it would be. Goodbyes always were.

Amelia Cross Amelia wasn’t too far behind Will in retreated away from the grave for a number of reasons. Despite what Will claimed she still felt like an outsider among those who fought and served with Adrian. Will really was the only one who had shown any degree of kindness towards her and even with Adrian gone she had her doubts it would change any time soon. The second was a knot of guilt in the pit of her stomach, one she’d been carrying since his death, which made looking at his grave nearly unbearable. All the people around, hearing their grief, only intensified the feeling. So Amelia quietly said an apology as if Adrian could even hear her, or that he’d ever forgive her if he could, and quickly joined Will by the tree.

Will stood in silence for a good ten minutes beside Amelia before he said anything. He didn't know what to say about Adrian, what could be said that would not sadden him in some way? So after long enough in silence had passed, Will finally asked the question that could lead them away from the wretched place they found themselves in. "Do you want to go see the farm now?"

Amelia Cross Amelia gave Will a look of relief at the question and nodded. Honestly he could have invited her to go to the sewage treatment plant and she would have agreed. Death and grief made her uncomfortable at the best of times. She didn't say anything though, didn't trust herself to open her mouth at the moment. Instead she merely gestured for him to lead the way. She would follow.

Will lead the way out of the funeral area and towards the truck. Once they were both in he pulled out of the cemetery's makeshift parking lot and set off towards the farm. It was far out of the city and so it would take a while but he was fine with that. Eventually the paved roads turned to dirt roads and then those dirt roads became a little bumpy but even then the truck pulled onward to the farm until finally Will parked in front of what would be his home. It was a simple building but it was large. Around the back there was a very stereotypical barn but the main building was nice. It had wooden walls pained white and hardwood floors. There was two bathrooms, a kitchen, a bedroom, a living room, and an extra room for whatever purpose someone wanted. Next to the barn there was another building for worker housing and there as a silo beside that. In the middle of it all there was a well for fresh water and to the east of the property sat the hundreds of acres of land.

Amelia Cross Amelia was starting to wonder just how far away this farm was when some building finally came into sight. Even then it was deceptive how far away they still were and how much longer it would take to each them. Outside of her brief stint working farm equipment she’d never been outside of the city. Even then, those were industrial farms and really looked nothing like this. “It’s lovely. So…peaceful.” She said softly. And it really was. There was a stillness all around she’d never really experienced before. One that couldn’t be found in a city or an industrial farm that was always running 24/7. “Can we look around?” She asked, though really she was probably currently wearing the worst shoes imaginable for wandering around a farm.

"I don't see why not, according to the Council, I own it." Meaning he could walk around the farm every day of the rest of his life if he wanted to. It was his. He got out of the truck and looked around the main building for a moment before heading inside to find it was rather empty. He would need to have furniture brought out to them. Couches, a bed, some cooking supplies, a television. Basic, old world technology. Still it could be done. Will took off his shoes and socks at the door and rolled up his pants' legs to about his calf before he moved outside to walk around the land. It was mostly dirt or grass so it didn't hurt his feet. It felt nice even, and it was certainly peaceful.

Amelia Cross “You own it?” Amelia was a little surprised, figuring he would simply be in charge of running it and feeding the people rather than owning. Everything was so different than everything she had ever known. She couldn’t help but wonder if she was a little crazy for agreeing to move out here, but then nearly everything from her old life was gone anyway. She took her time looking around before eventually joining Will outside, though unlike him she kept her shoes on. She didn’t say anything though instead just enjoying the view and the quiet.

"The Council didn't want it and they were going to give the land away to whoever took the assignment so yeah, I own it. They figured it would motivate me to do a good job if the land was mine. " Will explained when Amelia rejoined him outside. It was a nice farm, it would make a good home. It held a special silence that he never had in the city or in the Hangar. It was peaceful and it was home for him now. For them both if Amelia chose to stay. This would be where Will lived out the rest of his days.

Amelia Cross “So where do I sleep?” Amelia asked after a while. While they had technically shared a room under Adrian’s watch there had hardly been anything romantic about it. It seemed like a pretty big step to go from where they were right now to sharing a bed in the few days Will would be moving out here and her along with him it seemed. She wondered what exactly his thoughts were in regards to that among other things.

"Anywhere you want to sleep." Will responded passively. It may not have seemed like he was making an overly flirtatious move, but he did say 'anywhere' she wanted to sleep. "I'm gonna head inside and try to figure out what I need the council to send here to make the place livable. Feel free to keep exploring the land if you want." With that, Will turned and walked away from Amelia, stopping only when he reached the door to look back at her and say "Things are looking up now." Before he disappeared into the building.
