Zacharie felt a knot form in the pit of his stomach when he spotted the men not too far up ahead of them. He wouldn't call his being able to take down the man in the alley 'luck', but he doubted he'd be able do much good with that big of a crowd. Unconsciously, his grip on Rosie's hand tightened. "Because they're idiots." The purple-haired boy grunted, eyes darting about in search of a place to run to that wouldn't lead them to a dead end.

...Literally.

He was so lost in his panicked thoughts that he didn't notice Rosie pulling out a pokeball until he was squinting at the bright light from its release. "Virus, contact Jerome!" The teen huffed, tugging the blonde-haired girl so they could go around the fallen men. "Send him our location." There was a muffled trilling from his pocket as the Porygon responded. "Understood. Calling, Jerome." With that done, Zacharie reached to grab one of his own pokeballs just in case they were needed.

Rosie's mouth fell open, blue eyes growing wide at the sight of the familiar bird before her, giving out his cry as he beat his wings wildly, remaining in the air before them and tearing the air before him toward the humans now ducking for cover around anything that wasn't being thrown through the streets by the pokemon's attack.

Her first instinct was to be fearful for the pokemon, before she noticed that his actions had created an opening for them that Zacharie was very quick to take advantage of.
Running with him past the Pidgeot.

The moment the two trainers were in range of his attacks the Pidgeot stopped beating his wings, diving himself forward to swoop along side them just as they passed where the line of humans were. The Gangsters now pulling themselves out of their hiding place and doing just what Rosie was scared they would do;
Retaliate.

"W- who?" She gasped in her fright not sure who Zacharie was talking to or who Jerome was.
Not that she had a whole lot of time to worry about that. At least five popping sounds followed the question, announcing the release of more pokemon, this time from the attacking men.
Without so much as a hesitation Perdy veered away from his trainer driving himself into the released pokemon to take them down, or at the very least draw their fire away from the humans much to Rosie's cry to try and recall him.

Man, Zacharie should have been back by now... or at least actually have been at the Flower shop.
Jerome made his way through the streets, hands in his pockets, though gingerly as his arms now sported a new thick array of tattooing, blacking out the entirely of his forearm in ink.
He wasn't too worried about Zacharie, He knew the kid was smart, and had been taking care of himself on these streets without the current protection that he had for years before Jerome found him.
The ex-gangster just figured that he had gotten distracted by something on the streets and lost track of time like he usually did.

The dex in his pocket buzzed rightly, alerting him that he had a call. Ah, there he was now, probably just wondering how much longer he was going to be. But when Jerome pulled it out and actually looked at it, he paused, and frowned. "The ********?" It was Virus obviously, sending him a location int he city... not too far from where Jerome was now.

This was odd for a number of reasons, Zacharie had never done something like this before, but of course Jerome's first understanding was that something was wrong, and that he needed to get to that location as quickly as he could.

Jerome was in motion from a dead stop, and in just as much time was half way up a building, finding hand and foot holds where there barely were any to get himself to a higher vantage point.

There wasn't anywhere to run anymore.
They had to stay near the coordinates that Virus sent to Jerome.

"Rosie, we're going to have to stand our ground." He tugged her behind him as he held up the pokeball clutched in his other hand. God...what was that phrase that Andre told him? "A-Aasim...uhm...protéger!" The Growlithe burst free, immediately taking a defensive stance in front of his trainer and growling dangerously. Normally, the sound made him anxious but in this instance it brought him a new sense of calm. Tugging whatever pokeballs he could reach free of his bag and released his pokemon. Jabari and Peldes came quickly, almost eagerly, from their pokeballs. "Baaaaaannette!"

Stand their ground? Rosie was pulled to a stop, but moved behind the taller young man. Letting out a light shaking gasp peering up over Zacharie's shoulder to what was going on beyond.
Perdy had been able to easily take down two of the pokemon released, but the others were advancing on him. on top of a few of the men who had what looked like guns trained on the giant bird, who was currently trying to flap a Mightyenna off of his wing.

Even more people were coming, she wasn't sure what they were supposed to do, but at Zacharie's lead she reluctantly reached a shaking hand to one of her other pokeballs.
Pastin reared up when he was let loose beside Zacharie's pokemon, a jet of flames blowing from his nose to draw more attention onto himself and off of his team mate. He had little time to react, and the space he had to attack was limited without hitting Perdy.

Flames enveloped the area around Rosie and Zachaire, at least for the time obscuring them from view and attack.
The grip on Zacharie's arm only tightened as her pokemon charged himself into the fight. the sound of gunshots ringing out, a cry and surprise and then they stopped.

Zacharie had just as tight on a grip on Rosie as Rosie had on him. He didn't like that their pokemon where out there without them being there to help...but what could they do? Those men were ready and willing to kill them and they were at a complete disadvantage.

It was scary...listening to what was going on outside the protective ring of fire, but soon it all fell quiet and Zacharie couldn't help but wonder just what had happened.
