Fought With Fury's time at the Festival of Plenty had been spent without incident. As she lingered lazily near the bonfire, she paid no mind to the other kin celebrating by the flames also. There was no need to start doling out challenges when the flames soothed her restless blood; nonetheless, she did feel just antsy enough to take the call to rustle up some grub, once plenty of kin started griping.

Hunting always sounded like a good time. Firebrand made a beeline for a nearby area she'd seen other kin returning from with prey a-plenty, and sure enough, spotted some tracks immediately. Stalking along the mud, it was disappointing but not surprising when she only found a stash of acorns at the end of it.

Not far from the acorn cache she'd found, Firebrand spotted another trail of prints. It seemed this area was plentiful for more than kin, and she quickly found the next stockpile of acorns to plunder. Too bad for them!

Any other kin might have been satisfied with such a harvest, but Firebrand was bored with acorns. She'd come here to hunt, hadn't she? And so had other kin, she was abruptly reminded as her hoof broke through a false cover of grass, sending her pitching forward into a (fortunately empty) pitfall trap.

Thrashing and screaming with fury, Firebrand could have been mistaken for a captured lynx down there and twice more dangerous. Her pride had been more bruised than anything, but she raked at the sides of the hole with her hooves and kicked around anyway, before finally settling long enough to climb her way back out.

If the kin who had made the trap had been around, Firebrand would have buried them.

Upon her return, Firebrand passed out the acorns with detached disinterest. She was scuffed up and still seething, but the appreciative comments might have taken a little of the edge off her annoyance.
