[Bonfire Solo] Let's get... [Something Good]

The Festival of Plenty had been such an invigorating time for Something Good, who happily partook in all that the celebration had to offer -- within reason, of course. He had to think about whether or not he liked his first taste of fermented fruit enough for a second round, and he shied away from getting too close to the flames of the bonfire despite the cajoling of others. Some of these kin were liable to singe their tails! In any case, Boon could not, on clear conscience, continue cavorting about without contributing also. So of course he jumped on the chance to bring back food for his fellow kin!

Following the advice of another kin who'd gone scouting for snacks, Boon found his way to a nearby fruit grove and immediately spotted a a tree heavy with fruit. Look at those lovely things! Reaching for some of the fatter-looking pomegranates, Boon managed to clip a neat bushel of them in his teeth and carried them off victoriously back to the Bonfire.

...Or at least he would have, had he not felt something squirming its way up his muzzle. Gasping, he dropped his prize and recoiled from what clearly wasn't a prize find at all. Little worms poked their way out and in again, oblivious to Boon's disappointment.

Boon had been looking forward to having a pomegranate of his own, really he had. The luscious red was just too tantalizing and, well, there was a stubborn streak in him too. That family bull-headedness sent him marching on back over to the tree, hoping to find some untouched pomegranates But, as Boon reached up again and began nosing around in desperation, he only seemed to shake out more worms than fruit.

That kin surely couldn't have lied to him. Boon hated the thought of leaving the grove with nothing to show for his efforts, and he was feeling rather silly for falling for the conspicuously untouched tree twice now. Pacing around the grove, he decided he'd just have to inspect the wares of the remaining un-picked trees and berries more closely.

Fortunately, Boon's perseverance paid off. He was rewarded with a splendid blackberry prize, no bugs in sight. Quickly snapping off a branch of it, as though the creatures might swarm it before his eyes, the Kio walked carefully back to the celebration despite his excitement, wanting to keep as many berries un-spilled as possible.

So, no pomegranate. But -- and forgive the sappiness -- Boon found the satisfaction of being able to share anything at all far sweeter.
