Evolve had been enjoying the bonfire activities to some extent. If enjoying also meant not participating in the slightest and instead sitting nearby watching the various kin go about their business. System Shock was in there somewhere, probably eating all the food everyone else had gathered and challenging people to battle. Or maybe Candid Crush would get him shut up long enough to be constructive. Evolve didn’t really care either way.

Each kin that went past was appraised, up and down, from top to bottom. Searching for weakness was a habit that she would never want to break. Slight limp, left leg, kick for maximum effect. She watched the Acha go by, hid a grin in the darkness. Too easy that one. Large target, Totoma, curl of horns block vision, approach from behind-left. She continued her game until even that was boring and she stood, rolled the kinks out of back with a quick stretch and set off at a trot.

It was time for a snack and maybe she’d pick up something for the gathering as well.

Rather than waste too much effort on the hunt just yet, Evolve made her way down to the fruit grove.

It was there that she quickly located the blackberry bush, laden with ripe berries. It wouldn't be hard to snap off a branch but first she indulged herself, carefully curling her tongue around the plump fruit and pulling them into her mouth, while doing her best to avoid all the thorns.

Steady gave a large, obnoxious yawn to signal to his twin, Fault, that he desperately wanted to get the hell out of here but she was ignoring him and he found himself dodging a subtle donkey kick from one of her back legs. Getting the hint he wrinkled his nose and rolled his eyes, fine. He'd find his own entertainment. Huffing, the brightly hued male trotted off to find something far more interesting to do and lucky enough for him the fruit groves were only about a stones throw from the area. He didn't get it. What was all the fuss with celebrating the Fall? Most of these older kin wouldn't make it through a harsh winter and yet here they were partying it up, celebrating the inevitable. Then again he supposed that was the way to go. Party it up before you died. He snickered and trotted into the groves. The trees closer to the entrance were quite bare, he figured the laziest kin had scavenged what they could without having to walk too much farther into the areas heart. Toads.

His hooves beat a steady rhythm as he trotted. Ah! Blackberries. Just what he was looking for. He spotted a Kiokote happily stuffing her face and choked back a snarky comment, instead choosing to snap of the very branch she was currently eating from, it did have some of the largest and juiciest berries after-all. Holding it up he grinned, through teeth clamped over the branch of course, in a charmingly smug way and waved the branch back and forth in a 'Come and get it' motion, baiting the other Kin. Nobody would have commended Steady on his manners. He was a little s**t through and through, at least he found it funny. "You looking for food too? Wanna make it a contest?" Somehow he was still able to speak without dropping the branch, he was very good at making his own fun and maybe this Kiokote wouldn't be a downer.

Evolve had sensed his approach and ignored it. She was too busy extricating blackberries and if somebody felt the need to nibble on her particular branch as well, then so be it. She certainly wasn’t expected the newcomer to simply snap the branch off and when all of a sudden it was whisked out from under her, she turned her head to give the buck a displeased sneer.

Kimeti, young and fit but cocky. Full-frontal assault advised. And though her body tensed in readiness for the attack, the muscle memory of years of training with her mother and uncles more than ready to snap into action and bring down her opponent, she hesitated. Luckily for the Kimeti, he’d just said the magic word.

"What sort of contest?" Evolve asked with a predatory grin.
