[PRP] Freak Show After Dark

Of course Zacharie heard the people entering the tent.
And of course it nearly gave him a heart attack.

The teen immediately dropped down into a low crouch behind a shelf stuffed with...well...various stuffed oddities. He barely dared to breath, he definitely didn't dare to move any closer towards the back of the tent where Jerome was hiding. They'd just have to wait it out until the people left...or at the very least figure out how to take them out without drawing any more attention to the tent. He was certain of one thing though.

They would be leaving the circus with this brain.

Slowly, so slowly he almost didn't think he was moving, he angled his body so he could be ready to bolt towards the back exit at a moment's notice.

He heard nothing but the steady stride of the man who had entered the tent, though Jerome recalled him speaking to someone before he entered he couldn't hear that anyone else had come in. A steady light moving along the halls created by the displays was the only clue as to where the man was, but Jerome still had no idea where Zacharie was.

Jerome had to move that Zacharie would know what he was doing, He himself had to move as the man started to get closer and closer.
Little did Jerome know, was that as the man was making his way through the corridors looking for the source of light he had seen before, he was just a few paces away from where Zacharie was hiding.

The closer the light got to his hiding spot, the more shallow his breathing got. Zacharie felt panicked and a bit light-headed as his mind raced, he had to do something otherwise he'd be caught and the whole 'covert' thing they were going for would be ruined! He patted the floor near his feet, his gloved fingers brushing over grit and grime until they collided with what felt like a small rock. Whatever it was he could easily pick it up and that's all that mattered to the purple-haired male because he plucked it up, turned towards where he was fairly certain the man with the flashlight had entered, and threw it as far away from himself as he could while still being crouched down so low.

It was quiet save for the man's footsteps for a moment, but eventually a 'plink...plink plink' could be heard somewhere as whatever he had thrown had come into contact with what was probably a glass jar or a glass display case. Zacharie held his breath and prayed that it'd be enough to draw the man's attention away from his hiding spot.

"Who's there!" The man's voice boomed through the tent, the light from the flashlight suddenly pulling away to point in the direction he heard the rock fall.
"This place is creepy enough as it is, I don't need this." the man hissed, moving off in the direction of the noise with a greater deal of caution in his step.

Releasing a silent, but shaky breath, Zacharie started back the way he had came the moment the flashlight turned away from his hiding spot. He continued to keep low to the ground, slow, silent, and steady, as his fingers periodically brushed against the ground, plucking up small pebbles (or whatever they were since he couldn't really see what he was picking up) to throw if he needed to do so. He was focused so hard on not bumping into anything and trying to see Jerome that his eyes were starting to hurt a bit from the strain. He had to be getting closer...the tent wasn't that big and his way to the brain had been fairly straight forward and quick.

Something happened, Jerome heard the pinking on the other side of the tent, and saw the man start to move off in that direction. he wasn't sure at first if Zacharie had gone that far away, though the question was answered for him when the soft some of movement reached his ears, someone crouching low was approaching him.

Knowing full well it had to be Zacharie, and with the man's back turned to them, Jerome took the chance, using his hand to shield the light from going to far, He lit up his flashlight again, keeping the beam low so that Zacharie could get a direction.
Only a few seconds did he leave it on before he switched it off again to make sure that the man's back was turned before turning it on again, pointing to the way they had squeezed in, then turning the light off again.

Shifting himself over to the back of the tent, and trying to keep as quiet as he could Jerome pulled at the bottom flap to create and opening for Zacharie to get out of.

"I know someones in here!" the man said, as the fabric was strained under Jerome's handling.

It took everything in his power not to jump in surprise at the sudden light to his immediate right.

At first he thought the man had turned suddenly and spotted him, but when the light flashed again only to show the way out he knew that he had found Jerome. Which was good because upon squinting into the darkness he found that he had been just about ready to walk into the wall of the tent. Zacharie didn't need any other prompting, the moment the flap was lifted he was ducking beneath it. He didn't have time to listen for anyone but he immediately rolled and ducked into the nearest shadow. He did muffle his laughter behind a hand at the guard's frightened sounding call though.

Jerome rolled out right on Zacharie's heels, nearly bumping into the younger man if he didn't have the control of his body not to. Though he lingered behind for a couple more seconds after Zacharie darted for the shadows, lowering the flap back into place carefully so that he wouldn't make anymore unnecessary noise.
hearing the growing panicked voice of the man inside, Jerome slipped away from the tent, to join his partner in the shadows.

"Ya get it?" He muttered to the purple haired Rocket, all the while glancing around to make sure there were no other guards in their area.

Zacharie grinned widely as he gave an emphatic nod. "I got it." He said softly, but the excitement in his tone was as clear as day. He took a quick peek around the corner to make sure no one was coming from the front of the tent before glancing back the way they had came. "Should we leave the way we came? The guy in the tent should draw some attention." He asked as he reached up to tighten the ponytail holder in his hair. Now would be a bad time for the wayward strands to get in his way.

"Naw" Jerome muttered back, shifting forward and putting a hand on Zacharie's shoulder as he looked around, pulling his weight forward, glancing around before looking back over at Zacharie
"First place we find t'get out we're out, we can just circle around."

Patting Zacharie's shoulder with a light grin "Ain't over yet, gatta get t'th van."
With the understanding that there were more then just that one guy Jerome shifted forward, toward the outer limits of the circus.

"Kyle, we're headin' back"

Nodding to show his understanding, Zacharie took one last look around before following after his partner. He kept close to the older man's heels though made sure that they both had enough room to move if needed. They were so close...so, so close. He could practically feel the metal of a scalpel in his hands.
