Gecko had a lovely time with that boy. He was all cute and snakey, and gosh, he'd been so fun! She wasn't really one for the flirty business, but that had been a better time than she expected. So nice!!! And he'd brought her FOODS!!! Foods were the best, really. She didn't even get yelled at for getting an extra fish this time!!!
Sitting with Frog tucked under her arms, and Peep nested on her head, Gecko sang along happily with her beepy birdy friend. It was just... a really good day! For some reason, she couldn't shake the glowing, happy feeling bubbling in her chest! Had Hunter experienced this happy? Maybe if she did, she would be less angry all of the time forever!
But... was it just the get together? Something in her told her it was more, but she couldn't tell.
Oh well!

It was probably one of the stranger songs she'd heard in the swamp. Now, the Kiokote wasn't one to judge -- (okay yes she was, but that was a time before the swamp and only her mate knew--) -- but she was used to songs either being with intelligible words or wordless. Instead, it sounded strangely like...a bird and...something thinking it was a bird. Or trying very hard to be.
Ascent spread her wings and allowed herself to glide nearer to the sound, landing on a low hanging bough and gazing at the display with wide, glowing white eyes. There was no doubting this was the mother-to-be, but she watched, just in case - to see how she was, to see if the bright, thick-tailed doe knew what she was or not.

The swan blinked once, slowly. Inwardly, she smiled. There was something precious to be said about the innocence that could still prevail within the swamp.
Taking flight again, she lit carefully upon the orange doe's back. She was larger than a normal swan, but was mindful not to be so heavy upon her and put a damper on her high spirits. Ascent leaned her long neck and pressed her head delicately against Gecko's neck as she sung. Her presence was warm, even in the ending winter, and with her came the sweet scent of the roses that adorned her feathers.
Your children will be as full of life and love as you are, the words were unsaid, unheard, but given to Gecko all the same. Their joy will be boundless.
And just like that, she flapped her wings and took the scent of spring with her, taking to the air and circling the pregnant doe and leaving with a sense of contentment in her chest.
May the MotherFather watch over you.

It seemed her song for the swan worked, as the pretty bird fluttered over and landed on her back. As it did, there was the most wonderful smell and feeling- roses, and flowers, and just... the warmth of a perfect sunny spot on a spring day. The sensation brought a few tears to Gecko's eyes, and when the bird's head pressed against her, Gecko made certain to give just the slightest lean to demonstrate her fondness. What a lovely bird! Gosh, she just loved birds.
Then poof! In a flutter of wings, the swan was away, and Gecko watched it disappear onto the horizon. Still, she found herself smiling. The happiness was a grand and lingering feeling. Sniffling a bit, Gecko ended her song, and glanced down to Frog in her lap.
"I have a good feeling about the future, Frog."
