Have You Heard The Buzz? [Hive x Mourning Fog]

Hive wandered through the swamp toward the place she knew the hives were. Lately she'd more and more craved the sweet honey found within. She knew it was due to the life growing within her and her thoughts turned to thinking about what her offspring might be like. Would they be strong and beautiful? Perhaps quiet and reserved? She smiled to herself as she mused over these thoughts.

Mourning Fog fluttered gently, as if the breeze alone carried him on. He was feeling a bit better lately, and set out to survey the swamp a bit. Perhaps his daughter was right, these walks were doing him good. Or flights as it may be. Or maybe it was the motherfather, the will of the swamp that drove him out to wander.

He heard the buzzing of bees, and thought it due time for a snack, either way. Surely they wouldn't mind giving a moth a little of their honey, yes? Especially one that's chosen by the swamp?

Suddenly he began to second-guess himself, not wanting to intrude on their domain and get hurt, and instead he rested his wings a little bit aways from the various hives, wondering what he should do instead.

The doe walked up to the hives, not bothered by the bees, and nosed about to get some of the hive opened carefully. She was patient and slow in her progress, trying not to bother the bees. Finally she got enough of one of the combs exposed to bite of a chunk. Chewing on it, she savored the sweet viscous liquid that squeezed forth at every chomp.

The moth seemed to watch the doe as she appeared and carefully broke open a hive. Mourning Fog was interested half because he wanted to learn how, and half because there was something about her.

The motherfather always seemed to show her will in strange sensations. He felt a warmth in the pit of his stomach, and a sort of just knowing. He took flight and fluttered gently towards her, landing on her back.

May the swamp bless you with children who are healthy, strong, beautiful, and wise. he uttered, with words silent to the doe's ears. And may the motherfather watch over you all he added, before taking flight again. Honey would have to be a snack for another day, he mused, and drifted away.

Hive felt an odd tingle and stopped munching on the honeycomb a moment. She smiled a bit, feeling like something good had just happened. She set the spent honeycomb down and broke off a fresh piece, but instead of chewing it as well, she stepped to the edge of the hive's territory and set it down... just in case someone might want it. After a moment, she went back to the hive for more honey.
