[FIN] Misunderstandings

Both attacks sent the canine pokemon staggering backwards, but once assured that its fangs were wrapped securely around the small fire-type, it turned away again. The Water Pulse crashed into it then and sent it stumbling a bit, but it didn't care how it affected the Vulpix in its jaws - it wouldn't let go for that, at any rate - and moved to dart around the Dratini, out of the alleyway and down the sidewalk. Its aim was another alley a few buildings down, specifically one away from a giant water-type that couldn't walk itself there.

Swift squealed in pain and fear as the jaws closed around him, and gasped and spluttered as he caught some of the Water Pulse attack. Dazed and unable to launch another proper attack he twisted and squirmed in the Houndoom's grasp, trying to sink his teeth into the side of its mouth.

<> Scully hissed, launching a Thunder Wave at the Houndoom as it tried to escape; her attack was quickly followed by another Water Pulse from Mulder.

"Swift!" Taavi's heart froze in his chest but he knew there was little he could do but keep hold of Isaac and watch in horror as the scene unfolded around him This couldn't be happening, everything had been going so well! He should have known better than to think it would last. He might have tried to intervene if he hadn't had Isaac in his arms, dumb though it would have been, but right now the Espeon didn't have a chance of protecting himself so he had to be his priority.

As the Houndoom tried to make for the alley a shadow scudded over the group, wheeled around, and hung over the dark and fire type. If the pokemon happened to look up it would spot a Braviary diving silently out of the air towards it with a very intent expression on its face.

Oh yes I do, the Houndoom seemed to say as it grinned around the Vulpix's small form and dodged the Thunder Wave. While the biting from the little fire-type was irritating, the larger pokemon ignored it in favor of focusing on the task at hand - a task made more difficult with each pokemon that tried to ruin it for him. It huffed as it noticed the shadow over it and a quick glance showed the Braviary swooping in, and it waited until Valour was low in the air before it came to a screeching halt, turned on a dime and darted back in the opposite direction. Fine, it'd go through another alley instead.

<> Valour squarked rhetorically, landing awkwardly on the street with a screech of talons before turning to launch a deadly accurate Aerial Ace at the retreating Houndoom. <>

<> Mulder snapped, launching another Water Pulse with a twist of his serpentine neck.

Scully declined to answer, focusing instead on charging the Houndoom again with Extreme Speed. <> she snapped at the dark type. <>

<> Melody echoed once more, springing forward and trying to tangle up the Houndoom's back legs with Wrap.

Clearly dodging the Braviary's dive hadn't deterred it, and the Houndoom grunted as it stumbled backwards at the barrage of attacks. A growl of frustration rumbled up from its throat and its jaws tensed around Swift for a moment, and when Melody approached, it whipped around and threw the Vulpix at her instead. own damn dirty work,> it snarled, spaded tail whipping back and forth, <<********> this s**t, I'm out!> So saying, it turned abruptly and darted out of the alley without its hostage.

Though she was bowled over by a flying Swift Melody was not deterred. Rolling back to her feet with a jingle she cheerfully uttered; <<******** this s**t!>>

Swift hit the street with a thump but quickly scrambled to his feet and darted behind Mulder with a Quick Attack where he flopped into a panting heap. <> he gasped, dizzied by adrenaline and victory - such as it was and regardless of the fact that he hadn't contributed a lot to it. Blood was oozing from puncture wounds where the Houndooms' fangs had sunk into him but they weren't that bad, it had seemed to want him alive after all.... To take him to Alyssa? Ugh! Swift shuddered and sat up as Taavi hurried over and dropped to his knees next to him. <> he insisted quickly, <>

With his hands shaking slightly Taavi gently set Isaac down on the pavement and stooped to kiss the curls of Swift's hair. "Thank Arceus! Right, we're getting out of here." Breath in, breath out, and now get on with s**t because he had no idea if the Houndoom might be running for backup. "Thank you all, we'll talk soon," he said quickly to his pokemon companions, calling all of them back into their pokeballs other than Valour and then shrugging out of his jacket and turning to Isaac. "Okay I don't want us on the street anymore, so I'll wrap you up warm in my coat and Valour; can you take up to the closest pokecentre? We'll heal Swift up then go home okay." That Houndoom had had something to do with Alyssa and he had no doubt she'd soon know about this; so much for hiding the fact that Isaac was back with them from her. Well... well ******** that, they'd deal with it later and if she wanted to take him back then... then... something. For now he just wanted to get Swift treated and then get Isaac home to Abel.

Once the Houndoom beat a hasty retreat, Isaac calmed down and ceased his growling. He eagerly hopped onto the ground when Taavi set him down and his ears perked forward attentively, his face filled with concern as he looked to Swift. He asked, noting the blood even as the Vulpix insisted to his friend that he was fine. At least he was alive and standing, and most importantly, still there with them.

Taavi's question received a quick "eon!" of agreement - he'd be fine even without being wrapped up in his coat - and the Espeon had absolutely no desire to remain on the street either, not with Alyssa's Houndoom on the loose. Had it stalked them all this way? Had it been stalking Sera since Alyssa approached them earlier? Setting such thoughts aside for the moment, Isaac - now perfectly awake as adrenaline coursed through his veins - turned to Taavi, waiting to be wrapped up in his jacket and ready to hop into it if it would make things go quicker. The sooner they were off the street and somewhere safe, the better.

Taavi gave a sigh of relief at the agreement from both pokemon and carefully wrapped Isaac in his coat before scooping him into his arms and climbing onto Valour's back. "Right! Let's get out of here." The sooner the better.

Valour squawked acknowledgement and as soon as his friend was safely settled he flapped into the air and turned to soar towards the nearest pokemon centre. <> he called to Isaac, <hell? And it's really good to see you man.>>

Once he realized Valour was talking to him and not to Swift, Isaac only hesitated a brief moment before replying. Would he be able to hear him over the rush of the wind? he replied succinctly, trying to speak loud enough so he could be heard. someone back, at any rate. And it's good to see you too!>

<> Valour replied, banking slightly to catch a thermal rising up from a large dark-roofed building. <> The Braviary gave am affable huff of breath and glanced back at Isaac and Taavi for just a moment. <>

Taavi closed his eyes, taking slow steady breaths as his body started to relax again. Up here with Valour he was safe, they were safe, all three of them. There were complexities to worry about but those were ground-Taavi's problem, for now he was just going to feel the wind on his face, Isaac cuddled against his chest, and refuse to worry about anything. They were going back home and no cocky s**t Houndoom or anything else was going to stop them.

Isaac hesitated a moment before he nodded his head; his companions likely would ask the very same thing too, once he got home - home! - so for now he simply curled up against Taavi and tried to relax somewhat.
