Beams of light shone through the leaves, creating dappled shadows across the ground beneath his hoofs. There was enough light that he could see where he was going, but the thick canopy left much of the forest in shadow. The blanket of leaves along the ground showed wear, but little more then that. Sweet was leading the way, skittering across branches and roots to whatever her destination was. He doubted it was anything in particular, but even if it was, she would never have gone alone. Despite her size, the spider refused to leave the safety of the herd unless Beneath the Surface was close behind, and would skitter under his belly to hide at the first sign of anything dangerous. Sweet also hung underneath him while the herd traveled as well, as she disliked direct sun, though due to how often she took that position even in the shade he had to assume she simply liked it. His mother often teased him about spoiling her, but all of the pets and familiars in the herd were rather spoiled, his mother's were no exception.

Sweet had climbed up into one of the trees above him, so he stopped and waited for her. Sliding down on one of her threads she released it after landing on the kimeti's head, settling in happily. Beneath the Surface smiled, making sure she wasn't going to fall off before slowly stepping forward, continuing their exploration. After a while, and a few circles, they found their way into a shady glade. The glade was small enough that the canopy kept most of the light out, and there where a few old logs laying across the rather empty space, small trees growing out of them. Sweet quickly jumped off his head to explore, heading straight for one of the logs. Slowly following her the buck looked around, taking in the sight. It was a nice place they had found, just big enough for the herd to rest. Perhaps he'd show it to them later, if they decided to stay in this area for a while longer. It might be a little tight, but the smaller members of their family would love it. He could even hear what he assumed was a stream nearby, bubbling and tumbling through the trees.

Chasmglow popped its head out of the log and gawked around. For a moment or two it just wriggled in the air a while, trying its best to somehow free itself from the rotten spot of log it managed to get snagged in, and flailed pitifully. Glowing Mushroom strode up behind, and sighed heavily. "You got yourself stuck in a log again? How often are you going to do that before you realize that logs are not good places to play...?" She admonished and then looked around for a stick for its little arms to hold onto so it could be tugged out. "Really."

She jumped at the sight of another kin in the vicinity, and flicked her ears forward in surprise before realizing he was just standing there harmlessly. She pressed a hoof to her chest to slow her heartbeat and took a few loud breaths while she calmed herself down. "Oh you s-startled me... I've been so jumpy lately," she said, seemingly gaining a stutter. "I'm s-sorry, I'll try to get out of your way," she said oddly, and flashed a glare at Chasm while searching for a bendy stick.
