The night is long, and danger, he knows, comes in many forms, and he must protect his family from it. When did his watch begin? He couldn't remember. Come to think of it, he couldn't remember when it was supposed to end, either. He assumes someone will relieve him eventually, and he can rest. But noone comes, and the night is so long. He wants to rest, he wants so badly to rest, but to forego his duty would spell doom for his tribeskin, his family, he knows. Dangers are many, and the night they move in is so long, and so dark. So he stalks, he walks, he races, he paces, around and around the border of their land, endlessly, endlessly. He watches the border, ever vigilant. The night is so, so long.
