Mom, Daughter Charged With Incest After Marrying in Oklahoma

DUNCAN, Okla. — A woman and her daughter are facing incest charges after authorities learned the pair were legally married in Oklahoma this year, and that the mother had married her son a few years earlier.

The motivation behind the March marriage was unclear Wednesday, when 43-year-old Patricia Ann Spann and her daughter, 25-year-old Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, made initial appearances in Stephens County district court. Under Oklahoma law, marrying a close relative is considered incest whether or not a sexual relationship exists.

Comment: But love is love right? How can anyone using that argument to say that same-sex marriages should be allowed say that this is wrong?

This is the perfect example to bring up to someone who is pro-LGBT because no one can say: incest is wrong because they'll pass on deformities to their children; they're two women. So on what basis will they call this wrong? You can only resort to God's Commands.

These people need Jesus. May He open the eyes of their heart and mind to realize how they're interacting inappropriately with His creation. Even if they didn't do this out of carnal lusts, but economic reasons, it's still wrong.

Some people come with the argument that as long as they are not hurting anyone then it is fine... The problem with that is why should we not hurt anyone according to a materialistic worldview? If the universe, like materialism teaches, came into existence just by accident, then why does anything matter?

The only way to have some kind of standard that is consistent is to say that we don't decide these things for ourselves. That they have been decided for us by a personal God, not by accident and without purpose.
