I have never hated a program more than maya

jesus christ, this program is unnecessarily complicated, seemingly just for the sake of being so. I can't even get specific of just how infuriating this program is. but one of my biggest gripes is how you can't pan the project scene, like in illustrator/photoshop/indesign, you press and hold "alt" or something, then just drag the whole thing around with your mouse. NOT IN MAYA, you gotta press "ctrl+alt" then click-drag to highlight a spot to zoom in just in an attempt to center that particular point. but when I go to UV mapping( a step in the process of preparing a model for texturing) you just have to hold alt to drag the whole thing around. stressed

maya is a 3-D modeling program, to get a license to use it costs $3500, but I got the free student version for 3 years, but I will be only using it up until my last class this semester, whats worse is how my prof. teaches us how to use it. not a bad guy by any means, and very smart, but he crams as much info into one sitting and goes through it pretty damn fast and expects it to stick.

whats more, what he has taught us so far does not apply to my project completely. I can UV map straight edges, but not curves unless its with another curve. emotion_facepalm
