Blind in the conventional way, Clarity sees in energy, she sees shapes and streams and pulses of colour buzz around her. Always she has been so entranced by all the wondrous networks of life around her that she’d scarcely ever split attention with anything else much less conversing with let alone conceiving with other kin.

Yet somehow she’d managed with the most intriguing buck, a contradiction of life where none could be seen. Yes, he was worth the split of her attention, his nothingness and then the distinctly something they’d created together.

Energies of the unborn are hard to discern from their vessels, their mothers, but not impossible once they have properly taken root and developed to a point. She supposed she could tell just as well as the average kin with conventional sight. Clarity had seen this condition in others, pregnancy, but it is entirely something else to see, sense and feel these little independent sparks of life inside of her.

She can just barely gasp their entities, like squinting through her mind's eye. Their essence is still rather new and fleeting yet already she couldn’t help but marvel and feel attachment and fondness grow along side them.

But Clarity knows nothing conventional of raising children. Food, water and shelter maybe but what of socialising and relating to other kin? Those were never much use to her but she'd at least gathered such things are staple for other kin. What if they weren't like her? What if they were. For the first time in Clarity’s life she wished for a different more normalised life experience. How was she going to be a good mother like this?
Quote:
ffff whoops, this is so long but Clarity is just ridiculously thoughtful whether it's observational or introspective. OTL

Roses in Bloom did not have the sense of sight of the zikwa, nor the knowledge of their ways, but she did have the sense to know the doe was to be a mother. She had called to Rose across the swamp, a sense in her soul that she was meant to be here. On the wings of the swan Rose took off, soaring beneath the canopies on the way to find her. Her heart was alight with song, each twist and turn bringing her closer and closer to where she was meant to be.

When she found the zikwa- a kin she had not met, eyeless and furless and wonderful- Rose shifted into her true self and landed on hoof, trodding over to the mother to be.

"You seem to have much on your mind, sweet one. Would you care to tell me?" She asked, soothing and gentle. Not pressuring, not judgmental. A loving mother, asking into the life of her little ones.

Clear as Day has never seen anything quite like it, energy like she’d never seen or felt before suddenly appeared before her, gracefully descending in the tightly knit into the form of a swan until- until- impossible, fantastic, marvellous!

The threads of energy blew out, expanding and wrapping around a new centre, taking the form of a kimeti doe. Or at least, that was the closest description Clarity could give the beautiful form in front of her. It’s voice was feminine, kind and loving. It asked of her and Clarity felt her focus drawn and locked to the being, her ever wondering mind held fast.

“I am a mother, my children still growing inside of me but surely there and real.” The zikwa told the wondrous being.

“But I am inept at socialising and have little to no knowledge of the society of my kind or truely any kind. For me, solitude from my peers is fine. For my young though… they might wish for something different. Perhaps I am not fit to raise them.”

The thought made her stomach churn. This attachment she had for her little sparks clenched at her very soul. She'd willingly pass them to another more suited if it was what was best and yet... she deeply wanted to keep them for herself.

"You will find your children will take a life of their own, no matter how you or your mate act. If you raise them or don't... they are a part of you, and will always have a part of you, but they will not be you. This much I know- not from my form, but from raising my own."

Roses walked slowly over to the doe and sat beside her, offering a gentle nuzzle.

"The fact you worry, in my mind, makes you fit to see them raised. So long as you wish no violence upon them, there is no shame in the life you give them. I've raised eight with three different parents tending them, all different in their thoughts and their feelings. If they can survive that, I'm certain you'll be fine."

She turned her gaze to the horizon, glowing eyes closing in thought.

"What is your name, lovely one? I cannot say I've run into your kind before, so I'm a bit elated to get to meet you. Especially at such a wonderful time!"
