[PRP] Scouting Ahead (Sil/Sheltered)

For as many years as they'd been traveling circuits through the swamp, Streams of Silver's small band of family and friends had never wanted for a new direction to quest through the swamp with. And for as many paths as they'd taken, there had been many, many more dead ends.

So many dead ends, in fact, that Streams of Silver had long-since learned that sending a few scouts out at night to look for a good way forward was the best method of guiding them all through the swamp as painlessly as possible. This was, after all, not a journey of self-deprivation, punishment, or adversity– it was meant to be an experience for the mind above the body.

Still, sometimes a good path seemed to indicate itself, while being inaccessible. A short cliff-face with a fast-running stream at its base blocked her off from what looked to be good ground beyond it, but such an obstacle was not safe for large numbers of kin with various levels of physical fitness to brave.

She huffed, turning around, and looking for another way past this stubborn obstacle. If they could just get up on top of it... the view itself would be stunning, and that meadow...

They'd be able to stop there for a few days, recollect themselves, share stories, and enjoy the bounty. But that was only if she could find a way up.

While the general migration remained the same the paths varied. Some places they came back year after year, places were there was a windfall of harvest or well known game. Places that were safe to raise foals and places that were dangerous to linger.

Sheltered walked along the swamp, faintly missing the deserts. Warm sand and the differences in the food. Not that the swamp didn't have its moments of beauty. Specially some of the cliffs. They were craggy and rough not worn smooth by the winds and sides could be chilled instead of sun-baked.

Streams of Silver blinked as she saw a shape up on the clifftop, promising that the area was accessible... at least somehow.

"Excuse me!" the doe called out, to what appeared to be an Acha buck. "Excuse me, do you know a way around this cliff?" she asked. After all, locals... or at least, other trailblazers... were likely to have covered ground she hadn't yet herself.
 

[Shaddaling]

Sheltered paused, peering down. Ooh! Ooh! He danced slightly before pausing. "Yes! I think? Um, one moment! I'm going to have to disappear for a short time? Um, I did not leave you?" He certainly didn't want her to believe he had just up and left her!

Ooh dear. He thought he remember the way across, but it was a bit of back tracking. Perhaps down first and have her follow? But , no. Down first . One thing at a time.

Streams of Silver merely nodded, a little amused by the kin's frenetic energy. The acha were all so akin in that way, really... it was a great gift, to have such initiative.

Now how did he get down that way? To the left and there was a rather narrow pathway that winded down. He trotted down and picked his way through the river stones. Not the easiest way down.

Sheltered peered about, looking for the doe. Now where had she gotten to. Had she left? It had taken him a while to get down.
