Out of the Nest Aerial
; d**k Grayson’s Loft.

Gotham had drastically changed over the years, barely resembling the city it had once was. Richard sat in a room, sitting in front of a computer screen. Glaring at it, until his cell phone started ringing throughout the room. Without giving it a second thought, he quickly answered it. In a cheerful yet rugged tone, he had spoken up.”d**k Grayson speaking, how can I help you?” On the other line, the Commissioner had stated. “I have word that Mayor Kirkman is being targeted tonight! I can’t get a hold of Terry. I was hoping you could?” The pressure was on. He could hear panic in her voice as she requested him to contact Batman. Wherever the hell he was, hopefully he was able to answer a call. ”I’ll get a hold of him. I promise.” He had hung up on the call before Babs could say another word.

Instantly speed dialing Terry’s number. Saying to himself in somewhat of a worried tone. ”C’mon, c’mon. Pick up Terry.” If he had to he would leave a message, unless Terry had picked up in time. ”Terry, this is d**k. I need you to head down to the ceremony. It's being held outside of the mayor's office. Kirkman is going to need your help. I need you to get there now, time is ticking.” He had demanded, sounding a little like Bruce. Slowly heading towards the window of his loft, he looked out at the sky. Thinking to himself how this had been so much easier back in the day, when he had gone by another alias.

It has only been five years since Zoey Lawton took the mantle of Deadshot. So far, taking that role up made her feel so alive compared to performing her marksmanship skills in gun shows. The adrenaline and excitement for danger filled her veins after each kill she made. Was this what the original Deadshot felt? Her father wouldn't approve her to be him but "what ever" she thought to herself. This was the only way to keep his legacy alive after his service to Task Force X was terminated for good. The news about his execution never stopped giving her chills whenever she wears his mask. The world will never understand the great things he had done and the countless of lives he had saved.

The night was still young in the Neo Gotham City and it was the perfect time for Deadshot to make her hit. The client who remains to be anonymous, paid twice as much than her other clients. Crowds of people swarmed around waiting for the mayor to deliver his speech about Gotham. Balloons and camera flashes were also everywhere, which were variable factors that can lead to a misfire. Unlike her father who can probably make that show with a breeze, Deadshot wasn't really at his level and needed to rely on the right conditions and gadgets. Using her reousrces and surronding, Zoey laid prone on top of a nearby building and magnified her cybernetic eye on the mayor like a hawk stalking it's prey. All she had to do was wait for a couple of seconds till the wind age was right and the right moment when she has a clear shot.

Sitting at the table and eating dinner like a normal family was something Terry hadn't done in a long while. Probably not since Dad's passing if he was being honest. Even he could admit that he truly took this for granted. Especially when just next to him, Melanie probably envied him. He had a family who loved and supported him yet he always found himself too busy to notice. That was lie. He did notice but being Batman had to come first. Without him, Neo-Gotham would undoubtly go up in flames. Between the Jokerz to slegs like Dana's older brother—he wouldn't be able to live with himself knowing he could've done something to prevent it. So when his phone rang—vibrated—in his pocket, he used his napkin to clean himself then dug it out from his pants. Seeing the caller, he excused himself and walked into the living room area. On the other side of the line, Mr. Grayson informed him about Deadshot's latest payday. He frowned and with no hesitation let him know, "I'm on my way." in hindsight, he was off to do something really important. But to his family he was just plain bailing.

He walked back into the dining room and rubbed the back of his head thinking up a lie on the fly to tell. Sucks because he was really enjoying this but alas duty called. "Hey. Uh, I hate to do this. Really I do... But Mom, I gotta go. Mr. Wayne needs me and it's pretty dire. I'll be back home later. Sorry again." and with that, Terry was off to god knows where in Matt's and his Mother's minds. Melanie was fortunate enough to know his secret and whether she just decided to stay or follow was totally up to her. Either way he had to go. He darted into his room and quickly changed into costume. Then opening the window would leap out and fly off.

Jet setting over Neo-Gotham's skyline was none other than Batman himself now as he tried not to beat himself up over dinner. He couldn't help some wack-job taking up her father's even wackier mantle was trying to prove themselves. But regardless he was going to stop them. The Mayor's office was only a few levels away now. In a short period of time he arrived within the area and turned on the cowl's detective mode keeping an eye out for the markswoman where ever she lain in wait. Eventually the scanners picked up something to the upper left part of another building not too far from the Mayor's office. Causing him to change course and head over. He landed quietly on the nearby building and went into camouflage mode so that he'd not be detected. Once close enough and positive he wasn't walking into a trap, Batman would fire a batarang from the suit's knuckles, knocking the gun out of their grasp. "If you wanted an autograph, I think you're going about it the wrong way. Could always just go down and say hi." he said, interrupting.

Tired of waiting for the perfect moment to walk from the shadows, Sarai had been waiting patiently until she could make herself more known to the public. She already had a rather jagged reputation concerning the police or whomever had been at the scene of the several times she was caught. Fortunately for her, she always slipped away from the handcuffs of justice and back into the bad path Batman, unknowingly, had created for her. She could have turned out so much better...a person with so much hope...but that was not the case. In fact, that was never the case. Along this path that was fated for her, she did encounter some more than friendly faces and embraced their ties with open arms. This event she would soon cause wasn't as small as the previous jobs she agreed to do in the past. She gave the okay to the third party as her placement in this inside job was to merely get in, retrieve a large some of credits, as it was the currency of Neo Gotham, and leave the scene either undetected or detected. The third party that contracted her knew what she was capable of. These credits, the more digital evolution of the paper bills used in the past, were carrying large sums of digits as they'd be used like that of prepaid cards.

Sarai figured there was probably something else going in the city as the sound of sirens wailed throughout nearby streets and the lights shining red, white, and blue glistened onto the tall skyscraper's mirrored glass. Soon they'd be headed to the location she had been sent coordinates to. Walking along the street's edge, she pulled off a khaki overcoat, placing it with a baseball hat and a pair of sunglasses, into a black sports bag and heading to the place of business. Dressed in her suit--a rather skin tight uniform that was blue and black accompanied with yellow accents, she placed the mask onto her face. She got to the destined location which was one of the many scattered banks in the lower region of the city. This bank was set apart from those closer to the center of the city because it had a less visual field and after conducting her own whereabouts about it, Sarai concluded that after a multitude of bank heists that had happened here, it'd be very soon that it would close its doors, and luckily for her, this job was the last one.

Glancing back into the dark streets in all directions, she smirked and dug into her utility belt grabbing a nano-tech strip, she placed it on the access panel that would allow her to enter and it did just that. Stepping into the building, Sarai was told she would only have at most thirty minutes before the police were to be called or signaled. Screaming in the direction of the main camera sources Making her way into the back of the building where the cards were stacked in a box, she used more of the nano-tech strips to unlock more of the sealed doors and finally found it. Ten minutes. Opening the box, she unloaded the cards into the black duffel bag and zipped it up. Two minutes. Exiting each of the entrances, she peeled off the tech and the door relocked itself. Hustling out the door, she glanced back smiling at the damage she had inflicted on the cameras knowing it would cost a bit and probably grab the attention of more important people. Sarai escorted herself out, peeling the last nano-tech strip and turned around while swinging the duffel bag onto her back, only to be met with numerous police officers and their vehicles as well as several guns aiming to her direction. "New friends? That's surprising. Too bad it won't end well..." The sound of guns loading and police jackets shifting could be heard by Sarai. Things now turned bad, but not for her. "...for you all.." Inhaling and briefly exhaling, she screeched into the direction of the handful of police vehicles and men in uniform.

A flood of bullets came over her, but her screech let out large audio waves that caused the bullets to either travel in the opposite direction or stop them in their tracks. As soon as the phenomena died down and the police stayed in awe, Sarai ran into an alleyway. It was certain however that was being followed, stray bullets grazing at her fishnets, injuring slightly at her thighs and arms, but she didn't pay attention to the injuries. Stopping in her tracks, she ran into a dead end and faced the police men aimed towards her. "Oh come on, I could have gotten a longer head start." Screeching again, the tone of the scream extended to the point that the bullets fell and again gravitated backwards. She took another breath and screamed out again, this time propelling herself midair until she reached the side of a fire escape. Her acrobatics would come in hand now, grabbing onto the railing and jumping onto of one of the roofs. It seemed the policemen lost her or were still astonished by her powerful outcry. She hoisted the bag of earnings and walking off again, leaping onto the next roof, ready to deliver the bag to the third party as they would more than likely be ready.

Melanie gave him an expression of understanding, a soft smile and nod to wish him off. In his absence, Melanie found herself momentarily split on what to do. While she could’ve thrown on the costume, she realized all the negative associations it had, with all the troubles emerging soon after she threw on the number. However, she felt she had a better idea; she would stay and ease his mother’s mind instead, taking the opportunity to come clean about her own past (no simple task, but out of respect for their family, she felt it necessary), as well as addressing trickles of vague truths to comfort the woman, describing how her son—alongside his employer—worked tirelessly to ensure the city’s safety and a promising future ahead, an idealistic perspective to partially grasp why his job intruded so heavily on his family life, albeit without outing his secret life. Afterwards, she would depart herself.

Just when the time felt right and the wind speed was perfect, Zoey felt her sniper rifle fell right out of her hand. She looked beside her to see what it was and notices the batarang. Then she started to remember the time when Batman apprehend her father right in front of her when she was younger. This was the same batarang with maybe some futuristic modifications. Finally deciding to face the man who rivaled her father, she responded to him "I don't know, if you still remember me but you took him away from me. I had a lost childhood without him. I will never forgive you for it." She then pressed some buttons on a touch screen like device on her wrist and activated the wrist gun to shoot heat seeking bullets. What the bats didn't realized, by looking at him, she was also locking him on with her cybernetic eye that was connected to her wrist gun, just so the heat seeking bullets know where to hit. Before she thought about jumping off the ledge of the building. She looked at the new Batman, "You know what I have learned from my father's mistakes about fighting you? Never face you head on." She fired two heat seeking rounds before falling off the ledge, hoping the bullets find their way to Batman. As she flew off with her jet boots she locks on the mayor.

"I don't know, if you still remember me but you took him away from me. I had a lost childhood without him. I will never forgive you for it." Batman frowned, not understanding the statement only until it registered that this wack job had been talking about Bruce back in his tenure as Gotham's protector. Were they really that stupid to believe this was the same old Batman? If anything it was insulting. In no way, shape, or form did he look anything like his mentor. The mere thought made a shiver go up the back of his spine. "Yeah. Well maybe next time your Dad should think twice about that before becoming a psycho murderer." Batman quipped at last. He now watched their movements as they fired bullets from their wrist. "Activating the new impact diffusers." Batman stated, raising both his forearms as light blue colored shields appeared guarding him from the heat seeking bullets.

After the bullets clashed and lost against his shields, Batman used his jet-boosters to fly on and meet up with the now fleeing Deadshot. When close enough he even began to mock them. "Neat trick back there. But didja really think they'd work? I'm Batman for crying out loud. Maybe the apple didn't fall far from the tree after all. Hell, you might just be worse than your father. I'll be disappointed for him since he couldn't attend to see this." Banter aside, Batman rose his fingers and fired from his index finger a single laser to Deadshot's cybernetic eye to disorientate and temporarily blind them.

Once her targeting system from her eye locked on to the mayor, she knew she had the perfect shot. It was her glimmer of hope to be like her father to kill someone of high importance instead of rivaling gang members and wanted thugs. Before she can activate her wrist guns, a sudden bright red light hit her cybernetic eye, disrupting it's systems and temporarily blinding her right eye. "GAAAAAAH MY EYE! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, YOU FREAK!?" Her hand covering the damaged eye, she flew uncontrollably, causing panic among the crowd who participated in the Mayor's ceremony. As she hit a nearby building, her jet boots began to deactivate. While falling, she couldn't help but feel agony. It wasn't only because of the pain she felt in her eye but the mentality that she wouldn't be just as a good of a marksman like her father without the use of gadgets that helped her aim well throughout her life. She managed to fool her foes and fans alike but it now seems that the act was up and she would prefer to die at this moment rather than to continue living as a disgrace.

"Gotcha" Terry reassures as he catches the free falling Deadshot by their underarms just seconds before they hit the pavement. Gross scene that would've been. "Schway save." he complimented himself, looking down at the criminal. "Even if it is the person formerly trying to kill you." He glides all the way over to the GCPD and lets DS down on the rooftop for the officers to take into custody. Standing there as the men in blue, well white, had shown and given their gratitude for Batman preventing yet another assassination to Gotham's current mayor. Barbara Gordon, formerly Batgirl and current Commissioner following her father's footsteps approaches him in her usual attire and expression. He could tell her just by looking at her that his night was far from over with.

"I've seen that look before. Nothing good ever comes from it. Where am I headed?" To which she too would skip the formalities and get straight to the point. "Bank robbery in the old east end levels." That was all? Is what he wanted to say in response only she continued. "From facial recognition it appears to be Sarai Queen." Huh, the name sounded familiar enough. Terry didn't want to waste anymore time on asking questions when his robber was well on their way to getting away with a heist. "On it. Make sure to keep an 'eye' on Deadshot for me." Terry said, joking before taking back off into the night. His jet boosters were working overtime tonight it seemed but it would have to do.

Calling in the Batmobile would only serve to deplete more time. He flew around eyes peeled for any and all nooks and crannies. Suddenly as he grew closer the sound of a cry even ringing his ears slightly could be heard. Instantly remembering who he was pursuing. He'd done a file search on her before. The daughter of Green Arrow and Black Canary. "Seems like I've really got my work cut out for me tonight. Should've brought ear-plugs." Following the sounds of cries and gunshots was an easy lead. Leading him all the way to spectating as what could've been another hero instead villain scurried across the rooftops with bags of in hand. He accelerated more until he hovered in front of her with his arms folded. "Hi there. Couldn't make it by today during business hours?"

Sarai stopped in her tracks, tote bag in her hand, her arm perched behind her back. Her facial expression grew sour as disgust soon made its way. She had finally gotten the attention of this Batman. "Camera's aren't my thing, but you can catch a few glamour shots on them if you wanted." Giggling, Sarai winked her deep blue eye at the bat and hurled a loud cry towards him. Darting off the edge to his left, landing a front somersault onto the next building's rooftop. She'd then run from roof to roof before gliding through the city's atmosphere, sure of where she was heading.

The next location was of course near one of the plethora of crime alleys known for their crime rates though the number had been shaven off since the second generation of Gordon took on the role of commanding officer. Heroes. Yuck. Anyway, cartwheeling off the last edge of a building, Sarai swooped down to the alley below where she was met with two dark vehicles. There were a four or so large men in black suits addressing each other and turned their head at the upcoming female. "Bats is on my tail, the cash is in the bag. I need my end of the deal. Now." The two more prominent men laughed with each other after she spoke which caused her to become enraged and take in a large breath as she'd soon make her cry heard once again. If these thugs weren't up to par, she'd take whatever she could for herself.

Even though he'd been shot at, screamed at, and nearly cut up to pieces, Terry was having the time of his life. This thrill, no, rush of excitement he got when wearing this suit made dealing with evil hero offspring pretty easy. Particularly when he got to talk. McGinnis loved talking. Super contrast to Wayne's run as Batman. The giggle from Sarai should've warned him for what came next. As he now found himself going tumbling to the rooftop he once hovered over. Rubbing his head as he sat there, his conscious would begin reprimanding him. "She's getting away." he shook the cobwebs off and stood back up adjusting so he could reply. "Gee thanks. Totally didn't notice." replied Terry. "Don't get smart. Her Sonic frequency has surpassed Dinah's. You need to stay focused." By this time, Terry has already taken to the skies again flying over top the area looking in each direction for Sarai while listening to Bruce nag. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got this, okay? She just got the drop on me. Won't happen again." nothing in response. Finally. Time to go to work Terry thinks to himself as he looks down, spotting an alley with two suspicious vehicles and an even more suspicious Sarai Lance.

Gliding downwards, he'd pull up slightly hearing that scream again. This was going to be like dealing with Shriek. He saw that now. As he swooped down, he'd land fully prepared to put a halt to Sarai's tour of destruction. "Didn't anyone ever teach you that it's rude to stand someone up? Or do all you criminals come without manners?" Not giving Sarai the chance to get the drop on him again, Batman would raise his hands and from each of his balled fist's knuckles would fire several batarangs at her.

The two vehicles grabbed the bags from Sarai as she was distracted by Batman. Turning to face the vehicles, the skidded away with the loot. Furious, Sarai looked back at Terry and created fists with both her hands.

Sarai dodged some of the Bat's batarangs, but she didn't manage to get through all of them unscathed. Some came at her at tremendous speeds, brushing up and slicing through some of the fabric of her suit and the bare skin that was exposed on her arms. Grunting and grabbing at the exposed wounds, she gave the Batman an intense stare of her deep blew eyes. "They got away, great job, Batman." Inhaling, she let out another cry, halting his accuracy at capturing her, she'd let out another grunt before punching him upside the head and kicking him off his balance so she'd have a head start to get away.

"You can't seriously be blaming me for this?" quickly replied Batman as he made quick work of the oncoming hostiles. Disarming them was an easy task although having to wince every now and then due to the sonic cry ringing through his cowl which he could definitely do without was annoying. It rattled his thoughts around. Something Sarai was surely counting on in this fight. As she now made her way to lob a punch his way. He moved his head dodging her then jumped back to evade her kick. "You're good. But I've been at this longer and I'm better." a cocky remark but for a reason. To catch her off guard and anger her. Play to the fact she already hates anything to do with him, his alias, and current mentor. The words make her moves more undisciplined and predictable. Allowing Sarai to tire herself out with her screams, kicks, and punches like a toddler throwing a tantrum. Before Batman releases an electric bolas to wrap around her person during his last counter.

The shock sends her immediately crashing onto the ground unconscious. From there he makes sure to gift wrap all the dregs around for the GCPD. So when they arrive, all they have to do is pick up the trash. Spectating above his work from the neighboring building was Batman.

A little while later...

"Meanwhile, many areas of the city continue in a state of fear due to the most recent surge in crime as of late. The good news is that the likes of Sarai Lance have been apprehended nearly an hour ago. Along with Deadshot and more. With the GCPD stretched thin Commissioner Barbara Gordon is facing overwhelming pressure to keep the city from boiling over. Still many continue to ask--just what does the Commissioner plan to do?"

Terry's eyes studied the screen intently from inside the Batcave. Not one good job Batman or anything. Just all bad press, well for the Commish. Sucked to be her about now. But the city was starting to make a turn for the better or maybe he just wanted to believe that. Either way as he sits in Bruce's chair, he begins searching through files to see if old Gotham was this hectic. As he does several newspaper articles of heists and such appear in front of him and he's in awe. Even coming across something having to do with Bludhaven. The city where Nightwing aka d**k Grayson operated out of when he went solo. "It'd be nice to see some changes. Any sign that things are getting better. Y'know Ace?" The dog's ears perk up as he looks Terry in the face before resting back down again. Causing Terry to let out a sigh and lean back in the chair. "Yeah. Me too, bud."
