Basically the world is now flooded to 95% water so humans adapted by making floating city and towns using boats and water planes for travel.
It's been 50 years since everything settled down but now 'Mer-people' have appeared and have been helping humans by recovering old world artifacts and tech.
But the peace between Mer people and humans is a delicate balance. Gossip and rumor is spreading that a war is going to break out.

Vallerie was jumping out of the water like a dolphin. In and out she was going. She had a bag full of cool, neat things from down below. Humans had such strange and wonderful things. She was on her way to go see if she could sell any of this stuff. But why part with something so neat? She had no idea. Val wanted to go to one of the larger cities.

Luna was sitting in her room, reading a book when her mother came into her room, "Your father needs you at the dock." She put her book down and looked at her mother. She knew that Luna didn't like to help out down there, and not because of her father. She loved her parents. It was just, she didn't like the water at all. The ocean terrified her, "I suppose I can go for a little bit,"
"Good, hes waiting by the boat." she left.
Luna sighed and got ready to go out. She hated leaving home. Anywhere she looked, there was water, even in such a large city. She headed out of the front door, wanting to go back inside

"Just making a profit on my goods. No hard feelings right?" William asked, counting out the money he had just taken, two cargo movers flanking the man on either side while he did so. In front of him was a cowering man. He hadn't been beaten yet.

"Mister Haris. Please. I need that money to pay for food and water. I'll... I'll get you your money back I swear. I didn't mean to be late on my payment." The thinly dressed man stated, teary eyed.

Haris stopped his counting and motioned for the man to hold out his hand, setting the money inside of the quivering man's palm before taking only a quarter of the amount, tapping the man on the forehead with the money. "We'll rearrange what you owe us each month then. This is how much I'm willing to say the bottom line is for each month for that sofa you bought, any lower and I'm going to have to take it back, got it?"

"Thank you Mister Haris! I'll make good on this I swear." Haris had already turned his back and slipped his coat onto his person, it was chilly down here in the underbelly of the ship where the poor lived. He didn't understand how they could live in such squalid conditions. "I don't want promises Mister Dwight, I want my money. Come on you two, let's get going, I want to see what items the mermaids fished up and try to snag them before someone else gets the items."

The two cargo workers gave a grunt, and turned, Haris offering each of them a small amount of pay as compensation for the previous task before putting the rest of the money into his pocket, folding it neatly. He had forgotten his clipboard and notes back home. That was going to make today's business deals rough with the mermaids, but he would just have to wing it.

It did not take Hairs long to reach the deck level of the massive conglomerate of ships that humanity now lived on, and once outside he took a deep breath, satisfied with the smell of the ocean breeze. "Smells like a good day to make money. Let's see what profits we can make today."

Tsune climbed up onto the boat not far from William shaking a little to remove some of the water that clung to him before turning and hauling a net over with some old pieces of furniture, some scrap metal and lastly an old engine.

he nodded to the few workers that didn't care about how he looked as long as he brought in good relics regularly before heading to speck about getting paid by a porter who dealt with mer-people.
He frowned at some of the comments and looks he as he walked across the deck knowing that he looked different from some of the other mers that interacted with the humans but he needed the money and food they paid for the things he pulled up.

Finally arriving and receiving his pay he then looked over the bounty board of things people would pay well for.

William looked as Tsune came out of the water. He held up a hand to the two cargo movers. "Go ahead and stand out of the way for a while. I'll come and get you in a moment." The two men gave nods and moved to go settle down for a bit and relax while the man did his shopping.

He first just began by looking through what various mer-people were offering, checking prices, calculating in his head, making deals and trying to barter his way to getting a better profit margin for himself. Sadly it just didn't seem to be working out all that well for the moment and with a sigh, he moved to get a piece of paper to write down a request.

'Wanted Items - Pearls, Jewelry, Furniture, and Old World Technology. Send for William Haris for Job Opportunity. Willing to barter for items in case of specific needs.'

With that simple written message, he moved over to the wanted board next to Tsune and posted up his flier, not even glancing over as he spoke. "You had a pretty good haul earlier. The scrap and old engine you brought in will fetch a high price with the captain's of the ships. They're always looking for spare parts. It's a real shame they pretty much have a monopoly on such products as well, not that I can blame the idea. Cutting out the middle man for such transactions makes sure both sides are guaranteed satisfaction."

Tsune glanced at the flyer before then turning his eyes onto the man before nodding at his words
"Yeah, plus it keep everything on here in the condition it's in, your looking for anything in particular when it comes to old world tech, depending on what your looking for I can get it too you by the end of the day if it's small, if you say wanted a specialist piece of gear it may take a couple of days" he spoke in a soft tone rubbing one arm

"Hmm? Oh no. Nothing in particular. Anything and everything like that fetches a good price among us folk up here, just bring me what you think would be good and I'll see what I can do to pay for them. After all, you seem to have a pretty good eye for such things considering your previous haul." William stated with a smile. Perfect, another merfolk that would be fishing out items for him. At least for now.

William then glanced around, seeing what else was being brought up at the moment. "Say, what is your name? I am William Haris, I make my living as a trader so most anything is useful to me. I just find a person willing to buy whatever is dragged up. Everything has a use to somebody after all."

Tsune "Mitsu"

Tsune nodded and looked deep in thought for a moment before he smiled a little
"I go by Mitsu among the traders here and I think i might be able to get you some interesting things, I'll be back by sundown"
he suddenly smirked and gave a small wave before turning and walking over to the edge and dove off into the ocean and disappearing below the waves.
Once he was back below he stretched out and swum into the depths

Val arrived at the city in good time. The market was just booming with business. She quickly climbed out of the water and pulled up her bag. It was small but it was filling with a lot of cool things. She had found a really good stash of items and she hid it all away so that only she could go get them. She set up her temp stall and started pulling out various things. Old plates and cups, a few dolls, a couple of old cell phones, a necklace, a bracelet, picture frames, and silverware. She liked all of them but she had more in her stash. She shouted to get customers over to look at her things.

William watched as the Mer-man named Mitsu took off, giving a small nod of his head. "Good hunting as they used to say." William wrinkled his brow in thought. "Do they still say that?" He muttered quietly to himself before waving a hand dismissively to himself. He still needed to conduct business.

William straightened his tie, and then his coat, brushing off either side of his shoulders and then checking his hair. Everything was okay still. That was good. Appearances is what made a stranger reputable or suspicious after all. He began to wander through what various mer-folk had to sell and he stopped to look at a stall with a necklace, silverware and some old cell phones, first looking at the merchandise then to the one running the stall.

"Greetings stranger, I was wondering what you would take for the cell phones, necklace, bracelet and silverware." he stated with a small smile. He was already running numbers in his head. Depending on what the cellphones had that could be salvaged they themselves would be worth a profit even at a high cost. The rest was more difficult to gauge. He would have to know what they were made of before he could know how much he could charge reasonably.

Val had a customer! She gave him a smile, "Welcome. You may inspect any of the items that you wish. I'm always looking for a bargain." she went under the stall and pulled something out. It was a yellowish bronze color. She handed it to him, "I found this thing on a shipwreck. I think it may be a spyglass." She put it out for him to take.

Val went over the materials he wanted and thought, well, she wasn't sure. Best make an offer to him, "For all those things, not including the spyglass, I'll have to say, 25 gold coins. And I can get you more items if you wish."

A second customer and wanted the bowl, "3 Silver please." money was given and she gave him the bowl. She pocketed the coins and waited for the man to speak

Tsune "Mitsu"

Tsune arrived in the ruins of a small city gripping ledges and using them to propel him faster though the passages between as his net had been bundled into a tight roll on the way down.
Slipping into one of the buildings and finding a small airpocket he took a calm breath and closed his eyes recalling where certain items of use and value were before taking a breath in and going back under swimming almost serpent-like though the building picking small electronics and the occasional valuables like watches.

After some time he pulled himself out into a small underwater hollow to take a break and look over his current haul and check the time on an old diving watch he had paid to get repaired when he first started to work with the humans

Val looked behind the man, "Sir, if you aren't going to buy anything, please put the merchandise down and step away. I have people waiting."

William was very carefully looking over the details of every part within the spyglass he was handed, a small magnifying glass in hand and after a moment he glanced up. "Ah, forgive me, it's not that I am not willing to pay, I am just trying to make sure that what I am purchasing is of good quality. You all fish up a variety of objects, I just wish to purchase the best of the best."

He set the spyglass down and began to count out his coin, offering up the twenty five golden doubloons that Val asked for. "This should do it right? As for getting me items... I certainly would not mind that. See, I'm looking for pearls, jewelry, furniture, and old world technology, which it seems you fished up quite well today, to use a human term." He collapsed the telescope and pointed it at the mermaid. "If you would not mind fishing up said items, I will not mind paying you, depending on quality of said items and how quickly the job gets done. Sound fair?"

Val took the gold and gathered up the items in a netted basket. She gave it to him, "Thank you for your purchase. And I can find what you need. Some of those will be tricky to fine, but I'll do my best."

"Did you want the spyglass too? That'll be five silver."
