[Bless] Splish Splash [Splash/Bitter End]

She was pregnant again, which was nice. The prelude had also been nice. To be honest, after enjoying the attention of a Totoma, a fellow Acha had been a slight let down but he’d been eager and charming and now she was very much pregnant. Which meant a lot of wallowing in mud puddles and enjoying the wetter parts of the swamp.

Splash was currently resting between the mangroves, head on a root, hooves kicking idly in the muddy water. She was happy, content, humming softly under her breath.

Bitter End had initially floated here lazily as a caiman, and she was all ready to catch a hoof casually in her mouth as she drifted by, but she looked so comfortable.
Also, she had a new form that she still wanted to work with. The caiman smacked her lips thoughtfully as she disappeared behind a nearby root.

It wasn't long before the pregnant doe had a caveworm swarming up next to her, like a huge sea serpent, which then proceeded to raise its little hands and start...

...start splashing muddy water at her. It wasn't quite clear whether the little claws were trying to flick water at the doe, or whether they were trying to forcefully smack down the water for ripples. Either way, there was a greater caveworm, half-up, insistently and bizarrely splashing her.

A startled 'eep!' was Splash’s first and understandable reaction to having a giant worm suddenly decide to get a bit cozy. Her legs kicked fruitlessly, kicking up mud and doing little else, certainly not carrying her out of danger.

At least she finally managed to lift her head off the root and ended up sitting in the water, legs splayed awkwardly - and with muddy water being splashed at her face.

"Oh," Splash gasped in surprise, and squinted at what she presumed was the creature's face. It had funny little glow bits that she thought was its eyes but for all she knew about big bugs maybe the eyes were actually on its butt. That thought made her laugh; any wariness long forgotten.

She lifted a hoof, dangled it in the water before them for dramatic effect... and then splashed the cave worm back with a grin.

The worm seems to shake its - head? a little offendedly, though the tilt of it looked quite playful. It measuredly fell down into the water, close to...actually, half atop her, little limbs curling around her legs and back. The body followed, winding by her hooves.
The glow glittered on the water. They slipped a little deeper.

Splash was beginning to reconsider her initial assessment on the friendliness of the worm when it decided to crawl on top of her, little limbs doing their thing, pricking a little at her side. It wasn’t exactly light and she could feel herself sinking into the mud.

Still, maybe it just wanted a ride or a cuddle? Which was fair enough. Weird buggies deserved affection too. And it hadn’t bitten her yet, which was a nice. So friendly, yes? That was definitely the final judgement.

“This isn’t very comfortable,” she complained. “If you want to cuddle, can we leave the water first?”

She was taken aback by the candour of this rather self-assured doe, and the apparent lack of survival instinct, so part of her felt a little bad at her complaint.
The little limbs stopped moving and thoughtfully tapped on her backscales, before she wrapped the rest of herself around for a nice, big, if creepy hug.

Then the worm became a mare and said "I hope you live long enough to give birth," not unkindly, and her eyes glowed meaningfully at her, "and that your children have more self-preservation than you do."

She took off, wading into the water, and realising she should probably turn back into a caiman as she got deeper and deeper. At least that was done.

Splash is too sweet please don't get drowned by a worm. I think you can end it!

Splash appreciated the hug, pressed her head back into it as best she could while still wishing they were on dry land. She wasn’t sure she’d have the strength, not with her limbs stuck in the mud, to dislodge her guest in case of accidental drowning.

Then the worm was gone and Splash really should have known, what with her mother being The Mother, with the glowing eyes and the otherwordly muchness. At least she knew enough to realise she’d been blessed by her new friend. “Thank you,” she said gratefully, trying to stand, the mud sucking at her hooves.

“Hey wait,” she called at the retreating figure, “how about some more cuddles? We can still hang out! Have you met my mother? Hey, hey, hey!” She forced a step and nearly face-planted into the muck. “Oh bother.”

This girl was wayyy too friendly for comfort. The caiman swam away as fast as possible on little stumpy legs.
