Physical Description: D’arlo has blue eyes; neither light or dark blue, but a shade between that he calls “gray”. This is an inaccurate description, the color is more shade of a morning without the first rays of sun. He has brown hair that often falls past his forehead and into his eyes. When it reaches his eyes, he trims it. This gives it a bit of an uneven look in front. He’s usually has it tied back. His face is bony, and the rest of him is slim. Muscles aren’t well defined on him. He has a slow, but joyful smile. He seems like the type of man who used to laugh easily. He dresses in earthy shades, hues of blues and greens when is appropriate. This guy takes special care of how he looks, making sure there’s no dust on him. He doesn’t tolerate dirt or wrinkles on his clothes, lest it make his whole day dismal as the pre-thread dawn.

Personality: At first glance, D’arlo might seem like a quiet person. And he is, depending on who he’s with at the time. He prefers to observe those he doesn’t know well. He feels as if he can get to know someone by observing them rather than speaking to them, because people can lie. They manipulate. D’arlo is keenly aware that he has been tricked in the past. He trusts the wrong people, and this makes friendships difficult. When he does find that friendship, he is open and trusting in it. Those walls come down. (Loyal, positive.)

As a result of those manipulations, D’arlo’s emotional state can be thrown into array after an occurance, and it can take time to repair. He will rebuild walls that have been taken down even with people he still trusts and close himself off and may lash out in anger or fear, where the only person who can get through is his dragon. The person he should have those walls up for, however, is the person he trusts most. His sister. She can get him to do just about anything. She is the person he depends on, and also the person he’s most loyal to. He’s oblivious to her manipulation. (Gullible/Trusting, Negative)

Because he’s learned to be observant, while he isn’t empathic, he can read others’ expressions well. This attention to detail plays into his craft, and allows him to perform small, intricate tasks without growing tired, just as easily as he might play out a delicate conversation. His craft has given him something else, as well. The tiny seams and often repetive designs have given him the ability to sit to a task for long periods of time. He can manage his resources to make a few hours seem only as long as a few minutes in his mind. (Enduring, Positive)

He is motivated to learn and also to succeed. He wants to be best in every endeavor. He knows he’s a talented weaver, but dragonriding is still something he’s learning. After two years with his dragon, he still feels there’s much to learn. He didn’t get the chance to take candidate lessons, but he doesn’t feel as if he needs to compare himself to those that had. He is especially vain about his looks. Particularly his clothes. He spends more time on his clothing than he probably should, embroidering flits on hems for gathers. He enjoys the finer things, and when they are soiled or out of place, it can wreck his entire evening. History: Daviriarlo was born to wealthy weavers, and while his sister dreamed of becoming a dragonrider, he was content to follow in his parents’ footsteps. He followed for a time, learning everything he could. And life was good. Thread happened and took much of their livelihood—and their family too. He tried to stay in control. As the oldest, he was in charge. He wasn’t a master in his craft, but he had enough ability to make some marks with it. Thread shook him more than showed. His family had been torn apart, and there was no hope of reuniting with them. They were gone. Looking to make some marks, Davi headed the caravan towards the nearest hold, just outside Western's borders. There, a dragonrider had parked in the city, apparently out on Search. Devi hadn't paid him much more mind than manners required, instead setting up shop to tout sewn hems and fine embroidery. He'd had no plans towards the rider, or her dragon, when they approached, working a conversation all their own. He could not believe it when he was asked if he'd ever given thought to a Rider's life.

While he tried to tell the rider he was uninterested, his sister came wandering out to see what the noise and stuttering was. 'Oh, you meant THAT one!' the rider cooed, and Davi's heart sank, despite his disinterest. And with that, his sister was searched, and he was invited to watch the hatching. He didn’t really expect anything to come out of it, he still believed his sister belonged back home. The home they would rebuild together. That changed during the hatching when a voice rang in his head. The idea of watching his sister impress was lost to him, as he did, instead. He was hardly aware of it when she did later.

He didn’t know anything about dragons! He told the dragon so. This was a mistake. The dragon needed someone who knew how to properly care for him! You’ll learn to care for me. And I’ll learn to care for you! Were you surprised, my Davirsarlo? I wanted to surprise you! Surprise!

It certainly was a surprise. The boy had been encouraged to head down to the sands by the person next to him. He tried to catch his sister’s eye. He hadn’t meant for this to happen. Today was supposed to be her day! But he couldn’t reject the sweet creature, either. What was he supposed to do? The dragon, Tywinadolth, the baby reminded him, had a solution.

You could feed me, he offered. We can go see your sister after I eat! They grew, and as Tywinadolth had said, they learned to care for each other.

Physical Description: This dragon is chubbier than the average bronze, but otherwise he’s a decent size.
Personality: Tywiadolth is bored of this already. It would be more fun to do something new, wouldn’t it? This dragon finds the fun in everything, whether it’s duty or rest. He will encourage his rider to ease off the work if he feels D’arlo is overdoing it. Swimming will often be suggested. He embroiders like his rider, but he embroiders the truth in the stories he shares. While he would never lie to his rider as he knows how his rider feels about that, stories aren’t lies. They’re fun!

Life should be fun, and life hasn’t always been for D’arlo. He doesn’t like to see hardship, and this makes things difficult. He tries to focus on the best interest of his rider, but sometimes what D’arlo wants isn’t what Tywinadolth wants. D’arlo prefers to observe, but it’s quite the opposite with this dragon. Tywinadolth loves to socialize! The sunny days are better for talking too. He loves to find dragons at the beach.

His wingmates won’t be distracted by his chatting, however. Thread is the one thing Tywindolth takes seriously. He only calls out when needed.

Hello Thali! Let's see what we can do to get D'arlo ready for approval. biggrin

His previous rank/craft -- what rank of Weaver did he get to before Impressing? Based on his age and history, D'arlo likely would have been a Journeyman.

For personality traits, we'll need to take a look at flaws. They can be so tricky sometimes. "Afraid to lose people" isn't really a personality trait and can safely be removed. Similarly, having survivor's guilt also is not a trait, it's something that's universal to human nature.

Sensitive is listed as a negative trait, however the description of him being patient and somewhat empathic seems to fit this trait and sounds positive (it can be both!). There doesn't seem to be any information about how his sensitivity negatively affects his life. Is he easily offended? Does he read people's expressions with negative expectations and that's part of what makes him put up his emotional walls?

Along the same line, his vanity makes him concerned about his appearance, but what consequences does it have? Does he alienate himself by acting conceited, or get super stressed out and cranky if his hair won't cooperate or he's run out of his favorite oils?

For his history, one thing I would definitely need to point out is that non-Weyr people don't go to the Weyrs on their own unless invited or have clear business visiting, such as traders and people who run the supply caravans. His sister would have been Searched first, then they would have gone. (:

One small thing-- You need an actual physical description on the dragon. You don't have to go into his colors or pattern, but just a line or two-- is he big? Tall? Short? Fat? Skinny? Average on all fronts? Long claws? Stubby tail? Fat neck? Just give us a few things that make him unique and he'll be good to go.
