Physical Description: While short, Rylen is powerful, packing a strong punch for her size. Years of sailing on the seas and living among sailors and merchants has taught her to always keep her hair short, and even after a few years in a Weyr, it still tends to feel very dry to the touch. Before Impression, her skin had been much the same, dry and rough from her time on the sea, while post-Impression it's smoothed out thanks to Aghamorth getting oil on her during oilings. There are thick calluses on her hands, as much from her time at sea as her grass-dry hair.
Personality: Calm and steady as a rock at sea, Rylen isn't always quick to make decisions. Some she does recognize need a quick choice, but she'd rather weigh the pros and cons first. One of the few times she doesn't think is when a fight brews, quick to step into the defense of a person she believes wronged. Another she has no hesitations about is her love of the dragons, and the senses of both freedom flying gives and duty their instincts follow, a solid and good direction in life.
A life spent listening to her father's orders and knowing what failure to follow orders can mean just for a crew on a ship has led to her being obedient, provided it won't cause more problems down the line, while being unafraid to voice that something might not work... Even to those in charge. If it's something that will surely get somebody killed, regardless of who they are and what role they serve in the crew or the wing, Rylen will steadfastly be against it and try to find a way to do it without risking somebody... Or risk herself in their place, if she otherwise can't. This might easily be called foolhardy, but if it means somebody else doesn't potentially die or get injured, she'll do it. With Impressing her Aghamorth, this may have become stronger.
When she's not doing her duties as a rider, and when she was still a Candidate and had some time to herself, she could often be heard singing some rather bawdy and crude sea shanties. She's also seen little reason to curb her sailor's mouth, with no concern that Aghamorth might pick up such language.

History: The only daughter, and child, of a trader from the docks near Tillek Hold, to say Rylen was initially a disappointment to her father was an understatement. He wanted a strong strapping son, and he was left with just a daughter. Still, he made the best of it, and came out with a daughter who could fight dirtier than any man and a mind sharp as a dragon's claw at bargaining. She loved it, for sure, being out on the seas of Pern, sailing back and forth between the continents and visiting the many ports to trade, but Rylen's eyes were often drawn to the skies when dragons flew over, or came out of between.
When Thread returned, her father had made port at Rivercrest, something in his old bones telling him that they needed to be there. Rylen was securely away from danger when it struck, and left without her father's presence in her life and without the ship that would have been her birthright when he died. Luck was on her side, though, when a rider and her blue had been visiting town to check on everybody and the dragon saw something in Rylen. She was whisked back to Western Weyr where, now without her blood family, she threw herself into her new family, just as warm a welcome as any.
Rylen stood through several hatchings, though she didn't feel a rush to Impress. Her dragon, if there was surely one out there, would come in its own time. It was a lesson her father had taught her well, that things came in time as they came, there was no rushing them. There was also no predicting what one would get, as surely as he had wanted a son but had gotten an even better daughter, so Rylen knew that whatever she got, if she got it, would be absolutely perfect.
On a lonely beach, in hot sands far from any Weyr, Rylen met Hers. Her eyes met Aghamorth's, and her world suddenly felt far more complete. Come, Rylenmine, we'll paint the stars together, you and your Aghamorth! As with all Impressions, it was love at first contact, and Rylen threw herself into her new training as much as anything.

Physical Description: A stout and mostly compact dragon, Aghamorth could easily be described as plump. Her wings are broad, as if properly designed to carry her weight, while her tail and legs are short but powerful. Mischief often glimmers in her multifaceted eyes, which tend to stay in ranges of blues, greens, and purples.
Personality: Impatient and full of mischief, Aghamorth is ready to go go go NOW! Is that Thread she sees? She wants to get it! She's eager, ready to fight, but also ready to sneak up on others. She finds great companionship as a dragon in Fantoth, often found sneaking with the blue to cause mischief and mayhem together. She is tempered in at least her impatience by Rylen's much calmer demeanor.
