▱▰▱Kenshin examined his Reiken briefly but closely with his Byakugan. It was clearly not made from chakra otherwise his eyes would be able to see its composition with ease. However, the more he looked at it the more it became clear that it was an otherworldly object in a sense. How he was able to conjure it was also beyond his intellectual comprehension. However, from an emotional perspective, the Reiken was all too familiar. He allowed the aura surrounding his body to dissipate before sitting down again. He allowed his body several moments of rest before continuing his meditation. Kenshin persisted in his meditation while holding the Reiken in his hands above his lap. He felt the spirit sword guide him into a state of empathy and compassion. He was presented with challenging visions of when he was not empathetic. This was uniquely challenging for him because he often had to ignore most people's opinions and feelings in pursuit of justice. While he would never waiver from this pursuit he was bound by another code as a warrior to act in ways that help his fellow man. In his mission for absolute justice, he also needed to find ways to be of aid to others. While there were many instances when he helped Arashi's citizenry there were others when he had to follow the law in an absolute way which involved harming their interests. As Kenshin meditated he struggled with this dichotomy. What would he do when the opportunity arose? Would he help his fellow man or follow the law absolutely? It was clear that he should never defy the tenets of the laws he was meant to guard. At the same time, he also needed to lawfully benefit the citizens he was in service to. Kenshin reached this conclusion and felt his body pushing beyond its limits once again. He continued to focus on his breathing as he felt the new virtue state unlock. Kenshin stood and manifested several spirits that represented his inner demonstration of these virtues. His warrior spirits presented themselves as armored knights.

Kenshin breathed heavily as he finally allowed the aura that was pushing his physical powers forward die down. His spirit warrior manifestations also disappeared. He was beginning to show very apparent signs of physical exhaustion. Despite this, he still knew that there was more of the journey before him but that he was getting close. Despite not being told whatever this strange but powerful ability was he still being taught by the guidance of his Reiken. The sage warrior sat down once again but kept the Reiken in his hand. Once again, he meditated on the truths that his spirit weapon and the warrior spirit within were telling him. Kenshin then felt a sense of comfort as the blade showed his mind's eye the virtues of honesty and sincerity. He was always comfortable with the truth and lived a life dedicated to it. Despite the ease of which he was learning this virtue, the physical aspect was most challenging. While he continued his meditation he felt immense fatigue. He was tired to the bone at this point. Kenshin was accustomed to training intensely for hours on end but this was pushing beyond even his limits. He continued to focus on his breathing as he advanced his physical state. However, he was very much straining and constantly facing the temptation to rest. But he realized that if he was to unlock this new power then he needed to persist in this state of strenuous meditation. The veins in his arms tensed as he continued the meditation. His physical stamina was being pushed to the limits. Kenshin continued to focus on his breathing as he felt his heart rate elevate. He felt a spiritual ascendance with this virtue that his body struggled to catch up with. Finally, his eyes would glow with his spiritual essence along with the rest of his body. He let out an audible gasp as he opened his eyes and stood up. Kenshin felt the power coursing through him as he extended his sword arm. A detached ethereal sentinel sword arm appeared above it.
Sixth Virtue: Honesty Unlocked ▰ Warrior Spirit: Enlightened Blade [ Senshi no Seishin: Satotta Ha ] | Rank S | Complex
With a deep breath, he allowed the ethereal sword arm to disappear. The aura surrounding his body did likewise before he sank into his seventh meditative seated state. His still held the spectral katana in his hand and allowed his warrior spirit to guide him once again. Kenshin saw a daunting end of the journey ahead of him this time. His body was exhausted and his spirit was confronting a final challenge. It was as if he had to climb a mountain after having conquered six massive hills. His spirit showed him the way but he was still intimidated by the immense difficulty that he was presented with. The final virtue was absolute loyalty and duty. He had demonstrated this virtue in his journey as a warrior many times. However, the suspension of his ego beyond even what he had done as a sage required further advancement. He breathed intensely as he felt every muscle in his body tense. He had to focus with incredible intensity on the challenges he faced before. It was like always returning to the same place but pushing it even further beyond what he thought was possible. Kenshin's pride and ego and identity was beginning to be let go. He was a warrior and a vessel of powerful virtues now. Kenshin Kosei the police captain, the sannin, the sage, the templar of Evergreen, it was all being dismissed. He was now becoming his most virtuous self as he felt the spiritual aura leave his eyes and body. His Reiken strengthened and solidified to its absolute maximum. When he finally stood up and lifted out of his meditation a bijuu-sized dark blue spectral sentinel appeared behind him. Without looking back his Byakugan revealed this warrior. Kenshin extended his blade forward as his sentinel spirit followed suit. He was now at the peak perfection of virtue as a warrior.

Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. Kurotari. The Black Follow. Of all the places Soraru could have selected for his meeting with Kenshin Kosei it had to be one of the most dangerous areas in the land of floods. The former Jounin came from the sky, traveling via a flying kite to land on one of the cliffs overlooking the road. Once there, he stepped off of the stretched fabric and rolled it back up to place it in his pouch. "Hope this place is good enough for what we discussed." He muttered, taking time to look over the road and ponder their previous discussion.
The initial meeting went about as well as he expected it to. They both wanted something from the other, so they got right to the point about it. Kenshin wanted to pass the sword off to someone to focus completely on another weapon. He also wanted a better understanding of both the Raiu clan's techniques and possibly more insight into the rare art of Reiken no Michi. Soraru, on the other hand, was prompted by an old friend to follow a dream that died long ago. One that dealt with mastering one of the legendary swords found within the Shinobi villages. He was also invested in learning about Kenshin himself. It was rare for him to meet someone who also devoted themselves to their weapon. It was even less likely for him to meet someone who focused so wholly on the art that they could even begin learning Reiken no Michi, much less master it. They agreed to each other's terms and decided to meet for training at a place where they couldn't be interrupted.
If that was the case, what better place than Kurotari?
People tended to avoid the place for obvious reasons. There was electricity constantly discharging through the ground and the odds of being struck by lightning weren't low in the slightest. The dangerous beasts that made the road their home were also worth mentioning. In the times that he did train since taking a leave from Shinobi duty, he always did so at Kurotari to imitate a training partner. For if one couldn't dodge lightning and cut down beasts, how could they consider themselves a great swordsman? Soraru didn't sense any particular charge or danger, so he sat down at his spot on the cliff and took out a scroll from his pouch. It was just a simple record of Ninjutsu he meant to learn some time ago. Unaware of how much time he would have to sit around waiting for Kenshin, he sat atop the cliff and gazed upon his scroll.

▱▰▱Kenshin heard the sky's continuous rumble as he marched through Kurotari. It was almost as dark as midnight despite being midday. He saw the swordsman he was supposed to be meeting with on a cliffside as he entered the area. As he walked a massive bolt of lightning struck the ground two yards behind him. The thunder shook his bones but he remained unflinching. This would illuminate him enough to be seen by Soraru vantage point from above upon his approach. He circled around and walked up the steep slope before standing behind the seated man. "Musunde Hiraite." He said in a flat toned greeting using his legal name with a respectful bow. As a staunch proponent of legalism, he believed that no name mattered beyond what society officially identified them as. Kenshin himself was unable to register with the family name he was born with so it no longer mattered compared to the black letter name he chose for himself. After his initial meeting with the younger man, he conducted a background check using Arashigakure's records. Kenshin would have certainly refused to train him with Nuibari if his criminal record was less than pristine.
Kenshin expected that he would one day train his primary apprentice, Kojiro Kanzaki, to use Nuibari. However, it was clear that the needle was not suitable for his skillset so he had to find another candidate. Kenshin placed his hand on the needle's eye. Soraru would easily see the legendary sword from Kirigakure on his hip. Kenshin felt no sense of ownership or sentimentality over the weapon that had many wielders before him. It was given to him by his former Arashikage and its infinite wire had proven useful for a number of arrests but holding it felt empty to him compared to the wholeness that came from wielding Getsuruito. Assuming Soraru would stand to greet him, Kenshin would initiate conversation after a few seconds spent quietly contemplating the message he wanted to convey. "It is essential for enlightened warriors to share knowledge and wisdom with one another. Especially if they are of the same allegiance. I was able to learn powers that I don't fully understand. Despite having the discipline to do so it's unresponsible for me to proceed in their usage with incomplete knowledge. I don't consider myself a master until my understanding is whole." Kenshin lifted his right hand from its rested position on Nuibari's eye. Once his arm was fully extended in front of him an ethereal rapier appeared in his hand with immediacy. He firmly tightened his grip on the otherworldly spirit sword's handle. His hand was protected by the basket hilt as the sword's night blue light glowed. "This is Getsuruito. It's a sword restored out of legend that has two forms." Kenshin then allowed the sword to remold its constitution into a katana with a draconic-designed handle. "This is Getsuruito's original form. I learned the honorable craft of blacksmithing to restore the millennium-aged katana that originally belonged to a revered general of Seizan. It's difficult to explain but when I restored it the katana completely absorbed Purity, the rapier I was given by the KPD that was able to channel the gentle fist. Now it is able to do the same in a modified rapier form. it seemed to choose me as its new master. I felt such a strong connection to the sword that I began to meditate with it until it became bound to my soul and made into some sort of energy that isn't chakra." Kenshin thoroughly explained the process of his learning Reiken no Michi. He had many questions about the mysterious art. Kenshin then lowered his arm but still held the katana beside him. "What is this and how is it possible?" It was a simple question that held deep personal weight for him. The combination of his learnign Reiken no Michi and the sage arts had turned him from a man of rage on a crusade to a man of wisdom who was able to continue his path toward justice with greater precision. Kenshin had further questions regarding his transplanted Raiu abilities but would refrain from asking them for now. Learning about Reiken no Michi was his first priority and from what he understood Soraru would be able to give him some insight.

Musunde stood at the sound of a name so scarcely used that it was almost foreign to him, turning to see the owner of Nuibari. He still remembered his initial shock at seeing Kenshin, whose height and mass betrayed his expectations of what he imagined Nuibari's wielder would look like. Being able to make nimble, agile motions even in that state was impressive. After returning the Captain's gesture with a bow of his own, Musunde listened to the man without making any interruptions.
The more he listened, the more he knew exactly what to say. He'd been in the same position once, wondering what the source of such power was. If there was danger in using it. If he deserved it. If it weren't for his time spent in the Iron Country as a child being surrounded by the storied Samurai who protected their Shogun, he likely would have failed in his attempts to find answers. Learning Reiken no Michi wasn't as simple as flipping through a scroll and going through motions. It took a certain person to gain access. Not only one who was strong but also one who overcame their trials without weakening themselves in the process. One thing he couldn't explain, however, was the reason for his weapon transforming. He knew the written reason but couldn't pull it from his own experiences, so there was no vouching for it in terms of accuracy. He only spoke when Kenshin finished, and even then there was a silent lull before he began in which he formulated his explanation. "Before I start giving you the answers you're after, I want to let you know that I appreciate your way of thinking. Too many people throw caution to the wind to play with powers they don't understand. I've met my fair share of swordsmen who failed to reach their pinnacle because they viewed their power as a weapon instead of a force to be understood." The pinnacle of swordsmanship was something he spent the entirety of his life as a warrior trying to reach. It was a path followed exclusively by samurai but eventually started bleeding into the Shinobi world over time. The ultimate understanding of both an individual's limitations as a warrior and the mastery of their weapon. While it was once assumed that mastery was limited to knowledge of a weapon down to its last technique, that way of thinking was ruined by the mere existence of Reiken no Michi. A sword was more than bladed steel just as a human was more than the heart beating in their chest.
"In simple terms, the art you're referring to involves taking everything that's a part of you and bringing it to the surface in the form of a weapon. It is essentially the manifestation of your soul, and it's called Reiken no Michi. Certain things are bound to us from the moment we're born, whether they be bloodlines or heirlooms. Things that would come back in some way no matter how hard we try to discard or avoid them. Were you to abandon Getsuruito, it would somehow find its way back to your hand through either a strong desire to reobtain it or some other whim of fate. It's a part of you, the you that appears when you draw forth your spirit weapon. That's why. There's...there's only one problem with my explanation, though." Musunde's words carried conviction save for those that came at the end. It was the only time he wavered. Holding up his hand, he turned his palm upwards so that he could summon his Reiken horizontally in his grasp for Kenshin to see clearly. It was merely the same bright blue, almost white color that was found in the aura of the virtue states. It wasn't the same deep aquamarine that came when he manifested his chakra to the surface. It also held no intricacies such as a distinct same, tsuka-ito or tsuba. It was a bright manifestation in the shape of a katana. "Even if I were to use over a hundred different blades, I'd never be able to bind a weapon to my soul. The katana I received from my father on my eleventh birthday; the one I used for all my battles as a Shinobi for Kumogakure, was lost in the battle that saw two of Kumo's strongest warriors die. I'd find it, but it was deep in the mountains in an unmarked area. The mission was kept off records so things like where and when just don't exist." The swordsman realized something then, and a stoic smile replaced his normally dissatisfied looking neutral expression. "I can't confirm anything from my own experience, sure, but I guess that your ability to bind Getsuruito to your soul and my lack of a bound weapon speaks to the truth of that explanation." With that, he hoped he answered Kenshin's questions about why his weapon acted the way it did. Not wanting to turn the conversation into a sob story about his inability to bind weapons, Musunde dispersed his Reiken and continued speaking. He still needed to explain exactly what the art was, and how the captain obtained it.
"You can't rise as far as you have in the Shinobi world without being a strong warrior, but strength alone doesn't determine who gains access to Reiken no Michi. It can't be understood by those that can break down jutsu to their base components because it isn't chakra. It's a force that reaches beyond that. It's the weaponized will drawn out from someone who embodies the conviction of the perfect warrior. Embodies Bushido. Whether you knew it or not, you followed those tenants in some way or another and delving deep into the art changed you. It made you more than your internal disputes and brought you closer to the pinnacle." Musunde expected his words to resonate in some way within the captain. Gaining access to a new virtue state was unlike anything he'd ever experienced before. If one struggled with a tenant of Bushido, it forced them to overcome themselves or fail. Even after all the time he spent, he was still locked off from the final virtue state because of his inability to declare his undying loyalty to something.
"You were tested, weren't you? When you started learning. You made decisions on things you've struggled with for a long time, maybe even pushed to the back of your mind. That should be all the proof you need. Is there anything else you need to know about this?"

▱▰▱Kenshin knew that it was of vital importance to understand this incredible Reiken power before using it. If there were unintended consequences in the usage of his foreign and strange power then it would be a complete miscarriage of his duty. Because of this conviction, Kenshin listened carefully and quietly to the explanation given as well as his personal experience and perspective. Reiken no Michi. His thoughts repeated the name Soraru called the mysterious art he learned. The explanation he was given was deeply philosophical and abstract but it wrang true for his experience. Kenshin's eyes sharpened as they were stabbed by the nearly-white blue light of his Reiken. When it was presented to him he looked down at the much darker blue of Getsuruito's energy. When he looked back up he listened further to the caveat of his previous explanation. Learning that Soraru had lost his own katana caused Kenshin to feel a pang of genuine sympathy. Studying Reiken required that he embrace the virtue of compassion which reshaped the bedrock of the zealot's soul. He felt as though forcibly parting with Purity and, subsequently, Getsuruito would have left him in a state of unwholeness like having his arm severed off. Kenshin then silently agreed with the assessment that Getsuruito's binding to his soul and Soraru's lack of a specific bound weapon supported his perspective on Reiken. The idea that following Bushido and pursuing the virtues shifted him also struck a chord. His memories of the event were only a week old and still rather fresh.
When he was asked if he was challenged during the learning process he was able to easily recall the intense memories. He remembered the physical exhaustion and personal trials of unlocking each virtue state which led to more questions. "The training was intense but not in the way most high-level training is. Getsuruito taught me and spoke to me without words but with visions. The sword seemed to have a deep familiarity with me despite its original owner being an ancient man lost to time. I believe that's because it absorbed Purity, the sword I've had for a decade. If that's true and why is a mystery to me still." Kenshin paused realizing that Soraru would not be able to provide an answer and that he was rambling. He needed to focus on the more relevant details. "An energy flowed through me that was the same as the Reiken that pushed my body beyond its limits. There were seven stages and each one felt like climbing a mountain that was taller than the last. They were basic values and some were more challenging for me to embody than others. Integrity, respect, courage, honor, compassion, honesty, and loyalty were the values that I meditated on. Since I knew nothing about Bushido it seemed that Getsuruito was guiding me. For you, it seems that your knowledge and adherence to those values allowed you to train even without your true weapon so you were able to manifest a substitute." Kenshin supposed that he and Soraru began at different starting points before ending in the same place. It was clear to him that he needed Getsuruito before he could start learning simply because of ignorance of bushido. "The Reiken energy reminded me of natural energy. Chakra could be applied to it but it was not chakra itself. Except natural energy is the bonding of the world and this was more...individual. It's interesting that the samurai were able to discover this power, but why not shinobi? I wonder what other sources of undiscovered potential there are." Kenshin was fascinated by Reiken no Michi's central concept of being a manifestation of will. However, there was another aspect of Reiken that he needed to inquire about. "I know that I'm able to use the Reiken without pushing my body beyond its limits. Every time I allow the energy to flow through me I become much stronger physically than without it but the cost seems to be exhaustion. But there are certain techniques that I can only use when I reach those pinnacle points. I am able to summon a massive warrior made of the same energy who follows my own movements. What does this represent? What are these pinnacle points?" Kenshin was unable to accurately express the virtue states and the manifestation of his warrior spirit and needed to know more.

There were quite a few topics to cover, but Musunde thought it best to cover them individually rather than ramble out a blanket response. "I think it's best to start with the reason why the Samurai clans were able to draw it out before Shinobi. In the academy, you learn techniques that aid in deception. Cloning, transformation, and substitution. As a ninja, you're expected to lie, steal, and do whatever's necessary to complete the objective. Samurai, on the other hand, learn techniques like the Bushi ken technique, Kai, and Shunshin to start their training. I think regardless of how you started, your devotion to the Police helped you avoid a habit for deceit while you began following other aspects of Bushido. A normal Samurai with enough skill in the blade can find themselves learning it naturally, but the circumstances rarely present themselves in the life of a normal Shinobi." He hoped that explanation would suffice. Kenshin embodied justice, so he might have seen himself above things like deceit or dishonor without even realizing it. Musunde heard the stories about the paragon of justice that fought for Arashigakure, and he could tell that they weren't exaggerated. There was a certain air he gave off along with an unshakeable demeanor that spoke volumes without him needing to utter a sound.
"As for your other questions, it's taken me some time to find an answer. I've been searching for a long time, and I believe that everyone's soul has a manifestation beyond just a weapon. Samurai, knights, priests, barbarians or gods. Every Reiken user associates with one of these more than another, and it becomes the embodiment of our soul when we battle. We become stronger and use techniques otherwise out of our reach because we're drawing out more of our soul onto the surface. There are different stages of power that can be reached that represent the amount we've drawn from. These are called virtue states because of the tests that need to be completed before they can be used in the first place. So long as you don't stray from the path, they'll always be available to you." While he was curious about what kind of warrior spirit Kenshin had, it wasn't integral to their conversation. "That warrior spirit of yours is a reflection of the strength in your devotion to Bushido, Chivarly or whatever code it is that you follow, Kosei-san. That warrior you summon is only so large because of the strength you have in what you believe in, not the power that can be found in your body."
The conversation turned out to be a good experience for both of them. Having another perspective on Reiken no Michi greatly improved Musunde's theories that he'd been working on for years. If Zaishin wasn't closed off to him he could have unlocked all the mysteries a long time ago, but that was a path no longer available. All he could do was be thankful to himself that he didn't give up in trying to understand more before his meeting with Kenshin. "There are still more secrets waiting to be discovered. New ways to utilize the soul besides just weaponizing it. I've learned how to directly interact with beings made of chakra like the Bijuu in these lands and the Yokai in the Iron Country. I wonder what you'll end up creating."

▱▰▱The way Musunde described samurai sounded quite admirable to him. Nonetheless, he was certain that there must be elements of corruption in that society. The human condition had its wretched as well as righteous elements. What he went onto say about the average samurai being able to innately ascertain at least the themes of Reiken no Michi raised a point of inquiry for him. "I imagine this art is still rare even among the samurai given its difficulty. Is that correct?" Kenshin asked and contemplated the implications of Reiken being of widespread use of a nation. He was quite intimidated by the prospect of an entire army being able to harness this level of power through their resolve as warriors. Nevertheless, Musunde's insight that the samurai discovered Reiken before the shinobi because of their devotion to Bushido was not lost on Kenshin.
His explanations on the various milestones that he experienced during his training wrang true to him with immediacy. He nodded before repeating what he called these seven distinct modes of power. Virtue states. The name seemed apt to him for describing what those modes of power were. Through harnessing the most potent commitments of the ideal warrior, higher states of virtue could be achieved. Kenshin recalled what his warrior spirit appeared as and was fascinated by the concept of it varying between individuals. "When we look into ourselves we can always find strength. The deeper we dig into our inner resources the more we can find. Just when we believe that we've hit the bedrock is merely the precipice of discovering more depth. That innate strength seems to be what Reiken is but I don't think it's reserved for the righteous." Kenshin's comments on the resiliency of the human spirit were manifest from the many trials of his own life. He paused for a moment before expanding on his reasoning. "Because the samurai have the distinction of being the first to discover this, they applied their own code to it. This code is one of honor but I believe that this innate power of the soul, while presented virtuously, has the potential of being corrupted. Kogarashi had the will to generate great power from their evil beliefs. There are many willful individuals who are purely devoted to their misguided paths and may be able to learn Reiken no Michi as a result. Now that is the true force to fight against." Kenshin presented this thesis matter of factly and without fear. He believed that the power of pure devotion to Reiken no Michi would be able to conquer the perversion of it in the end.
Musunde's statement that there are likely many potential paths of manifesting the soul was an interesting philosophical comment. When Musunde finished, Kenshin looked down at his Reiken before allowing it to dissipate. Despite it no longer being physically there it always seemed to have an innate presence for him. "Interesting. The chakra that flows through all of us in its purest form is natural energy. But even an entity as beautiful as that has been perverted by other entities like the forbidden seals. Don't be certain that Reiken no Michi couldn't meet the same fate. Be watchful of that." Kenshin stated this response in relation to his earlier thesis regarding the possible corrupting of Reiken no Michi.
Kenshin looked up into the still thunder-crackling sky above them. This reminded him of the final matter of inquiry that he needed to ask Musunde about. He returned his sharp gaze to Musunde before inhaling and exhaling in a perfectly even way. Powerful bolts of dark blue lightning surrounded his body as he breathed. This was a simple manifestation of the Raiu thunder breathing that he had no doubt Musunde would be familiar with. Once he stopped, he allowed the electricity to dissipate. "Some time ago I received a genetic transplant on accident from my apprentice, Kojiro Kanzaki, of the Hatake clan. It turned my lightning into the same color as my chakra and greatly empowered skills I already knew like the Chidori. After that, I received another form of lightning-based DNA. The skills I learned after obtaining those genetics were distinct from those of the Hatake. It was almost like its own distinct martial art that flowed from stage to stage, unlike Hatake whose techniques are unique ninjutsu between each other. I don't know the significance of this power. Would you offer me insight?" Unfortunately, Kenshin had very little understanding of what this power was. He realized that it made his skills with an ionic sword much more refined but the background information of this art eluded him entirely.

The Hatake's chidori raiton inflicts a tier of full-body paralysis that is equivalent to the technique's rank up to the second tier. Nuibari Attributes • Infinite Needles | While Nuibari functions perfectly fine as a long, thin blade that sits between a Jian and a Foil. It's comprised of infinite, instantly replenishing needles. If an opponent is stabbed, the blade will leave several needles inside of the opponent. It also never runs out of string either, with one at the base of the weapon, and one attached to each needle. Similarly, unhindered, the weapon always comes back when thrown for the techniques below, and can be pulled to the user free of activation via its wire so long as the nigh-invisible string is not cut. • Thread the Needle | This skill increases the speed of the wielder moderately while Nuibari is wielded.
Discipline & Cross Class Attributes • Expert: Rapier | The user has achieved a sense of mastery and focus unlike others and are known as an Expert, a dedicated focus over a weapon they use to near perfection. The shinobi can pick a single weapon, or two if dual wielding, to apply this focus toward with examples such as Katana, Spear, Bows or even Dual Daggers. They acquire a Keystone technique that is unique to them with an additional 2 Custom Techniques derived of this special ability. Refer to the Keystone Guideline for more information. They gain a [+1] boost to both speed and agility & techniques cost [5] less Chakra and/or Stamina per rank of the technique when wielding attacks with their specialized weapon in attack or defense. • Mystic Hero | The user has become adept at blending their ninjutsu and bukijutsu. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. Kenshin provided a viewpoint that Musunde hadn't considered before. The conviction necessary wasn't synonymous with purity or Bushido alone. While he hadn't come across anyone who wielded their soul with evil intentions, that didn't mean no such person existed. It was something he'd need to pay attention to in the future. Then there came the topic of Reiken no Michi's possible perversion. If and when it came to that, he'd devote himself to cutting it apart.
It finally came to the part of the conversation he knew he'd have trouble with—the Raiu techniques. Musunde merely smiled in response to Kenshin's display of colored lightning. It was impressive, and he found himself a little envious of his control with lightning. Some people had all the luck. An accidental Hatake implant just seemed a little too good to be true. "If we're talking about it from a Shinobi-oriented mindset, it's much like how the Dojutsu clans used to be kept secret to their respective villages, or how the Ketsueki clan keeps to itself even today. To call it significant would be a severe understatement. I'm sure it'd cause a political uproar if they found out a foreign Shinobi had full access." Musunde's lighthearted laugh betrayed just how serious the issue was. If he still had an affiliation with Zaishin, he'd be committing treason by letting Kenshin walk free. Then there was the possibility that whoever he got that implant from was related to the samurai somehow. "It's a sign of nobility. Fathers teach their sons in the samurai clans, and the art is taught only to those in the family. Commoners who perform exceptional feats or win competitions may receive access to the techniques and nobility, but the one you have isn't like the others. A commoner may have access to the Seiryu's blood or the Seinaru, but a Raiu currently sits as the Shogun to Zaishin. Implants of our DNA aren't allowed so long as Seizo sits on the throne." He truly did hope that Kenshin realized how vital it was to keep his implant a secret when it came to future encounters with Zaishin.
For the time being, though, he'd need to address his affiliation. Kenshin was a smart guy who'd have questions. Musunde understood that. "With that said, you're probably wondering why I'm able to wander around with such freedom. I'm not a Samurai of Zaishin anymore; I'm a former Shinobi of Kumogakure and Arashigakure. It's because I was also once the son of that man: Seizo Raiu, the Shogun. I don't think you want to sit around and listen to all the drama that led to me eventually running away from the Iron country, but I like to think it was one last small kindness from my father to wipe my name from their history. Nobody hunts me. It's like I never existed, and to speak my name in the presence of the Raiu is a crime. Maybe he trusted me enough to know that I wouldn't give away the secrets of our clan. I'll never be able to see my home again, but I can have peace knowing that I'm not their enemy." His smile had melted away into a somber expression, but there was no helping it. He didn't say it, but there was an inevitable event lying in wait. Zaishin would one day find itself an enemy of the Shinobi world, and Musunde would need to say goodbye to that peace he cherished finally.
"What you have there is both a key and a weapon. I'd be worried if it were any other, but I trust you'll use it wisely, Kosei Taichou."

▱▰▱Now that he had some awareness of what this foreign method of lightning and blade manipulation signified he was committed to its discretion. Musunde was offering him sensible counsel on the matter that the police captain carefully considered. He quietly listened to all of his words before formulating his response. "I will wield this power with discretion for the sake of peace. I'll need to train in it further to see if I can create techniques of my own. Perhaps it'll become less recognizable if I create techniques unique to me alone." The warrior sage considered this possibility and was curious to hear if Musunde found it advisable. If he refrained from using the traditional techniques but needed to use the kekkei genkai for any reason then perhaps his innovations would disguise his possession of it as mere lightning-based bukijutsu. "The techniques of the Hatake and Raiu complement each other but it'd be ignorant to claim that they're the same. The Hatake techniques are powerful but designed for the fast assassination style of the shinobi with quick strikes to decisively end a skirmish. The core of the Raiu techniques is the lightning breath. Inhaling and internalizing the electricity before boldly releasing it as a warrior. Perhaps any use of the lightning breath method would be obvious to the samurai even if I attempt to disguise it." Kenshin continued to quietly consider the implications of any form of usage. He became uncomfortable with thinking aloud as he paused to permit Musunde a possible response. "No, I believe there's more honor in abstaining from its use than trying to disguise a noble art." He broke the silence of philosophical speculation with a decisive response and the reason he came to that conclusion. "I'll not transgress your trust in me through recklessness." Kenshin promised as he allowed his lightning to dissipate altogether. "When I began my training as a genin police shinobi my fighting style was solely the application of the gentle fist through the rapier. Lightning was merely one of my coincidental elemental affinities at the time, as was wind. But now, after all of my training in it, I'm developing an almost spiritual connection to lightning. The Raiu and Hatake implants have unlocked more possibilities for me on the journey to mastery of it." Kenshin mused on this point and found it of interest as he reviewed his combat development thus far. He knew many shinobi who were born with such kekkei genkai and dedicated themselves wholly to lightning, such as Kojiro. However, Kenshin was finding that he was reaching those levels of specialization in lightning ninjutsu over time as well.
Kenshin then began considering Musunde's plight in his alienation from his clan. This was a matter that Kenshin could understand as his father was the rogue heir to the lightning Hyuga and Kenshin was the product of that dishonor. He felt as if he was the extension of his father's fall from grace when he was dismissed from the clan by his grandfather, Lord Hajime Hyuga. He quietly considered this and what Musunde had expressed as he felt thunder rumble above him. The thunder caused him to bite the inside of his cheek as he considered his response to this. "Don't assume where walking the honorable path you're on may take you, Musunde. Conducting yourself nobly with consistency may lead you to your rightful place. But if it doesn't, then you can be assured in knowing that you were worthy of it." Kenshin offered some reassurance to his new student with the advice he wished he had been given years ago. He had a suspicion that if Musunde continued to be a righteous man then circumstances may change and he could return to his clan and homeland.

Applying Chidori chakra to the Juken consumes a second offensive activation. • Storm Sage | Lightning techniques cast while in sage mode and when enhanced by nature chakra burn brighter and inflict a tier of blindness that is equivalent to the technique's rank. This blindness lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. • Stern Spirit | Reiken no Michi virtue states cost one rank less in stamina to activate and maintain. The stamina cost of the virtue states cannot be reduced beyond this.
Nuibari Attributes • Infinite Needles | While Nuibari functions perfectly fine as a long, thin blade that sits between a Jian and a Foil. It's comprised of infinite, instantly replenishing needles. If an opponent is stabbed, the blade will leave several needles inside of the opponent. It also never runs out of string either, with one at the base of the weapon, and one attached to each needle. Similarly, unhindered, the weapon always comes back when thrown for the techniques below, and can be pulled to the user free of activation via its wire so long as the nigh-invisible string is not cut. • Thread the Needle | This skill increases the speed of the wielder moderately while Nuibari is wielded.
Discipline & Cross Class Attributes • Expert: Rapier | The user has achieved a sense of mastery and focus unlike others and are known as an Expert, a dedicated focus over a weapon they use to near perfection. The shinobi can pick a single weapon, or two if dual wielding, to apply this focus toward with examples such as Katana, Spear, Bows or even Dual Daggers. They acquire a Keystone technique that is unique to them with an additional 2 Custom Techniques derived of this special ability. Refer to the Keystone Guideline for more information. They gain a [+1] boost to both speed and agility & techniques cost [5] less Chakra and/or Stamina per rank of the technique when wielding attacks with their specialized weapon in attack or defense. • Mystic Hero | The user has become adept at blending their ninjutsu and bukijutsu. The user is able to cast ninjutsu from their weapon without the use of hand signs by making any flourish or deliberate movement to cast the technique in the direction the weapon is commanded. This requires the same amount of time as the forming of hand signs to cast ninjutsu. They are also able to Korabo 1 ninjutsu and 1 bukijutsu together with varying cool downs for a single activation. You can cast bloodline techniques through one-handed seals. {The Overwhelming Trait does not apply to anything above S} • Dedicated Disciple | A disciple who chooses to specialize in a small number of their class's arts. Limiting themselves to three of their class's styles, granting overwhelming in all three styles up to S Rank. Any additional slots that would be awarded for their class's styles are converted into a 2 point increase in any stats of their choosing. In addition, these masters of their arts are able to have a 1 point increase in their stats cap of 8 making it 9. Styles granted from rewards may be learned but do not carry the overwhelming property and the user is capped out at 5 styles.

It also has a rapier form that was refined from Purity and is entirely constructed from steel with a dark blue handle and basket hilt. The katana and rapier forms are the same size and constructed of the same materials. Getsuruito was considered a legendary artifact by the people of Seizan as it was wielded by an ancient general. When the rusted blade was awarded by the locals to Kenshin Kosei he discovered that it had the unique ability to merge with and empower one other weapon. When the katana was reworked to its fullest potential it had the abilities of his own weapon in addition to incredible lightning abilities. ▰ Ability Summary: Righteous Sword of the Sentinel [ Senchineru no Seigi no Ken ] | Rank E | Bloodline | Spiritual All forms of Hyuuga techniques including the gentle fist can be used through the sword for the 10 posts that this technique is active. This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.
Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no Sumittinguburēdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.
