Physical Description: Standing at 5'4" at best, Sura is never the less a powerful presence. She is broad shouldered, and frankly put very chubby, with wild, dark hair, olive skin, and light amber eyes. She never the less, exudes a certain unspoken warmth.
Personality: Between being the oldest child, a Goldrider, and a mother, Sura handles being looked to for guidance even if at Western she holds no status (and is frankly glad for it) rather well. Being brought problems is a task she handles with a clear understanding that her solutions will not always be enjoyed. She is exceedingly fair and has no trouble with hard truths - including informing certain parties that they brought all their troubles upon themself.
Unfortunately for those parties, they will find her desire to solve the problems of others to be a limited supply. Her patience with repeated trouble (or troublemaker/magnet) that stems from the same issues will wane quickly and repeat offenders will find her unwilling to save them. She can, and does, get cranky rather quickly with others and her grace can be a fickle thing that changes standards on a dime.
Sura is not set out to impress anybody, not because she is confident, but simply because she used all of her energy to do so early in life. This has given her the freedom of brutal honesty but also an apathy to social blowback that may occur because of her strong opinions - even though none of them are ever purposely mean.
Her thick skin also keeps her from taking things personally in turn and she is fully able to accept criticism aimed her way without rejecting it to her detriment.

History: Sura was the daughter her father never asked for, and it was obvious that Basuran favored his sons that came after her. While not unloved, it was clear to her that even if she were to become the Mastersmith he would never look at her hard work the same way he did her brothers. She took in his scrutiny for Turns to her own agony, trying desperately to fit into his box.
Frustration still seeded itself in her heart, knowing she could never be good enough for him. This came to a head when Basuran expressed disappointment when only his eldest and only daughter was Searched to stand before a Benden clutch. Sura allowed herself to feel a little spite when she left, told by her father he would not leave a space in his successful trade for her if she did.
She steeled herself to what she could go home to while at the Weyr, burying it only so deep as she joined the other candidates. At her first Touching one egg - painfully small - exuded it's own frustration under her hand, a flavor so strong that it tasted familiar.
This space is just too small for you, but out here there will be plenty of it. she comforted.
When the hatching came, the little egg struggled, feeding suspicions of the little egg that seemingly could not break their own shell - a white, perhaps. Sura quietly sent the little egg images of all the things they had to look forward to, willing them to break free. The little dragon rumbled so loudly and with so much fervor the egg rolled as if propelled by it before finally a large crack split the side, the tips of a wing peeling out of it before the furious spreading of said wing opened the shell like a door, allowing cramped limbs that had been tangled in wings, tail, and each other to stretch.
She was not a white. She was very gold - and impossibly large to have been tucked away in so small an egg. The young queen rolled over onto her legs, making a show of stretching out to her full size, like unfolding a blanket. Sura watched in awe.
Then came the surge of feelings, like an entire body had pressed itself up under her chin, making her stand up a little taller. Now you do it. Support, love - but no rainbows. Do what? Sura dared ask. Leave your small space - be SuraMine. This time a flood of emotion tainted in rainbow hues, mirrored in the young dragon's eyes, summoning the woman to her. As she crouched by her, Sura squared up her shoulders proudly, "Then you will be my Esurienth."
Benden would feel too cramped for the pair quickly and they would leave Benden to find a better fitting space. Western's more flexible nature appealed greatly to both dragon and rider, who settled in quickly. Sura was content to continue her smithing at Western, passing the trade along to each of her children - who were all born much later in her life.
Sura, with some disappointment and a lot of anger to the lives lost, had to retire her trade completely when Threadfall returned but can still be found tinkering with various projects.
Other: Sura has 5 children - the oldest is in their mid 30s and the youngest is barely old enough for candidacy.
DRAGON
Name: Esurieth
Age: 55
Color: Gold
Size: 51'
Physical Description: There is nothing delicate about Esurieth. She is a behemoth in build with a large wingspan to keep her airborn. Her headknobs are particularly long and thick and curve ever so slightly inwards.
Personality: Esurieth is all raw edges. While not unkind she can be extremely coarse and tends to intimidate any who are unfamiliar with her. This is mostly because she is prone to sit and stare in a rumbling silence for long periods of time or will act without speaking or make any attempt to soothe any frayed nerves.
Most contact with Esurieth come in the form of mental nudges, filled to the brim with emotional charge, rather than words. When words are necessary, they are to the point and almost neutral in tone, dressed in actual emotion rather than words to emphasize it. It is not unusual for an exchange with her to only end up at a few sentences.
In addition, Esurienth is a territorial dragon and is prone to suspicion in new, unknown faces. She is very unlikely to be fond of both candidates and dragon/riders that have not been vetted by Hers or have been on her radar for a while.
As a side effect of being cramped up in her egg, Esurienth has problems with small and crowded spaces. The crowds that clutching draws is barely tolerated between that and her desire to guard her eggs.
