Selina approached the temples of her village to begin her journey of prayer. Ever since the tragedy of the kogarashi attack, she had prayed alone for the lives lost. It was hard for her to be back into the combat, and because of that, a moment of prayer alone helped her recover. In a pew she sat to the statue of Evergreen; the now known goddess which helped Kenshin fight the forces of Sandayu. It was strange to her that a goddess literally appeared to assist, especially since she was raised in the ways of Ninshuu, but her prayers of gratitude was sent to the envoy of nature.

That was when she felt a strange warmth generate from her heart. Selina recognized the power calling to her as she placed her right hand onto of her chest. "Konohana no Sakuya." She said as she released her hand from her chest, and a wave of blue fire erupted from her. The Goddess appeared in a flash of flames as she hovered over the pews in front of where Selina sat. "Good afternoon. It's strange for you to call out while in a time of peace." Selina asked. The goddess gave off an inhumane shriek as she was known to do. Selina assumed that was the goddess's attempt to speak, but the only person she knew who could understand her was the Yamamoto who gave her the transplant. A terrifying thought came into her mind as she realized why her friend may have demanded to be summoned.

"We are in a time of peace, right?" She asked. The spirit nodded, which allowed Selina to take a breath of reprieve. However, Selina noticed that the spirit was still in a state of unease. "What's the problem Konohana?" She asked. The spirit suddenly turned and flew off toward the exit. This was strange to Selina, as the goddess usually moved on the instructions of Selina. "Konohana!" Selina shouted as she leaped out of her pew. The agile shinobi trailed behind the spirit and was led down a strange pathway. The spiraling staircase was something she had never seen before, and it seemed to end in a strange, circular room.

In the center of the room was a burning bush burning with the same blue fire which Konohana no Sakuya manifested in. Selina used her sensory powers to detect that the chakra burning the branch in an eternal flame was that of sage chakra. The goddess moved toward the bush and floated above it. She was then engulfed in the flames, but seemed to be in no pain. "Selina." The spirit said, her words caused Selina to gasp. "This remnant of the mother's chakra. While it's active, we should be able to communicate until you get the power to understand me fully." The Goddess' voice was a lot younger than Selina thought it would sound. She always imagined the spirit of an immortal deity to sound as old as the trees.

"Wait, Evergreen is your mother?" Selina asked. Konohana nodded. "She is the mother of all. This world is bathed in her lifeblood." The goddess declared. Her bug like eyes focused deeply on Selina she stared with a penetrating glare. "Selina Rosewater. Do you know why I chose you to be my patron?" She asked.

"Well, Sorato said that you were inspired by me. The fact that I got up after..." She was hesitant to finish her sentence, but finished it nonetheless. "The tragedy of Seizan." The spirit nodded. "Humans are curious creatures. They were not part of the mother's plans. However, they carve the world to mirror the reality they best envision for themselves and, on occasion, for others. I have watched over humans since I was driven from my homeland. When I found you, I knew that you could do what needed to be done."

"What... what needs to be done?" Selina asked hesitantly. Konohana looked down, as though ashamed. "What you will see, will hurt." She said. "I chose this moment in your life to show you because you are at your peak of emotional stability. It is my belief that you have the highest probability of handling now." The words the goddess spoke worried Selina. While she was alright, she knew how devastating things could be. She had lived through countless tragedies, and the idea of opening herself to another frightened her. Despite this, Selina knew that she could not hide either. It was for this reason that the girl nodded solemnly.

"I am ready." Selina said defiantly. Konohana nodded and floated ever so gently over to her. Her body leaned over so that her helmet like head rested above Selina's right shoulder. The goddess then whispered softly as blue flames blew from where a mouth would be. Selina's eyes flashed with blue flames as her expression morphed into horrid fear. The young girl stared off into the distance as tears fell helplessly from her eyes. When her eyes reverted to normally she fell to her knees.

"That was..." Selina began, but could not put what she saw into words. The goddess floated in front of her as Selina kept her glazed gaze on the ground. "That... that's the future, isn't it?" She asked softly. "Although Evergreen herself lacks the power of foresight, my freedom from her influence allowed me to siphon some power from Zelel. This is the future he foresees to come into fruition." She said. Konohana's arms folded as she looked deep in thought.

"However, does that mean that it needs to pass? Time is not a river which brings everyone to the same destination. Otherwise, the mother would not have been able to sway the course of fate to this point. When I saw this future, I knew that I lacked the power to stop it. That is why I have confided in you, Selina. You are the girl who has defied fate and saved all that she could. I ask that you once more lend me your strength. I will offer mine as well, and grant you a finite glimpse into the power of the mother." She said. Selina rose to her feet as she realized that, above all else, that she could not allow that future to come to past.

"I am ready." Selina answered without hesitation. Konohana nodded as she moved back to the burning bush. Her right arm rose as the fire erupted into a pillar of blue flames. Konohana then opened her palm and pointed her extended arm toward her partner. The blue flames overwhelmed her, and initially Selina rose her arms to protect her. However, once in the flames, she felt a swirl of power settle within her. The flames died down, and Konohana disbursed into blue flames. Selina felt the warmth of her heart calm down, and she knew what her purpose was.

Selina moved to the APD with a haste. Now that she had her vision, she knew that there was something she needed to do. The look of stress on her face was palpable as she went straight to her desk and opened her file drawer with a loud crash. Her fingers danced the jitterbug along the folders until she finally found the folder she was looking for. Once she had it in her grip the girl turned around and bolted. Her entrance caused more than a few curious looks, but her sudden exit seriously caused a commotion. However, the woman could not be concerned with that at the moment.

Instead, Selina appeared at the prison used to lock up Arashigakure's most intense criminals. Her reputation allowed her clearance, but it did draw suspicious gazes from the guards, and lustful gazes from the inmates. Nearly everyone was silenced, however, when Selina stated to the head of the prison who she was here to see. "Why are you here for him? That man is a nutjob." The prison warden said from behind his desk while Selina sat in a chair across the desk.

That man was Veska Gretrud. The man stood at an impressive seven foot two and was in solitary confinement. Selina had the unfortunate luck to meet the man back when Kenshin and her worked together to corral the inmates who got free when Uzushiogakure attacked Arashi. Selina was actually the one who took down the man with a lucky shot. Since the young lady was out of practice, she almost died in the process. However, thanks to Kenshin's additional guidance, the two overcame the man and his group. Since then he had been forced into solitary confinement because of his crazed ramblings about judgment day. Selina thought the man was crazy years ago as well.

"I only need to see him for an hour. Once I have, I will be out of your way." She said with a smile. The man gave her a harsh gaze as he smirked. "Does Kenshin know you're here? I don't think he would like you going off on your own little lady." He chuckled. Selina ignored the laughter from the man, as well as the snickers from the two guards stationed at the door. "Kenshin trust me well enough. However, I don't think that he'll like that I have spotted four protocol regulation failures since stepping into this prison." She said in a tone sweet enough that sugar wouldn't melt in her mouth. The laughter from the guards suddenly ceased. "But that's neither here nor there, right? Go ahead and call him." She said earnestly. The man sighed as he made the preparations.

Selina entered the interrogation room first. She placed her folder on the desk when two guards opened the door and escorted Veska into the room. His hands were chained together with hand cuffs, and as he was placed on the table the hand cuffs were tethered to a metal chain attached to the desk. The two guards then moved to the door, and Selina looked the massive man directly in the eyes. "It's not often I get company. Especially from a pretty lady." Veska said with a huge grin. Selina smiled back to make nice with the man she needed information from.

"I appreciate the kind words Mr. Greturd." Selina said gently. "I'm not sure if you recall, but we met once before." She said. "Oh, you mean when you slapped my back with an explosive seal and then detonated it?" Veska asked sharply. "Yep! That would be the time." She said chipper with a polite nod. The grin she had made Veska laugh. "You are a piece of work to walk in here and act chummy when you're the one who locked me back up here." He said. "Well technically Kenshin locked you back up here. I was not even a cadet at the time, so I didn't really have any ability to arrest anyone." Selina commented. The man continued to grin as he leaned back into his chair.

"Honestly, it's cool. I kind of like it back here anyway. The space to myself is relaxing." Veska said. "I read about that. Your report says that you are having psychotic breaks not brought on by any genjutsu or hallucinogens?" Selina asked. The man shrugged his shoulders. "They're called psychotic breaks because the people here have no tolerance for religious visions. The majority of our civilians can shoot fireballs and fart lightning, but apparently a vision from a god is too far-fetched for them." Veska said agitated.

"Well until recently, we didn't haven't had any proof of divine existences. The most people have proven is Jashin, since his followers are able to harness..." In the middle of Selina's statement, Veska spat on the ground disgusted. "Immortality." She finished, taking note of his action. "Jashin. A vile excuse for a god." Veska growled. "Your reports said that you're religious to Utu, the God of Light?" Selina asked. Veska nodded. "I have his bloodline you know. The Hikariton." Selina did note from his records that he did in fact have that bloodline. She was grateful that she and Kenshin defeated him before he had a chance to use it. "Have you ever seen Utu?" She asked. Veska shook his head. "I haven't. I've seen a god, but not him."

"Which god did you see?" Selina asked. "Why do you want to know?" Veska counter questioned. Selina smiled gently. "Research. If Evergreen is real, then there have to be others, right?" She said. "And what do I get for talking?" Veska asked slyly. "Isn't the satisfaction of doing the right thing enough?" Selina inquired. Both of them laughed in unison. "Yeah I guess that wasn't going to do it." Selina said through her chuckling. "No s**t." He said as he continued to laugh.

"How about a game? You can give me three answers to each question. If I pick the right answer, then you continue to talk. If I pick the wrong answer, then you continue to talk, but I will guarantee five years off of your sentence for each wrong answer I get." She said calmly. This caused the guards to bicker among themselves, which caught a curious side glance from Veska. "You have that power?" He asked sincerely. "My oldest friend is Kenshin Kosei. You can trust my offer is valid." She said, never breaking eye contact. Veska smirked as he cracked his knuckles.

"Three choices. There's Poplio, the God of Wine. There's Seiryu, god of the east winds. Or there's Hamon, Prophet God of Order." Veska said. Selina listened to each name and used her power of empathy to decipher which one was the truth. Despite Hamon sounding legitimate, there was a twinge of anticipation as he said that name. Likewise, the same anticipation lingered around the name Poplio. There was only one name Selina felt he didn't want her to call. "So what did Seiryu say?" Selina asked. Veska snapped at her. "Oh! Beginner's luck." He said slightly amused.

"Don't forget, I have three answers to give." He added. "First thing, he told me that I was destined to be the envoy of Utu. The second choice is that he wanted me to avenge the people of Arashigakure. The third choice is that he knew my powers could help him achieve his own personal goals." Veska was no longer feeling anticipation, so much as he was feeling dread when he gave his third answer. "What were the personal goals of the god?" Selina asked. His smirk became a glare as Veska looked deeply into Selina.

"I'm not going to keep playing if you're going to keep cheating." He said sharply. "Mr. Gretrud I have no idea what you're talking about." Selina said innocently. "Don't con a con artist young lady. Either you play fair, or we're done here." He said. Selina considered the man and the story he was telling. If it goes the way she predicted, then she wouldn't need her powers anyhow. Therefore, she nodded, and the man leaned back once again into his chair.

"Now then. Here are the three options of what happened next." Veska said. "The first is that Seiryu wanted to wage war against the gods." He said. "The second was that Seiryu wanted revenge against humanity for tarnishing nature." He added. "The third is that he told me of a power beyond life itself. Something capable of reversing the flow of time itself." He concluded. Selina listened to each option. Despite her powers not being active, she knew the truth.

"Mr. Gretrud... Veska... now who's playing games?" Selina asked. Veska smirked. "What ever do you mean?" He asked. Selina sighed as she placed her hand on her chest. Blue flames erupted from her which scared the two guards, as well as Veska. It was then that the goddess Konohana no Sakuya emerged from the blue flames. The goddess floated in the air as it looked down at the target being stared down by Selina. "Seiryu didn't do any of those things. He gave you a vision. Now you will tell me what that vision is." Selina demanded. Veska looked at the goddess and then back at Selina. His eyes widened as the revelation hit him also.

"You've see it too." He said at a lost of words. "Only part of it. The lesser gods can only siphon pieces of the vision from Zelel." Selina said. She knew that what she saw was only part of the bloody truth. However, given the reports that Veska gave, he was given a different portion of the vision. This is why Selina rushed to the prison to see him. She needed to know what he saw.

"He only showed me it once. He then left because the bonds we had were not strong enough." He said. Veska looked down as he recalled everything which happened on that fateful day. "However, I can show you. I can give you the exact vision I was given." Selina leaned over the table. "How? How can you do that?" She demanded. Veska looked at the guards and then back at Selina. He looked up at the goddess and then back at the girl.

"Seiryu knew that others would look for the vision. People with a chance of changing it. Therefore, he hid it. Not in my memories, in case he found me." Veska said. Although he was not explicitly mentioned, Selina knew who the he was. She too had seen him in the vision. Veska suddenly leaned over the table as well. He was now inches away from Selina's face. "But in my blood." He said. Selina's eyes widened as she knew what he meant. As soon as he pushed himself back, light chakra manifested around his finger in the shape of a thin blade.

"The doctor's here can get it transferred. Don't waste this." Veska said. Before Selina or the guards could stop him, Veska slit open his wrist artery. Blood pumped rapidly away as the man suddenly collapsed into his chair. "Get a medic!" One of the guards shouted. Selina rushed over and used one of her sleeves to cover the wound. "Don't... waste it." He said with his dying breath. His hand dropped limply into Selina's grip. Selina nodded as she stopped the doctor the moment he entered the room. She then explained the situation, and with unsure hands he proceeded to give Selina a blood transfer of Veska's blood. The surgery took several hours, and Selina started to drift as it proceeded.

However, just as she was about to fall asleep, her eyes flashed with the blue flames of nature chakra. Another vision crossed her mind and gave her further insight into what the future houses. There were no tears like there were the previous time, and once the transfer was completed, the woman appeared fully composed. Despite not being the outcome she wanted, this led to exactly to what she needed. The two visions painted approximately half of the picture of what was to come. With half of the picture, Selina had enough of an idea of what needed to happen next. It was for that reason that she was able to confidently leave the prison complex. She had a lot of paperwork to file out because of this, but it would be worth it. She had the power to possibly stop him.
