A collection posts detailing the training, missions and formation taken by two Konoha shinobi: Kyōkan Hitogoroshi & Shuusui Uzumaki. These two never interacted, their paths in parallel to each other. Nevertheless, here lies the personal private journey of these two shinobi from children to young men.

Now that Kyōkan was officially a Genin of Konohagakure, he could focus his studies towards techniques and skills that he felt would be better suited for his particular style of combat. To start, swordsmanship. Not to mention… now that he was officially a ninja. The Hoshigaki clan couldn’t mutter one word of complaint if Kyōkan worked towards practicing and mastering the Hoshigaki clan techniques. As much as both the clan and he wanted to deny it, he was Hoshigaki and could only be better served by learning them. Of course, using them was not the same as giving the Hoshigaki the glory of any of his future achievements. “There was a reason I made my name Hitogoroshi damn it. They’ll never have a claim to my fame!”

The Hoshigaki were terrifying hunters, an inherent attribute of their make-up. If they could wound a foe, make them bleed? Then they could follow the scent almost unerringly. Minimal effort to actually follow and hunt down their victim. Sure, the target could still escape, but the unerring pursuit from the Hoshigaki clan member would still make it difficult. Even the wound itself lent its strength to another technique: Contempt for the Weak. Allowing the wound already inflicted to damage the target even more. A surprise second hit.

Blood in the Water & Contempt for the Weak Learned per current +1 Bloodline Modifier.

Of course, the Hoshigaki’s blood resulted in another technique, where they toughened their skin with scales. Scales that would rip the flesh of any would be aggressor and made the clan member more resilient. A testament to their heritage. Much like the guttural roar they could release. Limited in range but capable of weakening foe enough to really hamper them in a close-ranged fight. Perfect for Kyōkan, and one he’d be eager to exploit for against those unaware of his origins.

Sharkskin Redouble & Gang-Orca Learned per current +1 Bloodline Modifier.

A focus of the Hoshigaki were in their physical combat and Suiton affinity. It would be remiss of Kyōkan to ignore those shared strengths. A more common technique was an augmentation that allowed Hoshigaki clansmen to send their opponents flying in a given direction regardless of the blow struck. Another was to channel water and launch with such force that you could tear apart estates when applied with enough strength. Allowing for a deadly offense that would assist Kyōkan quite ably.

Manta Strike & Coastal Lunge Learned per current +1 Bloodline Modifier.

Every proper shinobi knew a Bunshin Technique outside of the basic one taught at the academy. Kyōkan did not to break away from this tradition. In his case, he thought the Mizu Bunshin was the better choice in terms of what it offered for his style. Not to mention his own elemental affinities. But he did not intend for his would be clones to simply be disposable. He wanted them to provide a genuine threat to his enemies. Thus Kyōkan would learn all forms of his water clones.

Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu & Mizukaisou Bunshin no Jutsu Learned per current +1 Suiton Modifier || Learn a Jutsu! Mission Complete

Clones were not the only think Kyōkan intended to master at this time. Suiton was a flexible element, allowing for a variety of tactics. Kyōkan was fairly confident in his offense, thus he wanted techniques that would allow him to be more adaptable. Or with the Suirou & Suikusari Jutsus, allow him to hamper & capture his foes. Sometimes capturing a target alive was a necessary component to a mission. Kyōkan would be remiss to ignore that possibility.

Suirou no Jutsu & Suikusari no Jutsu Learned per current +1 Suiton Modifier || Learn a Jutsu! Mission Complete

Another technique with which to hamper was the Mizu Oni Kuike. As long as there was a body of water Kyōkan could use it to create a demon’s head that would attempt to swallow the enemy. If they by some chance avoided the initial attack, Kyōkan could focus his efforts to attempt to ensure the target with an adjustment of the technique. But any offense required defense for a good balance. Thus Kyōkan focused on learning the Mizu Tate no Jutsu. Which would allow through the manipulation of water to create a shield to ward off attacks. In fact, the existing shield would also work to make other techniques more effective. A solid blend of attack and defense principles.

Mizu Oni Kuike & Mizu Tate no Jutsu Learned per current +1 Suiton Modifier.

But subterfuge could not be forsaken. Ultimately, Kyōkan was still a shinobi not merely a warrior. The Mizutamari no Jutsu would allow him to melt into a puddle of water, which in turn would let him hide as such for a variety of purposes. In truth the technique could also be useful for the purposes of evasion. Particularly in tandem with its augment technique the Mizutamari Yusou no Jutsu. This would allow Kyōkan to rapidly shift positions when fighting on a large body of water. Allowing for quick redeployment if necessary.

Mizutamari no Jutsu & Mizutamari Yusuo no Jutsu Learned per current +1 Suiton Modifier.

Kyōkan however, would not allow himself to be solely limited by his Hoshigaki heritage. His skill with Raiton had led him to explore. In turn he had discovered that he in fact was gifted with the Raiton affinity. Seeing the advantage it would give him against his… kinsmen, Kyōkan dove whole-heartedly to explore this element. Such as with the Kanden Haribari technique which would create an flurry of senbon formed from Raiton chakra.

Raiton: Kanden Haribari Learned.

Many thought Kyōkan was a muscle bound moron, incapable of subtlety. How short-sighted of them. Kyōkan had still been trained as a shinobi and learned to survive the… attentions of his cousins. He had done so by exploiting tricks and using his cunning. As such, a technique like the Nagare Tensou was perfect. It allowed him to run an electrical current through his weapon. Which in turn would travel from his weapon into his opponent’s when he blocked an attack. The resulting shock would create an opening for Kyōkan to exploit.

Nagare Tensou no Jutsu Learned.

The Jibashiri technique would allow Kyōkan to hamper his enemy with a little more subtlety. The electrical current would slow his enemies down due to the Raiton current traveling through their body. The nifty trick was to exploit a Suiton laden terrain to extend the technique’s range. If the opponent knew the technique, the extra range could very catch them off guard. The paralytic effect would be more devastating in close quarters which was perfect for Kyōkan.

Jibashiri Learned.

Of course, there was an inherent synergy between Suiton and Raiton techniques. Something Kyōkan was happy to exploit given his affinities. The Kangekiha technique was happy to oblige, letting Kyōkan to augment his Suiton jutsu with Raiton to create a paralytic effect that would spread across the opponent’s body thanks to the Suiton. If successful, it would go a long way to debilitating the enemy. Definitely the type of nasty trick Kyōkan would more than happy to employ.

Kangekiha Learned.

Shunshin was another classic technique that Kyōkan saw no reason to ignore. The ability to rapidly transpose oneself between locations was simply too useful to deride or ignore. Kyōkan quickly worked to add this technique to his arsenal. If only so that he could quickly follow if a target tried to escape from him and his Blood in the Water technique. They wouldn’t escape due to a lack of preparation of such a commonplace technique.

Shunshin Learned || Learn a Jutsu! Mission Complete

Kyōkan had known from the Academy that he would focus on Large Bladed Weapons. The heft, the feel of the blade in his hands as he swung. All it had screamed of a natural inclination. While he wouldn’t ignore other weapons, it was clear that there was a talent to exploit here. Thus he would make sure that each and every swing when using such a weapon would be at his fullest. It wasn’t enough to make every blow count of course. Simply swinging away with fist, foot or blade was not enough to truly get the most out of his skills. There was a reason that martial arts existed after all, and Kyōkan would be quite remiss if he ignored the styles that would best suit him. He had managed to find an old Uzushio scroll almost forgotten in the academy library that depicted the Old Hidden in the Mist Village and its notorious Seven Swordsman.

This lead to his discovery of Edge Punisher. A most apt style that he could learn given his affinity for Large Bladed Weapons. Each style was divided into stages. The first stage of Edge Punisher was learning how to use the prodigious strength of its wielder to achieve various effects. The first technique was about drawing out every bit of strength. The second was to properly swing as to shatter armor. The last was to use that strength to create a concussive force strong enough to stop attacks cold. All in all, the first stage a solid step in learning a style truly suited to his needs and interests.

Stage One of Edge Punisher Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

The following stage had been inverted it previous stage. The first of its two techniques was about losing that previously mentioned strength to heighten the speed of their swing. Turning strength into speed was a useful technique that could very well catch an opponent off guard if applied judiciously. The second technique built off the last of the first stage but turned it into an offensive move instead. The blast created was forceful enough to stun foes struck by it. Quite useful indeed.

Stage Two of Edge Punisher Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

In a odd sense, the third stage invited an inversion of sorts. The first technique was about a rapid movement so as to take enemies off guard against the subsequent attack. The second technique was about standing one’s ground and refusing to budge even a little. The duality of movement versus stillness was not lost on Kyōkan. The third stage seemed to point to emphasizing the use of the proper technique to address the fight/situation at hand.

Stage Three of Edge Punisher Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

Hakyoku-ken no Kata he had found that focused around Large Bladed Weapons.g The fundamentals had been in fact taught to him in his youth by a wandering shinobi who had considered joining the village. One that had stumbled upon a young Kyōkan after one of his brawls. He had taught the brash boy some of the early steps and left him with a scroll depicting later steps. With that in mind, was it any surprise that Kyōkan would also work towards mastering its techniques? Some techniques were similar to Edge Punisher, such as as on overhead strike designed to draw out every little bit of strength. In the case of Hakyoku, the technique’s drawback resulted in a loss of speed to allow for all that strength. The second technique was its partner, starting with a horizontal slash the wielder (such as Kyōkan) would end up with the blade over their shoulder. Kyōkan found that the resulting movement from the prior attack made his subsequent attacks as fast as they naturally were regardless of what technique he used. A simple combo attack from the first stage was the crux of the lesson.

Stage One of Hakyoku-ken no Kata Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

Sasu was the first technique of the second stage and was in truth a deceptive technique that had a second component if an enemy knocked the stab into the ground. If this occurred, Kyōkan would be able to quickly swing the blade upward to send the enemy flying. However if the attack is struck upwards, Kyōkan still had a reply in the form of the stage’s second technique. A strong vertical blow that struck the ground so hard as to cause it to crack and churn. Resulting in very unstable footing.

Stage Two of Hakyoku-ken no Kata Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

The first of the third stage’s techniques was a variant of Sasu. The wielder would use a swift sidestep to create the opportunity for a counter attack that would send the enemy flying. Only if it landed properly though of course. The other technique focused Kyōkan’s chakra to the point that he could then launch a chakra blade out towards any foe. Something that could very well serve to catch a foe off guard.

Stage Three of Hakyoku-ken no Kata Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

Tetsunami Ryu was where Kyōkan’s progress would get trickier. In truth, Tesunami Ryu was a styles that Kyōkan had gathered the scrolls/katas to learn from but the style itself did not use Large Bladed Weapons. Which meant that Kyōkan had been forced to adapt the lessons, to learn how to be defter, more graceful with his movements to compensate. With time, he did in fact master how to use his preferred weapon with the same grace that would typically be associated with the smaller but more common blades from which the style was formed around.

This allowed him to dive into learning Tetsunami’s Stances. The core of the entire style laid in the two stances, one to deflect, one to block. The idea was to form a basis for the manners in which one could defend themselves. With that, Kyōkan also had to learn how to make his movements fluid as possible to flow between attacks and the two states of defense. Once mastered, Kyōkan could start learning the more the offensive aspects of Tetsunami Ryu such as forcibly creating space by shoving the opponent away. Ultimately, a defensive technique even if more aggressive than a typical defense.

Stage One of Tetsunami Ryu Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

The second stage was far more offensive when compared to the first. However, in truth the first of its techniques was more of a counter attack. To block and then strike from the opposite angle. The latter two techniques were not counter attacks but proper offensive techniques. The first of the two involved a twin spin that would create shockwave of sorts that would hamper the foe. The second of the two also involved a shockwave but as the beginning of a leap. Of course… Kyōkan could also use it to generate a wave a water given his primary element.

Stage Two of Tetsunami Ryu Learned per current +2 Bukijutsu Modifier.

The third stage refocused onto the defensive aspects of Tetsunami Ryu. Though the stance taught at this stage was wonderful for gauging how many enemies there were, Kyōkan considered the stance ultimately flawed. But the emphasis on fluid movements from two of the other techniques were far better suited. The technique involved using deflection to reflect ninjutsu back at the caster. Very useful if Kyōkan wasn’t in a position to dodge. This tied into the training, where Kyōkan’s focus on his footwork resulted in an noticeable improvement towards his efficiency while on the defensive as well as when dealing with multiple opponents. He even found ways to combine his defensive techniques well enough with his new footwork that he could mix that defense so quickly into other movements that it cost him very little to do so. It was a hard movement so it did have limitations. Still the last technique allowed for him to leave his foe unbalanced which could in turn create… openings of his own to exploit.

But it wouldn’t do to allow himself to get wrapped up in his signature combat style. Too many stories about warriors focused on their weapons had taught him one thing: if a good kick or punch was more effective, there was no reason not to use it. Kyōkan refused to allow himself to become so wrapped up in his signature weapon to blind himself to other opportunities. He would use all of himself to the fullest.

To start, too many saw the large blade swordsman such as himself would carry and think all of his strength would be in the upper body. Fools! Strong legs were equally vital to any swordsman’s life. By controlling his core, Kyōkan was capable of twisting his body to deliver strong kicks, and with further strength in his legs even deliver strong side kicks by using all of his weight onto the other leg.

Stage One of Fissure Kicking Learned

This was the basis for the Fissure Kicking Taijutsu. A strong lower body would help supplement his weapon style and most likely catch people off guard. The strength of his blows would knock people back regardless of whether or not they stopped the blow itself. This would allow Kyōkan to create distance if necessary. Another technique would allow Kyōkan to deliver multiple blows by using the very momentum of his initial strike. Capitalizing on that momentum would be crucial to the proper execution of the Taijutsu’s offense.

Stage Two of Fissure Kicking Learned

The next step of the taijutsu expanded on this technique. The next level taught how he could use another kicking technique or combine it with an alternative blow; upper body, weapon blow, the possibilities were only limited by Kyōkan’s imagination. There were limitations for sure, but it would grant Kyōkan a surprising flexibility that would catch enemies off guard. A strong core and balance would allow Kyōkan to be more effective in his aggressive attacks.

The blows of Fissure Kicking were all focused on leg movements. Enough training would allow for chaining of blows. Allowing for continues strikes. Most often, people thought of kicking techniques as a single blow. A notion that Fissure Kicking did its best to subvert. With enough training, Kyōkan could chain strikes from the Taijutsu style together.

Finally, a strong enough blow could cut the wind out of an opponent. Rendering his innate resistances null to subsequent assault. Thus allowing for those following blows to drive in deeper and ultimately be more effective and bringing the enemy down. It was all about execution really.

Stage Three of Fissure Kicking Learned

Fissure Kicking’s focus on developing the strength of the lower body allowed it to be the perfect partner to a different Taijutsu: Freestyle Whirlwind. Focused around fluidity and power, the style emphasizes the development of the user’s flow and momentum. Bringing about chains of techniques with which to overwhelm enemies. Combination of tumbling, parkour, and martial arts in to a fighting style that could help greatly with managing larger number of enemies.

Pushing the body to the limits to move at faster speeds. Catching foes off guard as the sudden boost allowed a blow to sail past sluggish defenses. Defensive somersaults to evade an attack or simply create distance after an attack. Using those movements to counteract the blowback of an enemy technique or simply set up a different attack of his own. Freestyle Whirlwind was full of such katas. Even how to use obstacles to strengthen attacks were covered by the Taijutsu.

Stage One of Freestyle Whirlwind Learned

Enough practice with those somersaults taught Kyōkan how to twist his movements in midair to change directions. Not only would this allow him to surprise his enemies in mid-flight as it were but also to maintain his speed whilst spinning. The movements became so practiced as to be practically instinctive. In some training spars, Kyōkan would realize he was already halfway through a flip before registering that he had to dodge. While in the air, he could deliver a sharp axe kick that could deal devastating damage. Using the speed of the inherent in his movements to lead to devastating blows from the centrifugal force. Sometimes with bone-shattering results.

The best part, is that he learned to develop a technique for Freestyle Whirlwind that worked in tandem with his weapon. By driving it into the ground, he could use it as a support to spin around the weapon to deliver a powerful blow. This was a technique that could be used to catch someone by surprise as they would have been expecting swing from his weapon as opposed to a leg strike.

Stage Two of Freestyle Whirlwind Learned

Enough training allowed Kyōkan to achieve a sense of balance that was quite effective in resisting blows that would before send him flying. Simple, effective, relentless practice was often the only way to truly get results. Building upon the blocks of yesterday to build the path forward to tomorrow. Such as with the Handspring technique which used the Mach Flight as its basis. Again using an obstacle (such as his ground driven weapon) Kyōkan could spin around deliver a strong blow. In fact this technique focused on delivering multiple blows and hooking the foot or leg to further speed up your movements.

Just like how Kyōkan would take advantage of his weapon in this manner, Freestyle Whirlwind taught that you had to use the surrounding environment to his advantage. If a blow missed, adapt and push off an nearby obstacle to aim a subsequent attack. In fact, when properly executed, the blow itself would be stronger than the initial strike that had missed. Another example would be using an over hanging object to send the user hurtling upwards allowing them to use the momentum to further propels themselves into a powerful blow that would send the opponent flying. It was all about making unexpected movements to help the shinobi to push his enemies towards defeat. With Kyōkan it had a greater effect since he would forgo the use of his greatsword with every attack born from this style of combat, making the psychological effect more dramatic.

Stage Three of Freestyle Whirlwind Learned

The final Taijutsu that he would start learning was an old Cloud style called Kaiser Fist. It unlike the previous two focused more on the upper body to execute its techniques. Too much focus on the lower body would result in an imbalance on Kyōkan’s part should he ever be disarmed. That’s why he had to at least dedicate a little bit on upper body blows. Strong punches, with an emphasis on punching hard and if possible punching first. The first technique was about how to maximize the movements of the body to land the heaviest blows possible. More of a training than a technique to be honest. The next basic technique however focused on making a sudden fast blow. Combined, the two basic techs would deliver a powerful and fast blow, like lightning.

Stage One of Kaiser Fist Learned

There was more to upper body blows than just straight punches. Elbow blows for example, would count. One Kaiser Fist technique focused on delivering an elbow blow with such force that it would crack the ground from the sheer force applied. In fact, it had such a staggering effect that according to the scrolls the blow would go past the body’s inherent resistance. Head butts were another underestimated move. A brawler move most would declare derisively. Kyōkan was sure if that it would catch most fighters completely off guard. With the strength of blow could even result in a staggering blow that could even be stunning, since most weren’t trained in dealing with or being hit by a head butt.

Stage Two of Kaiser Fist Learned

Many would argue that the core of Kaiser Fist was the Kaiser armor technique. Where the practitioner floods chakra through every inch of their body. It could be monstrously effective, preventing damage equal to its strength and granting the practitioner a inherent defense against hampering effects. The technique with more chakra could be enhanced, granting it stronger capabilities.

The blows of Kaiser Fist where focused on delivering as much punishment as possible, either through pure strength or blinding speed. Focusing on the offense to drive the opponent’s defense into the dirt. Blows from the elbow that would stun the foe hampering their ability to dodge subsequent attacks. Many variations of upper body blows allowed Kaiser Fist to combo offensively to strip the enemy bare. But even Kaiser had a few lower body moves. Such as the Guillotine drop where the practitioner would bring their leg down in a mighty axe kick. Most of the chakra would be focused in the heel helping it cut through defensive techniques.

And it even had defensive techniques! Kyōkan could gather chakra into his hand to quite literally slap away ninjutsu techniques. It was risky, Kyōkan had to precise with the amount of chakra used or it wouldn’t work. Regardless, Kyōkan was looking forward to using this technique to shock an opponent when his answer to a sudden attack was a swift backhand.

Stage Three of Kaiser Fist Learned

His training complete for now, Kyōkan would start working towards applying his newfound skills in missions for his village.

What Shuusui had witnessed in the fall of Uzushiogakure had in a very real way marked him. Despite recently graduating from the Academy and becoming a full-fledged Genin, he knew that he could not rest easy. The newly christened Konohagakure would need every resource available to survive. Which meant he would have to live up to his clan’s expectations and more. Though, that didn’t mean he had to do it in the manner they’d like.

The most fundamental way was by approaching his training with a critical eye. Looking to enhance his own style as opposed to simply recreating the traditional combat philosophies that had pervaded his clan for generations. The Uzumaki had favored leaning heavily on their seals for attack and defense eschewing the possibilities of so many other disciplines to focus almost exclusively on Fuuin. In many ways… the Uzumaki possessed a similar blindness to the Hyuuga. Believing that one singular style or approach was paramount. “How could that be?” he mused aloud,
”If the two clans had risen to prominence as they had, whilst pursuing two different methodologies? Ah but common sense was so rarely common.”

To start he would focus on his Taijutsu and Bukijutsu skills. He had gathered a collection of scrolls from a variety of sources: the clan storage, the academy and village libraries, even managing to snag a couple from the ancient library that only the clan head and elders could enter. These scrolls covered the fundamentals of a multidud of styles but Shuusui had discerned that he would find more value from some over others. With that in mind he had furthered his search into finding the higher level techniques of only a few.

The first style he had uncovered was the Flowing Arts Taijutsu. The basis of the style was to flow seamlessly between offense and defense. To adapt to the currents of battle fluidly and with grace. Shuusui had found the economy of movement beautiful in its elegance and had thus decided it would be a solid foundation for his combat.

“It starts with basics. He muttered to himself as he slid into a stance. His right side facing forward. Though his right leg was extended, the weight of his body was on his back foot. The right arm was lower to protect the torso while the left was elevated to protect the face. The positioning of the stance would allow Shuusui to react to incoming blows with more agility. Thus allowing him to use his speed to avoid incoming attacks.

From here he could engage in slight dodges by shifting his body’s weight. Perhaps even by engaging in a quick step to move just enough to allow him to better avoid the opponent’s strike. By keeping it close, as in, only dodging the minimal distance necessary, Shuusui could lure the enemy in and counter attack with greater efficacy. In fact, if he tied his counterblow with his dodging movement it might even make his counterstroke harder to avoid.

But Shuusui could not focus solely on defense. A form of offense was also needed. A fluid punch, akin to swift jab or swinging hook that could be drawn back quickly would grant Shuusui a weapon. Combined with the movements of the evasive katas, the blow would be hard to discern and avoid to the unwary enemy. A foe lacking in agility might even be struck without even being able to react.

Stage One of Flowing Arts Learned

Truly this fighting style could be called the Flowing Arts! It emphasized practicing your movements to conserve your power even through your most agile movements. That way, once you sidestepped an attack only to counterstrike, you would use the momentum of your evasion to strengthen your subsequent blow. Elegant and seemingly simple, but surprisingly complicated. It required a careful application of movement to properly distribute the momentum.

However elegant the flowing combat of the style, sometimes sheer rapid movement was required. One of the techniques taught how to channel the chakra into the lower body to allow for a sudden movement that would release the chakra through the soles of the practitioner’s feet. This would allow for covering decent distances in a matter of moments. While practicing it, Shuusui noticed that his movements felt even faster than what the chakra should have accounted for.

Stage Two of Flowing Arts Learned

A higher stage of the Flowing Arts covered how to send a burst of chakra through a fist. If blocked it would result in sending the opponent flying backwards, creating space. If it landed unimpeded, it could stun the opponent. Creating an opening for the practitioner to exploit. The speed of the blow belied its strength but it made evading the blow all the trickier. This was the first application of using a burst of chakra for offense though the scroll indicated that later levels would delve more deeply into this discipline.

With that said, the Flowing Arts rarely deviated from the potency of a flexible defense. Focusing on using one’s agility to quicken their steps for the counterstroke. Shuusui noted that this was part of what made the style “flow” as it were. All in all it allowed for devastatingly quick counter attacks that capitalized on catching the opponent off-balance from missing their own attack.

Stage Three of Flowing Arts Learned

The fundamentals of defense can even appear in an attack. Shuusui had grasped this thoroughly while learning the style. With careful application of an attack, Shuusui had learned how to disrupt enemy attacks in turn. This allowed him to continue attacking, turning offense into the best defense. Grasping the initiative and forcing his opponent to react in turn. Shuusui had caught one of his uncles completely by surprise when he first used this mentality in a spar.

The power behind the Flowing Arts could also erode and destroy enemy defenses. Being so in tune with what makes a good defense lead the style the ability to know how to disrupt the defenses of others. Shuusui was quite enraptured by this, simply infusing his arm in chakra, guiding it to spiral down his arm and to his hand would create a ripple of chakra that was best used in tandem with another offensive technique. As the other technique landed, the spiraling chakra would burst outward, ripping apart chakra based techniques. Quite potent with the benefit of being inherently deceitful, allowing Shuusui the ability to subvert his opponent’s expectations.

This application, of using chakra to infuse the muscles could also be used to increase the potency of a strike rather than for eroding defenses. By maximizing the concussive force of the blow and focusing it to the impact zone, Shuusui could break bone. Or at least, that’s what the technique implied and what Shuusui’s own practices hinted at. The remains of many a training dummy wept sorrowfully as he had kept practicing. In truth, the application was not limited to the arms, the chakra could be gathered at any extremity. Allowing for versatility in delivering this enhanced strike.

Stage Four of Flowing Arts Learned

Having finished with learning what he could of The Flowing Arts, Shuusui moved on to one of the weapon combat styles he had found. Kunai and projectile weapons were quintessential weapons of the shinobi arts. Too many dismissed these weapons as trivial, but a well placed kunai would still kill. Shuusui delighted in turning the simple into deadly. Thus, when he had discovered the “rudimentary” and “superfluous” scroll in the academy library, dusty from neglect, he had happily taken it for his own. Every technique gave a new wrinkle in how to

Shuusui took a break from the focus the physical arts to move to a more esoteric form of combat: Genjutsu. It wasn’t the typical focus of his clan, Fuuin and Ninjutsu being their primary avenues of study. Still, he had displayed an aptitude for it beyond merely recognizing its use and Shuusui was loathe to allow a drop of potential talent to waste due to archaic notions of what was “appropriate” for the Uzumaki heir to learn. To supplement some of the tricks he was developing he delved into various genjutsu clone techniques but also began his journey into more nuanced genjutsu. At this time however, he was picking up what he was sure would become a cornerstone of his style.

To cement it, he would combine the physical with the spiritual with the Kyouzou or Mirror Image Art. Theoretically created by a Uchiha long ago, it dove into seamlessly melding Taijutsu and Genjutsu into a singular whole distinct style. It revolved around creating chakra based images that follow or come before physical actions that would mislead the opponent on the practitioner’s real position. In its more advanced stages, these chakra images of the user were supposedly made tangible, dealing damage and multiplying the lethal potential of the user's actions. This would allow Shuusui’s physical arts to be that much more effective. With that said, because of their pure chakra composition, the after-image-clones would not be destroyed if struck; rather, they fade after the allotted action has been performed, successful or not. There were two types of after-images: solid and intangible. Only the solid ones would interact with anything, and the intangible ones would instead, phase through anything in their way.

The first technique was to simply leave an illusory double to take a strike as the practitioner actually dodged it. Simple, but could help cement an opening if timed just right. Particularly when combined with some of the unique skills he was developing. Shuusui was quite sure that his variant would be devastating to the unwary opponent. Still the second technique turned those after-images for the sake of offense. While striking at a foe, Shuusui could conjure after-images of the attacking limbs that would make it harder for the opponent to evade, stuck as they would be attempting to figure out which limb was the real threat. Though in its normal state it would be hard to strike someone with the right doujutsu, Shuusui was certain that he would find a workaround.

Of course the first stage was about creating an after-image and leaving it behind, the next step was to create a moving duplicate. In the case of Radial Split, one that was moving in a different direction. Or with Fake Strike, which would throw an illusionary punch slightly faster than the normal strike, throwing off the opponent’s defenses and they move to block the fake blow. A true blend of Genjutsu and Taijutsu in truth.

Shuusui might be developing along his own path as opposed to what his Uzumaki Elders would prefer but he could not shy completely from tradition. With that in mind, Shuusui had found a very, very traditional art. One that predated the very concept of shinobi nations. The tradition born from ninja of old. Reliant on their stealth, skill, and sword, these ninja knew not the workings of their chakra networks, but they knew very well how to complete their missions. More than just assassins, the ninja of old committed acts of espionage, sabotage, and infiltration. They developed methods to break through or sneak past obstacles/opponents in order to achieve their main goal. Nothing could stand in the way of a true ninja.

Shuusui was determined to make this art, the Juurai Toorima, his own.

The first technique allowed for the replication of Shunshin speed without actually employing the Shunshin technique. A simple but rapid movement that would allow the practitioner to dodge. It had its limits considering it was a purely physical technique, but that in itself also lent it strength. The basis of movement to allow the practitioner to move rapidly like the ninja of old.

Another simple but vital practice was the ability to throw or flick objects with extreme speed and accuracy. It would not do to miss the placement of the smoke bomb that was the root of every technique of this old combat style. With enough practice and with a little chakra, Shuusui learned how to make the smoke bombs explode in mid-flight. An interesting variation but the goal was ultimately to start spreading the cloak of smoke that Shuusui needed for this art.

Stage One of Juurai Toorima Learned

The application of the smoke bomb could also be done in place. Simply drawing out a smoke pellet and throwing it to the ground at their feet. The smoke itself would provide a cover that would allow Shuusui to move swiftly and cloak his movements making him harder to be struck in turn. In fact, Shuusui had practiced enough that he even maneuvered with more ease within the smoke than without.

The steps to using the smoke also included on how to fade away within a smoke cloud. In the very archaic sense of using a smoke bomb to escape. Juraai Toorima actually covered that technique in depth. Once the smoke covers the practitioner, they can use the smoke akin to the Substitution Technique to quickly escape.

Stage Two of Juurai Toorima Learned

Shuusui at first struggled to navigate the smoke. He found it as difficult to see as his opponents. With time, he learned to how to move with the flow of the smoke. How to pierce through the fog of his own techniques to be unhindered. With time he learned to be one with the smoke. The various mists now hampered him not at all.

Trickery was a hallmark of the style. From the scrolls Shuusui learned of a practice of attaching a thin wire to an object before throwing it. This was done as a preparatory action. If the enemy dodged, Shuusui could change the trajectory of the projectile, allowing him to catch his opponent off guard.

Another esoteric technique of this ancient style involved a kite. First it required using a special fabric that would grow with an infusion of chakra, from a small piece to something about as large as the practitioner. By grabbing each of the corners and stretching the cloth, the cloth could be used to glide over terrain. The scroll detailing the technique also mentioned that if the practitioner was capable of Fuuton techniques, then they could even fly freely for a bit.

Stage Three of Juurai Toorima Learned

One of the more interesting techniques was how to completely hide within the smoke. First as most Juraai Toorima techniques it required a smokescreen. Then you focused your chakra and made it lie dormant. To others the practitioner would fade away, both his chakra signature and his entire being would just vanish. Allowing the practitioner to remain undetectable by sensory techniques and sight. The scroll detailed that this would even allow the practitioner to counteract the penetrating gaze of Doujutsu.

Though not every technique covered the use of smoke. Some touched upon other tools of the ancient shinobi. Such as wires. Using a net of razor sharp wires, the practitioner could with a little chakra cause them to wrap around and tie up a target so long as they were within reach. A interesting and useful way to tie someone up. Under the cover of smoke, it could even be devastatingly effective.

Stage Four of Juurai Toorima Learned

Shuusui’s first few encounters with the horrifying first steps of the Harmonic Arts had very nearly killed, he winced at the recollection of how close he had hovered near death, and how furious Plague had been upon finding him. He had been successful due to her assistance after his… horrible miscalculation. Luckily he had finally graduated past ingesting poisonous plants, soaking his limbs in giant vats of venom, and drinking vials of terrifying combinations in the attempt to harmonize his body with those substances. The result was that now, the slightest open wound on an enemy would allow Shuusui to introduce deadly venoms. Every strike would be poisonous, his body was a weapon in truth.

The techniques in the style revolved around breaking through to draw blood. Thus allowing the poisons of the art to be introduced. From two finger strikes to palm strikes, to regular jabs. Every movement made for precise strikes to break past defenses. To create a opening, a bleeding point through which Shuusui could poison his foes.

Now satisfied with his physical arts, Shuusui began to delve into the various Ninjutsu he would be training today. To start with Suiton. To begin he would start with what he considered to be a pillar of his style: the Kirigakure no Jutsu, which would cover the surrounding area in a fog which would allow Shuusui to have an alternative source for his Juurai Toorima techniques. The next basic pillar would be the Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu and its improvement, the Mizukaisou Bunshin no Jutsu. A clone technique based in the water element that would allow the clones to fight alongside the user. While nothing compared to the Kage Bunshin, perhaps these could be useful alternative depending on the circumstances.

From here it was moving on to the dual techniques: Mizutamari no Jutsu and Mizutamari Yusuo no Jutsu. they would allow the practitioner to melt into a puddle of water on the ground. This allows the user to hide and set up an ambush, or lose inexperienced trackers. As well as materializing himself back anywhere he/she wants within the area of a water source such as a lake or river. That way the user can surprise the enemy from behind or even from below. Which would allow Shuusui to employ the Suirou no Jutsu which would cause the water to form around the target into a spherical prison which only allows for limited movement. This was a fantastic technique for non-lethally disabling opponents. Though the imprisoned target could in fact drown in the sphere. Very useful regardless.

Water could also be used to attack, such as with the Suigadan, a spinning drill that shoots straight up from a nearby body of water. Or the Mizu Funkei, which was a small jet of water powerful enough to cut off a limb. Its strength gradually grew weaker the farther from the origin point. Doriru Suiyari no Jutsu was a variant of Suigadan which was several large sharp drill shaped spears made of water come forth out from the water around the enemy and attack. Alternatively, this can be used as a powerful defense, causing the water drills to intercept attacks and either nullify them, in the case of ninjutsu or deflect them high in the case of projectiles.

Suigadan, Mizu Funkei, & Doriru Suiyari no Jutsu Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Suiton had a variety of defensive technique as well so long as there was a source of water nearby, such as the Mizu Tate was a barrier of water is formed around the user as a cylindrical barrier that reaches just above the user's head. It could also be used as a starting point for most Suiton techniques. Or the Suijinheki which would allow the user to blow out a jet of water from their mouth to act as a forty-foot water barrier from incoming
attacks. Much like the Hashira Kakomu which would create four water pillars which then circle around the user as a protective barrier. A variety of effective defensive techniques.

Mizu Tate, Suijinheki, & Hashira Kakomu Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Finally the Sensatsu Suishou was a technique that Shuusui found more flamboyant than effective but he still enjoyed it. With a single hand sign, Shuusui would gather water from existing bodies of water or molecules in the air in preparation. The water will then rise into the air, where it will take the form of long senbon needles. The senbon can be held stationary in the air for as long as the user sees fit until they are quickly launched. But in Doton, some techniques were quite useful, such as Dochuu Eigyo, meant to be used with the Tsuchi Gunjikoudou no Jutsu. Which would allow the practitioner to freely move beneath the earth and breathe without restriction. Or the Iwagakure: Shunshin no Jutsu which was a variant of the Shunshin but for moving through the earth instantaneously.

The Rikujou Douyou no Jutsu was like many of Shuusui’s techniques about disrupting the opponent’s balance causing them to be distracted by tremors. But Doton typical was more… obvious in its execution, such as with Doryuusou, where three spikes composed of earth rise up to impale targets. These fierce spikes were quite hazardous to block properly. Or even Retsudo Tenshou which devastating the surrounding area churning, breaking and crumbling the landscape making it more difficult for enemies to focus.

Rikujou Douyou no Jutsu , Doryuusou & Retsudo Tensho Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Some Doton could be more insidious and subtle, like Chikyuu no Myakuhaku. Placing their hand on the ground the practitioner could send a strain pulse that would prevent the molding of chakra. Or the Sekkai Bunshin no Jutsu that would cause any who came in contact to stiffen with petrification. Or how how about the Ganchuurou no Jutsu which would be stronger against those trapped inside? All techniques that were not so simple as most Doton.

Chikyuu no Myakuhaku, Sekkai Bunshin no Jutsu, & Ganchuurou no Jutsu Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Nothing compared to Doton when it came to defensive techniques. Such as with Iwa no Yoroi which coated the body with earthen minerals and compounds upon the body with such force that they harden into a nearly invisible layer of hardened stone. The technique results in a potent defense that would even strengthen the user’s offensive. Every blow would simply strike harder. Or the Doroku Gaeshi where Shuusui could literally manipulate the earth form a mighty shield in front of him.

Iwa no Yoroi & Doroku Gaeshi Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Now caught up with his elemental training, Shuusui delved into more classical techniques that had yet to be added to his arsenal. Such as the Shunshin, which accelerates the user’s movements rapidly. The user vanishes in the blink of an eye, often leaving behind leaves, sand or some other debris behind them that is kicked up from their action. This allows the user to travel instantly up to fifty feet within combat but cannot be used in conjunction with an attack during this action. Or the Kage Bunshin: a solid clone which is able to interact with the environment and perform any technique the user knows. The strength of each clone is dependent on the amount of chakra put into each clone.

Shunshin no Jutsu and Kage Bunshin no Jutsu Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Two of the techniques were more subtle and ideal for the more delicate infiltration missions that shinobi were oft required to undertake. One was an advanced variation of the transformation technique that mimics the target form’s chakra signature as well as other sensory effects that may differentiate them from the original, making it impossible for sensor's to distinguish the user from the original. Very useful when infiltrating villages. The other was an eye technique that allowed for the reading of the target’s mind through eye contact. The victim would be none the wiser as the user would freely delve into their mind and acquire whatever information they needed.

Narikawari no Jutsu and Dokushinjutsu Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

The first techniques Shuusui would learn from the primer of Fuuinjutsu he had acquired were simple unsealing techniques. One was defensive, designed to unseal an iron dome with a ten foot diameter. The strength of the iron dome was dependent on how much chakra was placed in it. The other was unsealing a fixed amount of stored shuriken and send them flying at a target. With the quantity of the shrunken held dependent on the quality of the scroll and seal. In truth the seal itself was almost the same for both techniques with minor changes to the strokes that denoted size and quantity.

Another pair of related seals where the Maki Kemuri no Jutsu and the Shizen no Kuchiyose. Well… not really. One seal was used to lock away the elements, whether that be a natural or unnatural source. It could in fact, lock away techniques so long as the scroll itself was of sufficient quality. The other was a seal that sacrificed the scroll and its seal to create a dense widespread smokescreen. Due to Shuusui’s studying of the Juurai Toorima, the capability of creating such a smokescreen greatly appealed to him. The particulars of this smokescreen due to its source, was particularly vicious.

Maki Kemuri no Jutsu and Shizen no Kuchiyose Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

From sealing Shuusui moved on to the Kuchiyose: Bodi Chouin no Jutsu, which would allow him to seal a living body into a scroll, albeit only if the target was already unconscious. The seal would leave the body in a state of suspended animation. There were a lot of practical applications to this technique, which made it a must in Shuusui’s mind. But dabbling with manipulating the body also lead to the Chakra Kuuin no Fuuin. The technique would drain the target of chakra and allow Shuusui to use it to supplement the upkeep of other techniques, specifically other Fuuin.

Kuchiyose: Bodi Chouin no Jutsu and Chakra Kuuin no Fuuin Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

Shuusui had found one interesting techniques that was used upon a practitioner’s clothing. The seal would effectively turn clothing of their choice into a B-ranked scroll, which may be used for sealing and scroll related techniques. The time it took to create the seal made it impractical to create in the midst of battle, but still useful to prepare. However, the delicate nature of the seal limited to only one such seal to be active/ready to sue at any moment.

Kakuchō Learned

The last two seals he had found for now were far more insidious. One of them would prevent its target from focusing their chakra to use techniques. Though a concentrated burst of chakra would suffice in disrupting the seal, a rather delicate one for its potency. The other was like Kakuchō and required preparation outside of combat. It would allow for Shuusui to keep a majority of seals unable to be activated in a wide radius. Thankfully, seals that were stronger than it would still be usable. In truth, Shuusui wasn’t sure that learning this particular technique was wise as he was far more likely to use a variety of Fuuin than his opponents. Still, just in case.

Danzo’s Sealing Jutsu and Seals Sealing Learned due to the +1 Modifier to Ninjutsu

There was one series of techniques that was more colorful that supremely effective. Shuusui had pursued it mostly because it amused him to turn his hair into a weapon. He would start to let it grow out a little so as to better use the techniques. But it all started by channeling chakra into the scalp, causing it stretch and grow. It would have a prehensile strength that would allow it to restrict an opponent's limb or even full body if enough chakra/hair was supplied. Though alternatively he could also stiff and harden his hair to create needles, then either launch then or use them defensively as armor. All in all, Shuusui thought it would work quite well as an avenue of unexpected weaponry.

Finally, it was time to pay homage to his roots, the heritage upon which is formation would assist in honing. He took out the scroll of clan techniques; though he could only learn some of the beginning steps of the Uzumaki techniques held within, he would ensure that he did so thoroughly. In the end, as rebellious as he may be, he knew that to go completely against the Uzumaki clan would ultimately benefit no one and very likely, devastate him personally. He couldn’t in good conscious do so. Not to himself… and not to Plague.

The first seal was… well it was a demon seal. The scroll clearly depicted how the Uzumaki clan had been excellent hosts for such beings due to their incredible life energy. Not to mention their strong wills that allowed them to resist the overwhelming will and power of a demon. Thus they had developed a highly adaptive seal that may be applied on top of other demon seals as a second layer of protection. Shuusui studied the patterns, seeing that the Uzumaki seal would work by imparting commands onto the prior seal, both strengthening it and creating particular circumstances in which this particular seal may converge upon the demon and further restrain it. Very effective and useful. What was better, is that it could be applied to seal after the fact. It was not restricted to being applied in the initial creation of the jinchuuriki in question. Allowing the poor soul a dramatically reduced risk of training a demon, or being compelled by one to surrender.

The other techniques focused on the use of spiritual/chakra creations. In one case: chains that could be easily manipulated by an Uzumaki as a weapon. Yet these chains were still a fuuinjutsu technique, capable of sealing techniques, though techniques of similar strength would also destroy the chains. In fact he could learn to set them into the ground within their own seal as a trap. The chains could in fact even drain entailed targets of their energy. Thus giving rise to a possible source for the bloodlines robust life energy. More curious was a technique that allowed for spiritual arms that while not capable of physical combat, still allowed for the placement of seals through touch or the use of said extremities for casting jutsu. Very versatile in Shuusui’s opinion if underused going by clan records.

Shuusui knew that that he had a long road ahead of him. His studies of various Fuuin & Poisons had pointed to a need to master three very different arts: Scroll-Crafting (crucial for Fuuin), Toxicology (so that he could truly master the Harmonic Arts), and Enchantment (which would simply better fuel his Fuuin). To master them however, he would need to learn the various ingredients that made up the special inks and materials that made up each of these different crafts. He would have to master fauna and flora, he would have to learn Botany to its fullest first however.

Before he could venture off into the woods to learn and study, it was important to prepare adequate supplies. Proper tools to collect various herbs without killing the plant itself (unless the whole herb was itself needed). After all, roots could be crucial towards certain blends. Shuusui always made sure to consult various scrolls and local masters to learn how to best care for his tools in preparation for a sojourn into the woods around the Uzumaki Manor, and the overlying area of Konoha. He would be ready for any foray.

His journeys through the woods themselves was in many ways, quaint. Peaceful and relaxing in a way that political lessons with the elders, meeting with village leaders and discussions/negotiations with the Hokage simply did not compare. Not to mention that it was much slower paced than combat or training. There felt a contemplative relaxation that was simply missing from much of Shuusui’s life. To be perfectly frank, he could get used to this. It was true that his initial pursuit into these fields was to improve himself, but perhaps… he could find enjoyment in the process as well. Wouldn’t that be a pleasant surprise. In truth, a large part of him was actually drawn in by the act of creation and the gathering of ingredients.

Shuusui had become a known quantity in various Poison shops. He would come in and trade work for time and access. The shopkeepers appreciated his discretion, his patience and his skill. Toxicology was delicate work, and Shuusui proved himself capable of preparing various poisons with care, speed, and most importantly: without the need of supervision. This allowed the shopkeepers to focus on other tasks while leaving work for Shuusui to complete. They insisted on paying Shuusui a little for his time, so valuable they deemed his help. That, and it allowed Shuusui to better disguise why he was going into town and helping so many different shops. The shopkeepers knew: to learn recipes and expand upon his skills. But it would sere everyone if the elders of the Uzumaki clan were more unaware of how deeply Shuusui was studying. Other times he would work the front of the shop, to better provide to his cover story and to get to meet people. He established various connections with suppliers and vendors who looked favorably on Shuusui being more than willing to talk to the more “common” folk. The Uzumaki Clan however, were ecstatic to learn of Shuusui’s interests in the deeper lore behind scroll-crafting. Even the elders were unopposed to this desire of Shuusui for a greater understanding. The Uzumaki were more so focused on the seals that would go into a scroll but they could not, would not disparage the creation of the scrolls that held them. It was a known fact that the better quality of the scroll, the better the Fuuin that it could support/contain. Of course the lower branches of the Uzumaki had dedicated scroll-crafters, the elders and the crafters more than happy to have Shuusui come in and help. Learn from them the intricacies of layering the various pressed layers of bamboo to create paper. How to weave it together to make the scroll itself. Making sure the page was absorbent enough to prevent the ink to seep through and stain the layers below.

He established various connections with suppliers and vendors who looked favorably on Shuusui being more than willing to talk to the more “common” folk. Better for them to think he was doing to build relations with the various districts and to earn some pocket money.

Shuusui would usually work in the back, measuring and stirring, cutting and steeping the various ingredients. Testing out different properties, how drying in sunlight affected certain elements of a particular toxin. Quietly and methodologically working away at various substances. Other times he would work the front of the shop, to better provide to his cover story and to get to meet people. He established various connections with suppliers and vendors who looked favorably on Shuusui being more than willing to talk to the more “common” folk. In a small but measurable way, Shuusui was improving the reputation of Clan Uzumaki and his own. And yet, Shuusui would require them. He hadn’t even told Plague the extent of his plans for himself and what avenues he was pursuing. After all, the best secrets where kept to oneself and no others.

Thus he had made sure to use intermediaries for those rarest of ingredients he hadn’t been able to find substitutes for. Merchants who only cared about being paid and weren’t too curious. But it would sere everyone if the elders of the Uzumaki clan were more unaware of how deeply Shuusui was studying. One of Shuusui’s first projects lay in creating an enchantment that was at its core a supplementary enhancement. By itself it was useless, inert really. Functionally though, it would shine when his latter projects finished. It would simply empower the effect of particular Enchantments and Fuuin, bolstering them to be more powerful. However, the effects it would enhance would by themmselves also be of a passive nature. Shuusui believed correctly that this particular Enchantment matrix could not sustain a more active enhancement not without horrifying backlash that Plague would kill him for. Further tests were required to properly determine this, but at this time, Shuusui was reliant on this pattern and its effectiveness would be drastically reduced in a more active enhancement pattern. In all likelihood, this was a singular design and he would have to start from scratch for latter Enhancement projects.

Scroll crafting may not seem as rare and exotic as Enchantment, as mysterious as toxicology or as powerful as the smithing arts, but it had its place. Scrolls were fundamental to transfer knowledge. They imparted the basics, and kept the mastery of the arts hidden. Why else were there “Forbidden Scrolls” in the world? Scrolls were the way to pass along understanding and teach history. To share information and keep others appraised. Mastery required that one grasp its fundamentals. Thus why Shuusui was creating scrolls to expand his knowledge of several branches of the arts.

To start, the fundamentals of the arts lied in Ninjutsu. To use chakra to create a physical change in the environment. Typically it was associated with the elements, hence blasts of fire or high stone walls. Of course, abilities such as walking up a tree or on water were also examples of ninjutsu. Practical effects that were rooted in having the ninja defy the normal rules of the world.

The second array was also supposed to improve Shuusui’s Fuuin capabilities. More specifically, simply make his own chakra more efficient in the creation of the various arrays. Thus allowing Shuusui to bear the burden of multiple seals more effectively. This would in turn allow Shuusui to be better equipped to address changes in the flow of battle. Not a complex seal all in all, if honesty was given presence. But it had come about from the dregs/failed avenues of his previous enchantment work.

The third array had occurred to him as he delved deeper and deeper into the lore of poisons and the Harmonic Death Arts. A Grandmaster of Toxicology boasted a resistance to poisons to some degree. Shuusui was looking to use this array to enhance that resistance to higher levels. With luck, he would be able to resist a wide variety of poisons if not all. Rarer or more potent combinations would still be just as effective as if this enchantment didn’t exist. Still, a stronger protection would suit him well. Particularly when dealing with poisons, most only learned enough to try to kill someone, not create their own.

Genjutsu was focused on ensnaring opponents in illusions. Typically not tangible illusions that anyone could see, though they do exist and can be used. The basic clone technique crosses the line between the two in all honesty. Still, the art of Genjutsu was about trapping an opponent mentally in a fake world that either they could not discern as being fake or simply incapable of leaving at all.

The fourth of these simpler arrays would also be built on the fundamentals of poisons, but this one would focus on Shuusui’s lethality with them. More specifically, practitioners of the Harmonic Death Arts learned techniques to apply poison through physical blows. The poison application rooted into the fundamentals movements of the style. Shuusui was hoping to use this array to open up this strength into the other styles, using the array to strengthen the connection between his physical blows and the poisonous blood that now flowed in his veins. The array would allow the other techniques to apply it by subtly enhancing his blows and the poison within.

Already he heard whispers that the Uzumaki heir had a common touch and to think of doing more business with the Uzumaki, especially once its heir became its head.

This array was more complex, and… one with a delicate nature. Shuusui had managed to get his hands on a scroll of Uzumaki family techniques. One that detailed the older, more forgotten aspects of the clan: Juunin. A deviation of Fuuinjutsu, Juunin were designed to artificially allow its bearers to access and use Nature Energy. The seals strengthen the body to the point that its wielders are considered on par with shinobi of sage mode capabilities. The seals passively draw in nature energy from the surrounding environment to fuel itself. This artificial style of bringing about these changes are reviled by the various summoning species and considered corrupted and impure.

Any bearer of a Forbidden Seal is considered to be an abomination by the summoning species and the bearer would never be allowed to sign a contract, maintain a contract, be considered as a scroll holder, or be a prospective sage mode trainee. The summoning species consider Forbidden Seals so abominable because the majority of its first generation recipients were power-hungry madmen who quickly abused their new found power. Thus, now the summoning species view all bearers with suspicion and contempt.

The Uzumaki had learned how to create a temporary versions to boost their own abilities without suffering the backlash of possessing one. Neatly side-stepping the issue of the curse. Shuusui now aimed to subtly improve upon this last technique, to enhance its gifts in very minor ways.

Physical combat could be broken down into two general styles: Soft and Hard. Soft physical combat was about moving around an opponent, using their strength against them. Parrying a strike by deflecting the blow. Using their weight against them to send them flying. A way to nullify the opponent's strength without relying on your own. Especially useful if the enemy was in fact, stronger than you. The flip side to that was hard physical combat. Completely reliant on capitalizing on your strength to overpower the opponent. To take the punishment they threw out and meet it with an unbreakable defense. The worst insult you could make was not even budging when your enemy struck you with all their might. To laugh at that horror when their blow did nothing to you. Or the fear that would shine in their eyes when your own blow shattered through their block.

For in combat, too many disregarded the mental. Focusing as they did on the physical capabilities of the combatants. If you persisted in maintaining a mental edge, it could result in gains that were directly applicable to the fight at hand. With proper thought an application, your combat abilities would be more effective. Well placed strikes with thought behind them, taking into account a variety of factors would allow for more efficient combat. In fact, to really unsettle an opponent, it was better to observe how they fight. Not only would it lead you to be able better read what move they'd make, but with enough observation... Well, with enough observation you could mimic how they fought. Perhaps not as well, since it was a shallow imitation. But sometimes that was enough. It could really get into a man's head if he saw a reflection of himself in his opponent. Especially effective if they know that you supposedly had no background/grounding in their combat style.

This last array was one that Shuusui had not planned on creating. His meeting with Shiro, and “Uncle Pineapple” had changed his designs in unforeseen ways. Having studied a rare and lost art under this “Uncle” had allowed Shuusui to unlock a unique power. Now, to enhance it was this array. The way he had learned delved in fear so he worked to heighten its effectiveness, its debilitating nature. He also worked on making the array act as a gathering tool of sorts for the new resource he had discovered: Nature Energy, which was fundamental to his new art. Still, he hadn’t managed to have work at all times. If he himself was in meditation, it overpowered the array and rendered inert. Though it would quickly power back up once he ceased to do so. He was happy with it, but who knew if it would work as designed.

The enchantment would act as a battery of sorts, strengthening Shuusui’s connection to the fundamental forces that fueled any shinobi’s techniques. Shuusui was increasing those resources by layering this enchantment and its brethren upon his skin. Just like all of the other enchantments he had been designing. Shuusui was quite lucky to be adept with the Kage Bunshin, he wasn’t sure he would have been able to place all these enchantments properly for maximum effect without that technique… or recruiting Plague. Who likely would have been less than thrilled at the esoteric approach Shuusui was undertaking. Not to mention not having properly tested it out prior to its application seeing as there was no one Shuusui could approach to test these designs on. They required layering onto the body directly after all. Still, he had looked over the full design several times, and could see no flaws. In truth, despite being untested Shuusui was not nervous at all about this design, it was stable and rooted in concrete enchantment principles. To the point that Shuusui was positive he could apply it multiple times with no danger to himself. With a flourish, he put the final touches to the design that the Kage Bunshin would be applying.

But now, Shuusui would expand into more private musings. Sometimes, Shinobi developed new understandings that would shake up the old traditions. Sometimes these developments were limited to a single shinobi, sometimes it gave birth to a new style, or even a new clan! Shuusui’s understanding of clones could be considered such a breakthrough. Could Shuusui pass along that understanding? Perhaps, but it would require careful study of breaking down how his trick worked and helping a new generation reacquire that necessary step that allowed the breakthrough. Sometimes it took generations before another shinobi relearned or refined a previous shinobi’s accomplishments. For now, Shuusui would study and attempt to broaden that unique understanding.

This last enchantment would be Shuusui’s masterpiece. It worked on further improving Shuusui’s capabilities with Fuuin. Nothing so esoteric as say the Flying Thunder God. It worked on the basic principles, such as allowing Shuusui to better utilize each individual scroll. First he had worked on simply increasing the storage capabilities of each scroll in minor ways, but he had stumbled on a pattern that would allow him to greatly increase it! Then to double it! Finally he had managed to design a way to triple what he carried per scroll, in many ways he had managed a magnificent feat. Not that many of the Enchantment experts who had seen his design had recognized it for the feat it was. Probably something to do with the fact that enchanters he had talked to weren’t Fuuin masters. Probably a lack of understanding in truth. Same with the effect of allowing the Fūnyū to be applied quickly in battle. They had all focused tremendously on the arrays capabilities on imbuing a unique element of chakra that would make Fuuin created by someone bearing the Enchantment to be more resistant to the Fuuin Houin and San no Fuuin Houin. Which granted was impressive but not more so. At least, not in Shuusui’s humble opinion.

Shuusui stood in the dojo… ready to complete his physical training at least for now. To finish mastering the styles he had built combat around.

Now he finished that training.

A new Taijutsu that he would start learning was an old Cloud style called Kaiser Fist.

Shuusui was sure if that it would catch most fighters completely off guard. With the strength of blow could even result in a staggering blow that could even be stunning, since most weren’t trained in dealing with or being hit by a head butt.

Born from the red mist of Kirigakure the Shintō Musō-ryū style specializes in incapacitating and eliminating opponents before they realize what is happening. The style used the Kusarigama, a sickle with a long chain attached to it with another sickle or small heavy ball attached to the other end of the chain. The style is unwieldy at first the practitioner not being used to having chains flying around them. Once the practitioner masters the chains and sickles they can be considered a force with endless possibilities to their combination attacks.

The second step on the way to mastering maneuverability of the practitioners who use kusarigama. Mastering this training allows the user to freely manipulate the kusarigama mid flight without use of environment to change its direction. Movement, however, is still limited to slight angles while the weapon is in flight. Doing so requires stamina equal to half the technique being altered be paid. Though they could also channel chakra through the weapon, creating chakra chains that expand off of the original chain's base and can be used to snare targets who are within range of the original chain while the primary chain executes attacks. Requires B Rank amount of chakra to break chains. Chains last for three posts.

The whip, known for it's flexibility in combat and various other purposes has become an essential tool for some. Able to be used as a primary weapon or a supplementary weapon, the users of this style have coined its name after the serpent like dragons their attacks resemble. In fact, one handed whip techniques could be used with little difficulty if paired with one handed weapon techniques from another style or other basic combat one handed weapon attacks. This is limited to a 1:1 ratio with a separate offensive action, pairing at most two attacks together.

The trick for Shuusui was to combine these two new Bukijutsu styles with his wires. Recreating the lashing techniques with his unique weapon. It had required a bit of training and some finesse in execution. Not to mention redesigning the wire contraption five times, before Shuusui was satisfied with the result. In truth, he was certain that it would catch quite a few individuals off guard when he first unleashed these techniques.

The Phantom Slayer style is a bukijutsu style that uses a single bladed weapon, usually a katana. Initially created in the Land of Iron, the swordsman that developed the style wandered often, teaching it to worthy students who shared a single desire with him. The desire to learn from the Yokai. The style draws on the demonic like presence the Yokai carry to create a haunting style that strikes terror into their enemies. Those who have mastered the style often emulate Otakemaru and Sojobo, the strongest of the Oni and Tengu. These swordsman, while not necessarily malicious in nature often are interpreted as such due to their skills.

In many ways, Phantom Slayer was simply a Bukijutsu variant of the Kyouzou. Shuusui quickly built upon what he had learned there and applied it here. He rapidly worked his way through the stages, though the addition of the blade to the katas did throw him off at first. But others seemed almost exact, such as Spectral Movement. After countless hours of practicing skills that utilize chakra pathways, Shuusui was capable of leaving phantasms of their own body at the end of every phantom slayer technique they preform for no additional cost.

Though a lot of the style was about evoking fear. Such as with the Jigoku no Mon. The user channels chakra into their blade, giving it a demonic appearance. The user then moved in a circle around their target, leaving nine phantasms of their body facing the foe in the center with their blades poised as they take their place along side their illusory copies. These phantasms are capable of replicating any attack the user knows, effecting sight, sound and chakra sense as they move to assault the target. Any techniques used by the phantasms are incapable of dealing actual damage or of replicating technique's effects or statuses.

Shuusui had reached a point that he could finally put the finishing touches on a lot of techniques that he had studied for years now.

The art of breathing underwater using chakra to remove oxygen from water has been a long handed down secret of the Mist. The length of time and the depth that the diver can go under depends on the ability of the user. This technique activates whenever the Shinobi breathes in water and requires no hand seals. This technique is passive in that it activates automatically when the shinobi's head is submerged underwater. However, it requires an upkeep of an E-Rank amount once active to continue past the first post - can be canceled at any time, and does not require an activation.

A technique usually used with the Hidden Mist Technique, the Mist Vision technique allows the user to see through the heavy mist, steam, or any other condition caused by water in the air. The technique is passive and activates when the user's vision would otherwise be obstructed by mist. When within a fog or mist, the user must use D-Rank chakra during the first post of use followed by an E-Rank amount as upkeep, this allows the user to see through all mist or steam as long as this is active regardless of rank. Does not consume an activation to be used. Negates any blindness status caused by moisture in the air.

A powerful enhancement of the Water Reflection clone, this technique creates any number of full-powered water clones and does not require a body of water. These clones have are capable of possessing the full Chakra and Mental abilities of the user, as well as Physical ability. A solid hit will destroy the clone. Chakra pool is shared between all clones & the owner. Using a technique detracts from the available chakra to all involved, of course. Requires knowing Mizukaisou Bunshin no Jutsu [Water Reflection Clone Technique].

The user makes rain which eats up any chakra when it comes in contact with anything. Breathing out, the light, darkening mist rain will spread over an area (topic), billowing upwards to prevent a jump's worth of height. Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Complex/Spiritual Tai/Buki jutsu, & Demonic auras/cloaks/etc are affected. Exactly half of the chakra absorbed is sent to sustain the jutsu, while the other half filters into the user's own chakra pool. Absorption can temporarily extend the user's chakra pool to above normal, for a maximum of triple the total. For example, if your reserves are 1,000 then it can increase it to 3,000 maximally. Lasts until [3] total posts have elapsed from the last absorption. Automatically Absorbs chakra at a rate of [320] per post from the listed sources dispersing them in a pseudo-seal fashion. However, the users own jutsu is excluded from this.

The user forms the required hand signs, creating four spears at it's base rank that measure ten feet in length and may be launched at targets within thirty feet. For each additional rank these spears are doubled in number and require chakra equal to each individual spear to defend. Should the target be stricken by these spears undefended they are pierced, gushing blood and requiring medical attention within five posts at C Rank and reducing the length of time before going comatose by one for each additional rank.

An advanced variant of the Earth Dragon Projectile. The shinobi performs the necessary hand seals which forms an oriental styled dragon composed of mud from the ground. This dragon measures fifty feet in length. This dragon carries a significant amount of momentum and will knock back a target forty feet on impact, it's hardened body shattering bones and causing hemorrhaging, requiring medical treatment within four posts if unblocked. The dragon can perform basic combat biting techniques with an equivalent chakra cost paid by the caster. An upkeep cost of twenty chakra is used per post in upkeep if the dragon is sustained. Up to three additional doton techniques can be cast through the dragon as its "breath" for one rank less in cost while the dragon is treated as a shadow clone for it's activations. This dragon can endure S Ranked techniques without being destroyed.

Another advanced variant of the Earth Dragon Technique. The user stomps their foot, using the chakra pushed into the earth to reach deep into the earth and draw molten minerals from below to form a fifty foot dragon's neck with a ten foot head atop it. This dragon peers at it's target upon creation before diving beneath the surface again, unable to be detected by sensory techniques or dojutsu while underground. The dragon may remain dormant beneath the surface up to three posts. Upon command, the dragon emerges, barreling into it's target as it's body cools just before exploding and sending smoldering metal chunks of its body flying in a fifty foot area upon contact. Those directly impacted by the dragon have bones shattered upon impact and are knocked back forty feet.

This technique requires no activation of it's own and is cast along side any technique creating mud that the user knows. When a target stands within the area of mud the user created or is contacted by the user's mud style technique three wolves are formed of the user's original technique. These Mud Wolves pursue targets up to fifty feet away and are granted their own single independent activation. These wolves are capable of using basic combat attacks on targets. If destroyed, these wolves automatically drain the user's chakra at C rank potency to resurrect themselves up to once each. After destroyed a second time, they do not revive.

Activation of this Jutsu lets the user locate the relative location of anything in the vicinity by listening to the echoes of a sharp sound, such as blades clashing, a rock skipping, etc. The technique is activated by some form of sound caused by the user. Louder sounds travel farther. It effectively works like echolocation, giving the user a display of the path in which the sound travels for one [1] full post. The visual can be maintained at an upkeep of the original cost per post, as well as a constant sound, such as music. Only the user can see the visual path.

Marks a surface of up to 50 square meters in size for observation. When anyone aside from the user enters the domain, the user is notified. The user is aware of everything the target has while within the range, from the relative size of the Chakra pools, the target’s elemental affinities, bloodline type (if any) and affinity for certain types of Jutsu are assessed (lets the user know if the target specializes in Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, etc. In addition, any genjutsu cast upon the user while the user is within their sensory range are treated as one rank less in power. Does not have an upkeep cost, but the user must focus on the area in question to sustain the flow of information, consuming one activation per post.

The user may pay for the cost of this technique with no additional activation when using a shadow clone technique to apply it's effects to a total of three or fewer shadow clones. Each clone is capable of exploding with a concussive force that would throw the target up to thirty feet, causing deafness from the sound of the explosion and causing deep bruising on the target when successful. The user launches a projectile weapon at the target, forming a hand sign as it flies toward them. Upon the act of the hand sign, the weapon splits into one hundred copies of the projectile used that have the same properties as a shadow clone, making them just as damaging as the real weapon. When combating this technique, the opponent's agility stat points are halved.

The Rasengan is the perfect shape manipulation of chakra. The user gathers chakra within the palm of their hand, creating an orb of chakra that rotates rapidly beneath the surface of the orb which is roughly the size of a baseball at A-Rank usage. The user is able to pay a C ranked upkeep in order to maintain this technique as long as needed to make physical contact. Upon contact, the orb rotates rapidly, applying a drill-like effect to the target, allowing it to shred through techniques, treating spiritual and ninjutsu techniques as one rank lower. Alternatively, this technique is used to cause a target to go flying upon contact, spinning in the direction of the orb's current, destroying the landscape in an area twenty feet wide and fifty feet in length. Additionally, the user is able to pay an S+ Ranked amount of chakra that increases the size of the Rasengan to twenty feet in size, retaining it's upkeep cost and properties of the original Rasengan and doubling the damage radius of it's alternate use. This variant is known as the Oodama Rasengan [ Big Ball Spiral Sphere ].

The user studies a target for no less than three posts. By studying the target, the user is able to form a hand sign, using chakra to morph their physical appearance to mimic that of the target. During their observation, they learn all mannerisms of the target, as well as any defining, tells the target has, creating a perfect replica of the target. This differs from the transformation technique by altering the user's body instead of casting an illuson on themselves. The technique must be paid at the body rank of the person being copied, remains active until used again. Returning to one's original form requires no studying. The user preforms an advanced variation of the transformation technique. This transformation allows the user to mimic the target's chakra signature as well as other sensory effects that may differentiate them from the original, making it impossible for sensor's to distinguish the user from the original. Must be paid at the cost of the target's body rank and requires an E Rank upkeep per post.

The user forms the required hand signs, slamming their palm into the ground. From the earth, four dragon like heads emerge composed of white chakra, each head measuring twenty feet with a fifty foot neck. These draconian heads gain one offensive and defensive activation of their own per post. In addition, these four heads have the ability to cast the user's ninjutsu from their mouths. If the user desires, they can spend one of their own activations to utilize known projectile ninjutsu from the dragon's mouths. This technique requires an upkeep cost of A Rank chakra per post.

The user and three allies stand in a square or rectangular pattern, surrounding a target area. All four users must have access to this technique but the cost is split evenly among them. Shadow Clones may be substituted for allies. The users form hand signs in unison, creating a large barrier that expands up to forty feet between the users and in height. Additionally, a small cubical barrier is formed around the user, preventing those within from attacking the users. Those within the barrier who make physical contact with the barrier are subject to painful burning sensations from the users chakra. This technique requires an S+ rank amount of chakra or higher to break free of its hold.

Must be set up before combat and labeled on the profile. The user creates a seal which will protect one part of their body. If that part is attacked, then the seal activates, manifesting a sheet of chakra barrier to protect that location. The activation of the barrier will automatically drain the user of an A-ranked amount of chakra, but will not cost an activation. Upon protecting the area the seal will break. Can have two seals on the user's rpc at a time. To create the seal cost five chakra.

Forming a single handsign, the user has to be within an arm's reaching distance due to the compact size of the jutsu. Everything within the seal's area becomes stationary & cannot move. Incoming kunai, jutsu, etc, all get trapped on the outer edges of the jutsu until the seal ends. While inside the seal's area, one can break free from their confines by either expending an S+-ranked amount of chakra, or letting out one's full demonic chakra cloak form. The awakening of sage mode or curse marks also break the seal, as does any alternative which pumps the user with chakra outside of their initial base. Cost eighty chakra per post to maintain.

After forming the necessary hand signs the user must trace over the ground a large, but simple, Fuuin design. The seal then expands from its base drawing all along the ground of the thread. The chakra will keep the shape of the seal, but no actual mark will be left. When a target steps within this range the user can activate the trap by a single handsign. The trap begins immediately draining all chakra from those in its range, who are not the user, causing a large amount of pain while doing so. Auto-drains one [1] C-ranked amount of chakra per the target’s post. Applies tier two trauma per post. Can catch up to four [4] people. May break out of the seal through the spending of an S+ ranked amount of chakra.

Allows the user to create on contact a seal. This seal can be on anything including a weapon. The user may instantly appear anywhere the seal is. Cost five chakra to make a seal, and eighty chakra to transport oneself to any of the seal's locations. The act of making a seal for Hiraishin does not taken an activation.

The seal which binds the demon to an individual, while also protecting the new Jinchuuriki's life should their demon be taken from them. The parting of the demon allows the previous host to retain the massive boost to chakra the user had. Allows the user to increase their chakra and stamina by sixty per stage which they had their demon mastered. Allows the user to still be connected to the demon's subconscious, although does not allow the telepathy to extend to any other demon host. The seal used must be listed on the user's profile. Only one seal per rpc. This technique is considered universal to kages or rogue equivalent.

The Uzumaki will either create a seal on the ground, or perform a small string of handseals. Immediately after, a spiraling shield of 'water' - truthfully a sealing barrier - will appear before the Uzumaki, defending them from attacks and swiveling to their flank and back to protect them from any direction necessary. The dimensions of the shield can be changed, and it can be picked up and wielded. Finally, by paying the additional cost, the shield can become a different sealing technique of the user's choice for no additional activation.

An offshoot version of the original Cloud Clone Technique, this is generally used to cause a diversion, giving the user time to run away. The user creates the usual clone, but adds on another handseal at the end, causing the clone to have additional effects. Spouting off into many copies, these clones have the same capability as the previous Cloud Clones do. However, when a Clone is hit instead of going through the clone, like it normally does in the technique, the clone instead explodes into a spread of smoke-like fog that becomes denser, stronger, and harder to dispel with every clone that is hit.

Drawing upon the somewhat slender mysticism that surrounds the firefly, this technique pushes for emotional reactions to the extent in which almost any victim can be affected. Holding a seal in place and hopefully within sight of the opponent (note that this isn’t eye contact), the opponent immediately begins to see one or two fireflies enter the field as the environment begins to suddenly darken. Next, the technique subtly reaches its crux by the addition of more fireflies entering the dimmed field. They begin to surround both the user and the victim and provide nothing more than a light show at this stage. The last act of the technique forces the opponent to realize hidden fears when the fireflies suddenly converge upon the user and take the shape of whichever person or thing the opponent fears most. Swiftly, the scene around them becomes blurred as hundreds more fireflies spin around the two and seemingly lock them within a chamber of light, the target's fears immeasurably brought to life. At this point, the user can ‘travel’ between all the light around them and speaks instances which would provoke the user’s mental stability. These illusions are most obviously self-induced, but the user simply manifests them through this technique. This technique affects all of those within the area, as it is a large scale phantasmal effect.

In this technique, the user is able to tap into the mindsets of their allies and not only clear them but also protect them. Acting as a mental form of Kai, it also sets a lingering defense which aids in blocking opposing Genjutsu from affecting one out of five of the person’s senses. However, if the user is currently under the effect of an opposing Genjutsu, then they cannot use this technique. Cancels and blocks B Rank & lower genjutsus for both the user & the target for one sense only.

This Genjutsu makes the opponent feel as if their body is slowly turning into stone, from the feet up. It takes [4] posts for the victim to feel as if their entire body was turned into stone. The victim is unable to move his or her body, and even breathing slows down until it is nearly gone. Unless released, the user can lose consciousness because of lack of air. Fainting is considered a full body paralysis status effect at the third level after the target has been held in the technique for [4] posts.

A somewhat whimsical and fanciful technique, this one is most often familiarized with mind control but is very much different. Using only a pre-designated seal as the focal point, the user is able to alter their Chakra to affect memories to a very basic extent by creating new ones which replace or block out anything current. For example, an enemy might come up to the user and try to interrogate their purpose. With this technique, the user will ‘suggest’ that the victim has mistaken him as somebody else and should carry on with his duties. Another way to use this technique is by making a victim suddenly remember that they have something to do. Another example would be like making a guard recall that they have to check the keys in at the barracks and must return to do so. The limits of this technique are obvious. Actual memories cannot be recreated, only suggestions which would allude to real memories.

A rather harsh Jutsu, this one forces an opponent to not only face their fears, but to succumb to them. Trapped within the technique, the user believes themselves confronted by whatever person or thing they fear most in life, ready to do battle and oppose it. But despite any efforts they make, their fear remains immune and imposing. And for every attempt to defeat this manifestation of fear, the user only fails and is instead paid back their efforts tenfold. Stabbing their illusionary opponent in the chest with a Kunai would only result in the user being impaled, for example. Once the opponent realizes this give and take relationship they begin to slowly realize their weakness and fall prey to an extreme sense of paranoia and the terror begins to consume them. Only exploits fears of others, & not those of non-human regards (such as fear of fire).

An advanced, and terrifying Genjutsu that forces the eyes of the opponent to see everything around them begin to age. The entire world changes before their very eyes at an increasingly fast rate, in which a year can pass in one second, a decade passes in one post, and so forth. It can literally cause a person to go insane since to the victim sees the world changing at a rate that is fast and horrifying. The worst effect is that this is long lasting: it mirrors the exact aging process that the objects will take if left for nature to take its natural course. The victim will also find themselves unable to move fast enough to save anything before it ages into dust.

When cast, the user is affected by a “wind enchantment”, causing air to swirl around them in visible waves to give the impression of great strength. By thrusting out one’s hands, the user releases a blast of horrific wind that takes the shape of a skull of an animal or monster of choice. When it impacts the target, it creates slashes and cuts all across their flesh and clothing, causing intense pain. The Enchantment is cast upon the user, and as such the Kai must be utilized upon the caster instead of the target to break the genjutsu. The slashing airwaves can only be used on one target at a time, but the “wounds” will la

Upon activation the user’s extremities become enchanted, including whatever is in hand. When the enchanted object moves it creates a sort of blur, and by thrusting the limb at the individual they will see a barrage of attacks that will be unable to be avoided. It is over in an instant, leaving behind bruised muscles and flesh in a form of memory. The pain will fade over the duration, with the initial attack counting at the first “post” in the base duration, and the pain fading at the end.

The user dodges an attack and becomes invisible and silent while a phantom of a loved one takes the place of the caster and becomes mortally injured. The phantom will scream in agony about the betrayal and will mention details about the life of the target that only they would know adding ot the believability of the genjutsu. This will cause the target psychological and emotional distress and even drive them to madness. This also opens up the target to a stealth attack by the caster that is successful will immediately dispell the technique. After one post the phantom will disappear. If this technique is used with a dodging technique then it counts as a free activation but the chakra cost must be paid.

The illusionist begins to hum as if in meditation. This sound carries out across the field of a battle and affects everyone in its vicinity; including allies. Once activated, the Jutsu inhibits certain extents of rational thought by portraying the target as overly skillful. This, in turn, causes them to become overly brash and confident. And though this doesn’t necessarily improve combat effectiveness, it does block out certain skills from a victim's memory. In short, it makes them ‘forget’ to use certain techniques and only allows to them use more simple ones. In allies, this works exactly the same. Blocks B-ranked and higher defensive Jutsu from being thought about.

Genjutsu that requires the user to lock eyes with the target, in which the effects will not be immediate. However when the opponent attempts take some sort of offensive action against the opponent, they will get a strong impression that their attack will be anticipated and expected by the enemy (the user), leading them to believe that the user is in fact prepared to counter their action. While the Genjutsu has no other effects, the feeling of doom that accompanies it can be more than enough to force the user to pause or rethink their actions, giving the user an opportunity to escape or counterattack while the opponent hesitates.

An advanced Genjutsu that is able to cause horrible damage after numerous exposures. Showing a number of seals the user brings out his hand, now visible to the target, and snaps. The target then hears not the snap but instead the sound of thunder, which triggers a sudden lapse of memory. The first time a target is exposed to this Genjutsu, they instantly forget what they have been doing. The second exposure, they forget what they have been doing for the last 3 posts. A third exposure and they forget what they have done for the last 10 posts. The fourth time of exposure, the target forgets the last in-real-life week. The fifth and last possible time of exposure causes the target to generate a temporary form of amnesia, stretching back an entire in-real-life month. However, the target slowly regains their knowledge after every 5 posts (descending in exposures), and cannot be afflicted with a lower exposure until all healing has been performed.

A genjutsu with an interesting consequence. It can only be activated after the user is afflicted with a genjutsu. Once the user has been afflicted, the person who afflicted them suffers the same consequences of the genjutsu that the user endures. Any illusions manifested or emotions swayed the user feels as well as the target. In order to be able to make this genjutsu work, the user must have mastery over the primary sense which is being afflicted by the genjutsu. In addition, while this technique mirrors all of the symptoms of the genjutsu, it also mirrors the curing of the genjutsu as well. This means that, if the target cancels the genjutsu early, or if the user breaks the genjutsu through kai or pain, then both the afflcting genjutsu and this technique are both rendered void. The upkeep and duration of this technique mirrors the cost of the initial technique mirrored.
