Okay all, this has been a busy few months for many of us in our lives on and off of Gaia, Silver and I included, and because of this we haven't properly informed many of you on your new roles. I really apologise for any confusion during this time sweatdrop All crew member roles and general things you all have to follow will be in this thread, so hopefully it should clear up a few things. Please reply to this thread once you have read it. When all the crew members have responded, I'll turn this back into a normal thread and put this first post in the Rules and General Info thread for future reference.
All Crew Members
Discussion Group
Could ALL members please join the Yahoo group created for the guild: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ggdg_crew/. This is where we will discuss things related to the guild, so its very important that you join and check it regularly to keep on top of new developments.
Crew Meetings
Due to timezine differences, 'meetings' will be held in the Yahoo discussion group, and will last from the 25th of the month to the end of the month, so thats 5 or 6 days. During that time ALL crew members are asked to report on what they've been doing for the guild in the past month, and any future plans or ideas they might have. This will have the dual effect of informing Silver and I that you guys are doing your jobs, and informing Panther whats been going on the past month so she has material for the newsletter.
If you will not be able to log on during the time of the meeting, please PM what you've been doing to me (Chisa) or SilverVixen.
Rules
1. Although you now have the power to do so, DO NOT edit or delete any
posts or threads, or ban any members without checking with SilverVixen
or myself beforehand. If anyone is found to be abusing their power as
a crew member, they will have that power taken from them.
2. Do not accept new join requests if they are blank or have really
really bad typos. A few mistakes are forgivable, but if its obvious
they didn't put any thought or effort into their request at all, then
they'll just have to try again.
3. If for some reason you are not available to do your duties
(particularly with contests and the PM list), please let me or Silver
know at least a week beforehand so we can find someone else to do it
while you're away. If you don't fulfill your duties, you will be given
one warning and a chance to explain yourself, and if it happens again
we'll have to give the position to someone else sad
4. If you do not like your position, or feel you won't have enough
time to do it, please let Silver know as soon as possible, so she can
find someone else to do the job.
5. Please follow the guild rules, and set a good example for the rest
of the guild biggrin
Roles
Please read the information regarding your position, and post that you've read this in this thread!
Sticky Manager - myst_dragon
You, of course have permission to edit/update the following threads:
- Members Websites thread; it hasn't been done for a while, so if you
could update it soon, that would be good ^^;; It's done in
alphabetical order.
Resources - Books and Links
Guild Banners (if anyone posts new ones)
Glossary of Terms
Please try to keep to the format that those threads are already in.
At the meeting: Just let us know that you've updated them that month, and suggest any other ideas you might have.
Auctioneer - retrokitty
Okay, I've gotten the ball rolling with our first guild mega auction.
I want this to be HUGE, so we can wait until we can gather a few more artists together.
Until then I need you to gather samples from the artists and find out
roughly what they are worth, by 'researching' in the Mini
Shops/Requests and Commissions forums, or asking in the Mini Shops
Assistance and Suggestions subforum. If you are going to post the
samples anywhere, let the artist know and get permission from them
first. This is so we know what to sell the flat-price items at, and to
get a rough idea of a good autobuy for the auction.
When the auction starts, I'll need you to create the posts, make
thumbnails of the samples, make a banner or organise someone else to,
etc. More details closer to the auction starting date. It is a big
job, but you have a while to do it. If you need help, ask me, or post
in the guild forum requesting people to help you. If this auction is
sucessful, hopefully we can have more in the future ^-^
At the meeting: Let us know your progress, ie. how many artists you've got, an estimate on the total worth, other ideas for the auction, etc.
Contest Director - Raine Dragon
At the start of each month, you need to make a new contest thread, in a similar format to the ones I've been doing until now. Try to make the contests have a wide range, and if possible the kind of things that people could put in their portfolios. Some ideas:
- personal logos?
- making things for pretend businesses, like logos, signs, webpages,
business cards, stickers, etc.
If you're stuck for ideas, ask me or make a thread asking for ideas
from guild members. For the moment, the prize each month will be a
sealed letter for that month. If the auction goes well, and we start
getting a lot of entries into contests, we might try some bigger
prizes later ^-^
During the month, answer any questions people have (there isn't
usually much/any).
At the end of the month, create a new thread with a poll for members
to vote. You'll need to upload all the entries to our photobucket
account (I'll PM you the details soon) so we're not taking up the
artists' bandwidth, and we still have them if for some reason they
delete their entry. Set the poll to run for 7 days. I'll organise the
buying and the sending of the prize ^-^
At the meeting: We need to know what you have planned for the next contest so Panther can plan something to write in the newsletter.
Journo - Panther Nightwind
I'm really sorry we haven't kept you informed about what we need you to do >.<
We now have the Miss GD account for the PM list, and I'll PM you the login details. Please do not use this account for anything other than this guild stuff.
You'll need to log in every now and then to check for any new PMs from people requesting to be on the list, and add them to the account's friendslist.
For the actual newsletter, you'll be able to find out whats been going on in the guild over the past month at the meeting, and I'll let you know about anything else that needs to go in. When you've written it, please PM it to me and SilverVixen for approval before sending it out to everyone on the account's friendslist. Then post the newsletter in the account's journal for future reference. Silver will take care of the email newsletter side of it, but essentially it will just point to the journal version.
Some things to put in every month:
- last last month's contest winner
- this month's contest
- link to voting thread for last months's contest
- something short about that month's issue of the guild e-zine (I'll
give you something for that)
- something short about that month's featured member
- other general announcements (like about the planned guild auction)
I did last month's newsletter as an example, please try and keep to a similar format: Feb Newsletter
At the meeting: Observe mainly, discuss any queries you might have with the crew member responsible for that area.
Recruiters - Lord_Michieru, Hizzahn, Protic
Okay you guys, I've checked out your post counts ninja and you're pretty good. What we need you to do is have a guild banner (there are plentyyyy to choose from), or at least a text link in your sig, then
post around Gaia so people will flock to our guild biggrin . In particular,
if possible, post around the Art forums, Mini Shops and R+C forums,
and the Computer and Tech forums. No spamming or breaking the rules of
those forums, just be subtle.
Also, if you see anyone around who mentions they are a graphic
designer/web designer/animator/something like that, or has one of
those listed as an interest in their profile, send them an invitation.
You've also been listed as general helpers too, so please help other
crew members if they request it.
At the meeting: Please let us know what you've been doing to bring people to the guild, and if you've noticed any particular threads or forums where lots of graphic designers seem to hang out.
