The Blood Moon Laboratory, while it might sound official, like an open business it is not. It is a secret research area located within the Sonozaki Clan compound where drugs are manufactured and stimulants are developed. It is also a place for developing technology based off of hijacked Arashigakure concepts. While a lot of what comes out of here is no longer in operation, some drugs are still manufactured for parties within the clan's parties.

It has a special work room that Achana often locks herself inside, were she performs experiments and develops her own mechanisms, toxins, and drugs. It was one of the few gifts given to her by her father, but not out of benevolence, but as a place to keep his insane daughter so she did not come out and cause violence and chaos unprovoked.

"Oh my~. Guess it's time to get to work.", Achana said with a soft moan tinting her tone as she stood up from the desk she had fallen asleep at. There were times she rarely went up from the laboratory tier to her private room near the penthouse. 'Yes, it's time to work', she thought to herself as a sick and twisted grin spread across her lips. The sick glee was hidden behind her respirator as she approached the test subject she had delivered by the Clan's contacts in the Cistern Sector. "Unconscious... this wont do. No no, time for you to wakey wakey. You're going to serve your country in the only way a worm like you is worthy.", the mad Kurama scientist chuckled as she walked over and slapped a hand across her captive's face.

The Kurama Clan Scientist was greeted by the usual chorus of wining and crying, 'Were am I?! What are you doing to me?!' Achana absolutely loved these tormented questions. It was quite simple, but it was no use explaining it to the stock she was going to test the toxins she was developing on behalf of the Village. She simply walked over with a syringe filled with a basic chakra poison she had been working on, and injected into the Cistern Sector captive. "Hmm...", she nodded as the black ichor began to ooze from the injection site, instead of blood. "Subject is responding as expected.", she said into a recorder as she made notes on the research. Pained screams from the man strapped down to the operating table were added confirmation.

With one successful poison batch, Achana shrugged softly as she was not keen on stopping there. She instead ran a hand gently over her unwilling patient. "Hurts? Good... Now, let's see if we can't get you ready for the second trial.", the wicked Kurama black heart cooed in toxic delight. The man whimpered in residual agony in response, before she shrugged gently and took a pill, filled with herbs meant to counter the toxin she had injected him with and stuffed it forcefully into his mouth. "Swallow... You might just survive this after all.", she demanded before her hands shoved his jaw shut and pinched his nose, forcing him to ingest the medicine out of reflex. Achana held the test subject's airways closed a moment more than needed before leaving them gasping for oxygen. The drugs would magically work to reverse the basic chakra toxin.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Antidote Development]

It wasn't hatred that motivated her research, but with the initial batches of the twin toxin and antidote successful, it was a proof that intelligence and innovation were going to be her contributions. Still, the weakness of those who lived beneath her station disgusted her. "Trial two...", she said into the recorder with cold indifference as Achana injected the patient with the chakra toxin, this one from another batch, to see if it mirrored the effectiveness of the first. The pained cries as the burning sensation of the ichor moved through the subject's veins was enough to confirm that it was doing as expected. This was only going to make her want to try it again.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Toxin Development]

If there was one thing Achana was particularly good at, it was causing misery and suffering. She only studied antidotes and their synthesis process to counter her own toxins and to prolong the suffering of those who had the unfortunate experience to be experimented on by her. It was no act of mercy as she took another pill and force-fed it to the poisoned research subject. The sneer of contempt on her face behind the respirator was evident of that much. Once the cure set in and the toxin was purged again, she simply clapped her hands and walked back over to the table were she had ingredients for mixing. "Good, another successful antidote. Let's keep going...I'm not tired yet.", she said with a dark chuckle.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Antidote Development]

The pleading, and begging had begun as her captive began to try to reason with her in exchange for his release. What he said was not important enough to be captured on the recording, but Achana's words were. "No, you will stay until I am finished with you. The world belongs to the strong, and the weak are just there to keep us at the top. Now...I will play my part, and you will shut your mouth and play yours. M'kay?", she chimed before the cruel scientist kunoichi jabbed the needle of poison into the man's gut this time. "Because if I get the feeling you don't want to play your part anymore. I'll sew your mouth shut, and your chances of survival go to zero.", she hissed angrily as the poison began to work, by silencing any response but a painful yelling and whimper of agony.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Toxin Development]

Even though Achana went back to her work table and began to synthesize the antidote to the chakra poison while her victim suffered and squirmed on the operation table, she had no intention of letting them survive. She was pretty certain they had gotten that idea too, but were probably holding out hope in desperation that they might escape this laboratory hell to tell the tale. With the pill formed and ready, she went over to the man who seemed eager to receive the cure. They swallowed it down, almost like an obedient piece of livestock. While the cure began to work and remove the vile chemicals from the target's system, Achana began to laugh. The whole process of poisoning and curing this man in a case of systematic research-based torture to further her own skills and supply the Village with toxins and antidotes was just too amusing. As much fun as Achana was having, she'd possibly even do this for free, if she weren't in need of funds for her own private projects.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Antidote Development]

Achana was already coming back from her work table with another batch of the chakra toxin she had been developing on an order from her superiors. "Oh my~. I did not even have to use genjutsu to break you. See? Fate dealt you an odd hand, a feeble mind, no resources... I could kill you now, and that still wouldn't be a sufficient mulligan to justify the resources wasted on getting you to this point.", she monologued as her hand plunged the needle into the side of the man's neck this time. Right into the major vein and deep into the tissues of his collar bone. It was clear that the fourth batch was also a success based on the blackening skin and cries for mercy that erupted from the man in captivity. Achana had plans to give him mercy alright, but not in the way he'd wish. The test subject had about outlived his use, but there was still one last batch of toxins to test for her order.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Toxin Development]

Nearing the end of her clinical trials, Achana shrugged gently as she worked to compound another antidote pill to counter the toxins she had just injected into her research subject. A soft sigh escaped her lips in satisfied elation as the captive on the table continued to writhe in agony while she manufactured the cure to alleviate his suffering, if only for the moment. The pained cries soon stopped as she administered the completed cure, testing how quickly it took to removing the ill effects from the person before her with cold indifference. To her, it was like looking down on an animal, and not a human being, but something lesser. "Almost done. Yes...Ready? We're at the home stretch. And then! If you're still alive, I'll send you home. Promise.", she said with a chuckle before going back to the work desk.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Antidote Development]

Achana hummed eerily as she skipped back over to the research Guinea pig, well, the human variant of one at least. It was what she had debased the man in her research to. With a dexterous twirl of the needle, but careful not to stick herself in her display of showmanship, she plunged it directly down into the area of the chest where the man's heart should be. "Let's try a direct toxic injection to a vital~!", she cried out in glee. The screams and effects were too horrible to document. It was safe to say that the chemicals of the chakra poison had the effectiveness expected from them, and that this final trial was a success. Achana clapped her hands in excitement as she went to package up the five vials of chakra toxin, while her patient lay dying in and in need of a cure.

Quote:
[C-Rank: Clinical Trials: Toxin Development]

With the final dose of the toxin administered and tested successfully, Achana was feeling pretty good and confident that the next cure pill she compounded would nullify its effects. While she mixed and mashed the herbal ingredients supplied to her, she chuckled darkly. The sound of whimpering and groaning from her captive test subject was almost like music to her. "Let's see here...", she remarked as the twisted scientist walked over to the man and gave him the final cure for the test. "Looks like you survived! And I...", Achana paused as she began to wheel the table to a chute on the other end of the room, meant for garbage, but it was large enough for a body if needed. "...am a woman of my word. Let's send you home. Right...back...down...you go~!", she groaned between each word as she dumped the man, who had suffered cruelties of human testing at her hands right down the garbage chute, that dumped outside and dropped the man, all the way down from the sky sector, to his death down in the depths of the Village's underbelly below.

Achana then went back to her work table. The Kurama Clan Scientist dusted her hands off on her lab coat as she sat down and began to package up the antidotes for delivery as well. It had been a gritty process to get things ready for her order. She probably could have done the task without needing to test them at all, but her though process was twisted and warped. No testing meant no fun, and no fun was bad. She was an elite, and fun was a privilege she was supposed to get to enjoy. A luxury that the man she had ruined probably only got to taste a handful of times in his life. "I guess now that's done... Hmmm~... Maybe father will give us one of the girls for the night?", Achana muttered to herself. Weather she planned on using her father's prostitute workers for her research or for something far more sinful and carnal was up in the air, and probably to be decided on should she actually be serious about the idea.

Another day, another project. Achana Sonozaki entered her laboratory room in the Blood Moon. This time, she would not be studying the effects on a living being, but instead, she would be developing her talent further in mechanisms. "Ho hum! All out of batteries... Well crap, guess that's first on today's list of stuff to do!", she spoke to nobody in particular, but most likely the voices in her own head. She was indeed, correct. She needed to develop a supply of basic chakra batteries if she were to power any inventions she intended to make. While they were basic in design and easy to construct, the task was found to be overly tedious and boring at times. This was evident by how nonplussed Achana seemed to be as she finished the last touches on one of the small units. With an infusion of her own chakra, it was complete, and she was able to move onto the next project.

Quote:
[Crafting: Basic Chakra Battery x1: D-Rank]

It had been a particularly boring day already. Nothing but the usual rainy clouds outside, and her father's own cold indifference to her successes on the inside. Burning hatred filled her heart as the continued rejection and lack of acknowledgement from her own dad seemed to be one of her prime motivators."Bound in chains, she waits the rise of the sun. The blood stains, and truth reveal what she has done.", Achana said softly, repeating words that had never been spoken before, except by one of her personalities. A final weld was placed and with the battery sealed, the mad Kurama scientist filled it with chakra. "Oh well. Pain and agony are our friends. To the depths of despair, we meet our ends.", The scientist added as she placed the battery with the other.

Quote:
[Crafting: Basic Chakra Battery x1: D-Rank]

Achana chuckled darkly as she worked on constructing the housing of a third, basic, chakra battery. She reflected on what was depressing her at the moment and it was the fact that despite all of her successes, nobody seemed to care or laud her in praises for her accomplishments. Where were her friends when she achieved a new milestone? Who had her back, even now, as she prepared the foundations for her dream. The foundations for a grand center of research and development that would elevate all Amegakure ninja above the level of the other Hidden Villages. She felt it was her fate, and her destiny. To be loved and hated for all that she was, and at the same time...all that she was not. With a 'plunk', she rolled the completed battery over to the others.

Quote:
[Crafting: Basic Chakra Battery x1: D-Rank]

What sort of creations would Achana's batteries power? Well, she had no clue right at the moment. Though having them as an alternative power source would take the strain off, as some devices could take chakra from a person directly. But, for those with not much gas in the tank to begin with would find them cumbersome. The goal was to use even the most basic of her creations to empower her fellow shinobi and kunoichi. This was the purpose of science, to push the limits of the body with the assistance of tools. "It's what makes us the apex of this world...It started with the sparking of flint on tender, from a raging fire to the evolution of everything. It is simple...we either continue to evolve or we die.", she remarked flatly before tossing the fourth completed battery to the pile.

Quote:

Finally, she came to the last one she needed to create. The chakra batteries could be installed in inventions in pairs, but sometimes it was not needed. At least, in her bat crazy brain, Achana knew how to make sense of it as she formed the seal and welded it closed. "It doesn't matter. Asymmetrical is cool, so are odd numbers.", she grumbled as she worked hard on making sure each of her projects were of the same quality as this one. It would all be for nothing if they were worth nothing. With a sigh of fatigue as she filled this fifth battery, Achana slumped down in her chair and stared up at the ceiling. "How long must I wait until people see me for what I am?", she asked, only the void and space of the room seemed to answer in its silence, and with that, she began to snore, going to sleep out of the fatigue from chakra drain.

The laboratory had been empty, and very few experiments had taken place, well, those of the scientific nature at least. Achana's personality had been in a flux between Lust and Sloth, unable to focus on much when those facets of herself were in control. Though, even with Sloth Achana in effect this day, she reclined back in a chair and continued the studies of Yatagarasu, the patron deity of her leader. No matter what facet took the wheel in Achana's mind, there was one thing she wanted to do more than anything and that was to be recognized for the asset she was to The Hidden Rain. By revering the crows and entering into the fatalistic union with the ways of Yatagarasu. Even now, as she studied the initial texts that foretold the futility of carving one's own destiny, things started to make sense to the seven facets of Achana's fractured mind. "Destiny is predetermined. There is no free will.", she muttered to herself. Step one was simply accepting this core truth, but still...there was more to explore.

Quote:
[Mission : Religion: D-Rank - Study Crow Lore/Religious Texts]

Achana unwrapped a cherry sucker and placed the candy in her mouth as she considered the texts. "Carving one's own path is futile. The path is already been carved, all one must do is simply walk.", the mad scientist stated with a click of the hard candy against the back of her teeth. Some might see this sort of religion was depressing and self-defeating, but the more Achana came to understand what it meant, it was liberation. She could feel as if the very words of the Crow Lord themselves were absolving her of any responsibility to please others. The Sonozaki clanswoman either would by her own destiny, or she would not. It was simple, and as clear as a ripple in a pond. "We are not here to please anyone, but to gather knowledge and walk the path put before us.", she affirmed with a crunch on the sucker, crushing the sugary candy.

Quote:
[Mission : Religion: D-Rank - Study Crow Lore/Religious Texts]

One would think, as a scientist, that such an interest into the realms of intangible things such as gods and destiny would be beneath Achana. But, oh how they would be wrong. "What is science but a belief in theories? A faith in the unproven waiting to be proven? Science is prophecy, and technology advancements are answers from the gods.", Achana muttered internally among her split personalities. It seemed her mind was in unison in this effort, as if all seven facets of her inner being were aligned in this moment. "It matters not who discovers them, destiny has predetermined that already. All we need to do is just accept that and look beyond.", she continued now as she clenched a fist. It seemed like the scientist was making a sort of breakthrough, even if it was not a technological one.

Quote:
[Mission : Religion: D-Rank - Study Crow Lore/Religious Texts]

If everything was set out before her, Achana now knew that she had but only one option and that was to continue this study and embrace this religious concept as truth. What Toso had said when he questioned just how long she had lived for anyone but herself now made sense. It was not a matter of living for herself that mattered, because all of her desires were irrelevant. "The prophecy of destiny comes from Yatagarasu, and it is by the revelations of our fate that we can accept today for what it is and what it will become.", she spoke aloud, and to nobody in particular. The only audience to her indoctrination into this faith in fatalism and predestination were the voices in her head. The unity of her mind was something that she had not been able to achieve since the Sakakugan awoke in her early childhood. Was this a sign? Possibly, but as fate would have it, everything was determined... even this momentary unity.

Quote:
[Mission : Religion: D-Rank - Study Crow Lore/Religious Texts]

It was clear now to Achana that what she must do is follow this faith, and concept. It must be a part of her life now, as it was destined to be so from the start. Her very status, bloodline, and power...all of these things were written in the stone of destiny long before her father and mother ever conceived her in their lust for control and strength through the primitive concept of bioengineering through sex. "We are more than a weapon. We are a daughter of prophecy.", she affirmed with a clenched fist. She was in full realization of her role in maintaining Yatagarasu as the deity of this Village. The devout should know they were being watched at all times. Those that struggled against fate in futility would be cut down. There was no room for those who would attempt to deny destiny.

It was then she saw the flutter of a black bird, with red eyes shoot through what should have been a sealed room. It perched on the desk and stared at Achana. The scientist simply stared back before tilting her head to the side, only for the crow to mirror the gesture. Of course, it was a reminder that even in the sanctity and security of her laboratory, she was being watched. Prophecy had simply deemed this the moment in her fate when she would come to accept her role as an inquisitor in the name of the Lord of Midnight Dreary Realm. The crow then let out a 'caw!' and fluttered off into the shadows, leaving behind a solitary black feather. Some might see it as insignificant, but it was anything but. It was a divine gift, and recognition of her faith and destiny.

Achana Sonozaki, the heiress of the Sonozaki family, had resumed her work in the laboratory of the Blood Moon. Her revelation as a Prophet of Yatagarasu had only seemed to awaken her madness as she began her work for something beyond herself. It was time to take her technological prowess and benefit the Village of Rain as a whole. Power granted through innovation was not a denial of fate, but quite the opposite. It was accepting the truth that a tool would be needed to accomplish one's destiny. Her blood red eyes of the Sakakugan peered fervently down at the new respirator technology she had been designing in the wake of this selfsame epiphany. 'For the greater good, we will demonstrate our worth.', she thought to herself as her precision engineering tightened screws and created the airtight seals that would prevent airborne toxins from seeping through the mask.

As the Sonozaki heiress continued her efforts on the mask, it became evident that the selfsame labor was being used to produce not one, but two of the potent new examples of the technology she had invented. Achana brushed some hair out of the way of her eyes as she carefully wired the chakra battery compartments, and threaded the chakra needles in the mouth of the new device. It allowed the mask to operate independently of one's own chakra reserves and even those without chakra to use it with the help of chakra batteries. It was clear that there was precision and care put into this labor, but also a degree of pride, as her inner personalities had a sinful hand in helping drive her ambition.

Finally, after several hours of labor, Achana stopped and grinned at the marvel of technology before her. A dark chuckle escaped her lips as she held up the twin masks. One for her, and the other for somebody worthy. "Sacrifice...Somebody who can sacrifice something important. That is who will receive my blessing.", she remarked with a nod of affirmation. "A person who can give away something dear to them and expect nothing in return; This is who should be uplifted by my efforts.", she spoke aloud and to nobody but the voices in her head. The response was nothing short of a chorus of internal unity among the split personalities. The sinful specters who took up resident in the mind of the powerful, mad, scientist were in accord.

Crow calls and the sounds of feathers flapping around her laboratory could be heard. It was some time after the events at the Academy, and now was the time to perfect her calling and accept her destiny. Yatagarasu had seen fit to bless her with a profound understanding of his teachings through the aid of the lesser summons that now seemed to have taken a liking to the dreary and dark laboratory. Akumu was her favorite of the summons, mainly because he always seemed to bring along a flock of friends to hang out and keep her company while she studied, researched, and experimented.

"The futility of this training is that I am simply destined to do it.", Achana remarked to nobody in particular, only for Akumu to poke his head out of one of her sleeves and turn the page of her book of lore on crows and Yatagarasu for her. "Never had a choice. Nope. Fate is unavoidable.", was a response from the murder of crows that had taken to perching in her sleeves along with Akumu. He was a true partner in crime, and the extra mouths that spoke truth alongside the cool little crow were only additional sound to reinforce the lessons.

With Akumu perching on her shoulder, Achana had begun pouring over a scroll she had acquired from the Village's library. A collection of prophecy and predictions. Some were as benign as what the weather was likely to be like in the coming months. Another prophecy she scrolled over mentioned something of a moon turning red. Now that was something of interest, and she quickly continued over the apocryphal prediction and paid it more attention. "This is something a little more than the senseless weather reports and harvest estimations.", she said with a wide grin on her face. Her crimson gaze of the Sakakugan caught the eye of Akumu. She wasn't sure, but if the crow could smile, she was certain he would be. "Seems cool enough to look into. It'd be a lot cooler if you had snacks.", the small summoned creature said in response. This caused the Sonozaki clan scientist to sigh softly and acquiesce to the avian familiar's request. As she opened the desk drawer and pulled out the crackers she kept for the birds, she made sure to treat Akumu first, giving him a whole one to himself before crunching the rest up into crumbs and throwing them behind her where the rest of the murder that accompanied the 'coolest crow of the Midnight Dreary Realm' swooped in on it to clean the laboratory of each speck. "Always food and shiny things with you lot... I suppose that's why I like you so much. Similar interests.", Achana said as she went back to her studies.

Achana had delved deeper into the texts concerning the forecast of an upcoming Blood Moon. A Blood Moon was culturally significant, not just to the Kurama but also to the Uchiha. It also held a great deal of meaning for the crows too. It was a fatalistic omen of great disaster for many, but in the case of an event surrounding or concerning Uchiha, Kurama, and or Crows... it was a sign of great fortune. As a member of the Prophets of Yatagarasu, it was the young Sonozaki's fate to divine the meaning of the impending lunar event and to what fate had in store for her and those who also had bloodline limits that fell in line with the celestial body.

Quote:
Blood Moon Prophecy : Part 1 - Religion Mission - C Rank

Her nose wrinkled slightly as she scrolled through the words of the scroll. Achana had a thing about old text and dust. The filth was off-putting, but a necessary evil of her line of work as a researcher and a scientist. 'When the Night Sky burns. The cycle turns a full circle twice in the months of amber leaves. Fear grips as winter sets in. Crimson hues kiss the darkness.', she read from the scroll. It was a prophetic verse for sure, written in a poetic quatrain. 'Over the hills and mountains of Earth. A sign of blood and victory is in the sky. A red celestial birth. Many souls will die.', she continued on. "Well, s**t...that's sort of ominous.", she grumbled. There was more to read and contemplate, but at this stage it was predicting a mass death. Possibly a battle?

Quote:
Blood Moon Prophecy : Part 2 - Religion Mission - C Rank

'To the ends of the Earth, fires ignite. The crows will call out to those who survive. To the living go the harvest and all that it reaps. Over the loss of loved one's others will weep.', Achana studied at the next part of the poetic prophecy. A lot of these gnostic writings were often esoteric in their choice of vocabulary. Those who could divine and foresee future events either received the information in a dream, a vision with the aid of mind expanding drugs, or very rarely from the beak of the most revered of messengers. It was a prime opportunity to prepare herself for revealing this text to her Kage, and idol should need of her research be requested.
