I used to focus on Christian based religions, but now my menue has variety. However, it's hard to criticize some Asian religions because they're practically Atheist. Confusionism recognizes no god. It's pretty much just a philosophy.

"Confusionism"? The religion of the confused? (That seems to describe most religions...) Do you mean Confucianism?

Anyway, a lot of Asian religions insist on some sort of spirit or soul that transcends the physical components of the body. I have a problem with that--consciousness, for example, I see as just a curious feature of the electrochemical operation of our brains.

But his point is that there aren't actual gods. Correct me if I am mistaken, but isn't the People's Republic of China officially atheist?

I mean Christianity has the Bible, and thier past is a blood bath. Correct me if I am wrong but Islamists have the Toran.

Notice a pattern? Mormons have a book too although I am uncertain of it's name...and Mormons don't have a bloodless past either.

That'd be the Qu'ran or Koran and the Book of Mormon. Mormons also use the Christian bible, and consider themselves Christian.
Buddhists also have a book and it seems to me, thought correct me if I'm wrong, that they have not had as many religious disputes and wars. Their book is called the Surtras also sometimes called the Tripitaka (or something like that).

Indeed, but I'm not sure Buddhism is exactly a religion, either. They don't technically have any god(s). It's a path for enlightenment, not anything geared toward reverence and worship of deities. Also, it's more of a personal religion than its more violent brethren; they don't hold anything against other religions. {Also, doesn't Sutra only have one R? I'm not sure..}
Probably ( sweatdrop and I have a quiz on Buddhism tomorrow)

Buddhism has the very mystical aspect of reincarnation as a fundamental part of its philosophy.

You got it. My bad for the poor spelling. Yeah, even if they believe in a spirit, they're still technically Atheist. But I agree with you Zero, I don't care for mysticism either.

Thank goodness I'm 12. Yeah, I didn't really explore that site, but the discussion in the GD is pretty good and makes sense but it defintetly belongs in the ED because some people are just posting crap in that perfectly good thread. talk2hand

The Teenage Bill of Rights

We, a new generation of young Americans, in order to protect the heritage of our forefathers and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and generations to come, do affirm and pledge this declaration:

When character and morality are uncommon qualities,
When corporations and marketers seek to profit from our destruction,
When pop culture icons do not represent our values,
When Judeo-Christian beliefs are labeled as intolerant,
When activists seek to remove God from our schools,
When truth is deemed relative and unknowable,

It is necessary for us, the merging generation of young
Americans, to stand for what is right and reclaim the values
that have made our nation great. We call our nation to a higher
standard, a lifestyle based

not on convenience, but on character,
not on what is easy, but on what is excellent,
not on what feels good, but on what is good,
not on popularity, but on principle,
not on what is tempting, but on what is true.

We, as young Americans, assert our right to determine our future and the future of our great nation. We hold these truths as our God-given rights, and we embrace them with our hearts and our lives:

We recognize that God, our Creator, is the source of all truth.
We will live with honor, always striving to do the right thing, even when it is unpopular.
We will be honest and truthful in matters large and small, regardless of the consequences.
We will take responsibility for our actions, and not point to governments, schools, celebrities, parents, or friends to justify our wrong decisions. We recognize that we are responsible for our mistakes.
We will pursue purity throughout our lives. We will not be seduced by a fabricated idea of sex and love. We will save our bodies and hearts for our future spouses, and once married we commit to pursue faithful and enduring relationships.
We will see through the lies of drugs and alcohol and refuse to let any chemical influence our thinking or destroy our lives.
We will respect the authorities placed in our lives, even though some may not live as honorably as they should. We will honor our parents, teachers, and other leaders.
We will reach out with compassion to the hurting and less fortunate, both in our society and around the world. We refuse to be absorbed with our own comforts and desires.

We recognize the value of each life, whether born or unborn, and we seek to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. We will do our best to represent and communicate our Creator to our peers, leaders, and society as a whole. We will work to see that every person has the opportunity to see and hear about the true nature of our God.

In signing, we commit to pursue a life that exemplifies these standards. We refuse to sit idly by and witness the destruction of our generation. With God's help, we envision a bright and prosperous future for the nation we love.

{shudder} Does that give anyone else the heeby-jeebies? I can just picture an army of brainwashed teenagers reciting this "bill of rights" in unison.

Does no one else see the swastika in that? This whole thing is EXACTLY like the Nazis...take a group that feels downtrodden, promise them a return to power, hold rallies, and then execute opposition. OK, maybe they haven't killed anybody, but it's coming.

EDIT: At first, I thought that this Bill of Rights is actually kind of benign, if it is followed to the letter. Then, I explored their website. Did you know that they have a quota of people to convert? Did you know that they have to keep a daily blog of their rabid religious activities? The Bill of Rights is actually more like a manifesto, or some kind of legal contract. By agreeing to it, they are signing more of their rights away then they are gaining.

This organization is truly sick.

I'm not sure how big it is, but it seems like a mortal threat to non-Christians everywhere. I would just love to find a member and beat them up right now; it scares me that much.

I am really, really scared.
