You know, it was the Romantics who started the idea that poetry ought to just "flow." Before then, everyone assumed that it was work. There are great poems before and after the Romantics.

*And, some of them really did rewrite.

All of which is to say, I wouldn't let the way that you write a poem worry you too much!
