This is a start thread. I hope that from this thread we will be able to create many others.
I was wondering about what people thought of dreams.
Do they have fortune telling aspects? Are they influenced by spirits wanting to contact the living?
What do you think?

I believe that sleeping is a great way to communicate with the dead and to put your natural ability of foresight to good use.

A good example of "fortune telling"- just the other day, I had a serious case of deja vu. We had just rearranged a table in our living room to make room for a fish tank. Otherwise, the room had stayed the same since we moved here. Well, when my cat jumped on the table... it was such an angle that I knew I had seen it before... in a dream that I had before we moved to the state of Florida (which was last December). After that sensation passed, I knew that someone I had not seen for over three months, would just barge through the door unexpected. I whisper to my roommate, "So and so is going on their way to visit," . She looks at me funny and shrugs it off. Low and behold, our visitor walks in five minutes later. My roomy was a little more than shocked. wink

Now as far as talking to the dead through dreams, I see this all the time. Lose a loved one and wish to speak to them again... and sometimes that wish will come true. Mediums also speak with the dead in their dreams. I've had a few experiences where this happened to me. Our house spirit snuck into my mind as I slept. He was playing pranks and laughing evilly, trying to scare me... but when I came closer to inspect him... he was nothing but an englishman with a sense of humor. He told me his name was Mr. Risk. Later, I found out from my roommate's husband... that Mr. Risk was a historian for his family that lived in Scotland.

I've had something like that in the last paragraph, 1-2 sentences. Since it's summer break, I kinda missed my soon-to-be girlfreind. I had a dream and in a way, I got to talk to her. Maybe it was just a dream or maybe she missed me too...

The theories on dreams are many and multi-facited. They can be a medium for many things. Telepathy, seeing the past, present, or future, astral travel, communicating with the dead *and* the living. Many dreams are also symbolic. And they can help gain insight into ourselves and our problems. As for theories on *why* we are capable of doing all of this in our sleep, that's another post.

dreams in my opinion is a place where you can step back and see the bigger picture, and use that web to do things never done before.....dreams are best decribed as islands in an infinite space that fills with all you see, do, and hear. the pieces of all is taken (for the non lucid)and put together to create dreams....for nightmares its some subconscious feeling or regret that magnifies and makes itself known....this is my food for thought....

In my opinion, when the body goes to sleep, the other two aspects of humans, (the emotional and the mental) are the only consious ones. Not being tied down to the physical side of things does give people a change to open up to things that they would not normally open up to.

I'm not sure about dreams. I do get deja vu about weekly.

I think dreams are a bit like tarot cards—a gateway to the subconscious.

Dreams are our subconscice usually trying to tell us something. Ocasionally you can go to the other realms in them. Sometimes you might get a prophetic dream or contact with the dead.

i believe that dreams are the best way to communicate with the dead. because in a dream nothing can hurt you. you have total controll, even when you dont think you do, for instance you are communicating with say, a dead grandmother and she is actually an evil spirit planning on killing you in your sleep (this is possible, if too much physical/mental damage is done in a dream/nightmare then you could end up having a serious heart attack). but in theory since it is your mind, and your mind only you can vanquish the evil spirit/demon easily.

i use to get those deja vu dreams all the time. but now i seam to not have them as much, (or at least i don't remember having allot of them now.) they were usually of something bad or something that had no importance that i knew of. (the bad ones i tried to do differently then the dream and make them right.) ((is that bad?)) i wish i could control it more
