Josh.

Some parents ARE too poor to buy things for their kids.
Really...
Don't use references to your own family...
Yours is not everyone's.

Sarah.

seriously, you're being majorly closed minded. Let me remind you, the very first instruments were the most primitive and simple things ever.

NOBODY is too poor to have an instrument.

to make a bass, it's as simple as a piece of rope, a broom handle, and a plastic bucket.
to make a recorder or a chinese flute all it takes is a long pipe and something to punch holes in it.

NOBODY is too poor to have an instrument.
I wasn't generalizing everyone based on my family.
I was generalizing HIS family based on mine.
If HE can afford internet connection, he can afford a ******** yard sale guitar. stare

I don't know a second hand base guitar is about $75 (60 quid) where I am. You'd be lucky to find one for less. Instruments aren't as cheap as people think, its why i took painting, its cheaper then instruments and you can paint on practically anything you find with anything you find. Its the only true creative outlet.

I found a $65 (US) electric at a thrift store, in surprisingly good condition for a cheap Strat.

Effect pedals are really cheap, too, surprisingly- you can get standard overdrive and wah pedals for like, $4.00 American.

Painting or drawing works as well...
but sersiously... you don't need to buy a top end fancy schmancy guitar.
My first acoustic is a cheap piece of s**t Yamaha classical guitar from 1970.

and i didn't say anything about a thrift store.... : P the reaons I DIDN'T is because thrift stores over price instruments. Go to yardsales, go to fleamarkets... etc.. or seriously do this...
get a wooden slat, a cardboard box, woodglue, weed whacker line, and whatnot... and make a cardboard bass... x D

How am I being closed minded?
Lots of parents cannot buy their kids things.
:/.
I know quite a few.
Parents cannot even afford things for themselves, let alone their kids.

And the whole internet thing.
There are libraries.
Schools.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

Really, Josh...
Think, plz?

see i know what its like to cut and im still getting help and for me im not sure if its working. (ok im saying flat out i DO NOT know how you feel and im not going to try and pretend to say somthing like that or that i know how to deal) just wanted to let you know that there are others out there with the same problems. and ya for me and meny others it feels good but it is kind of bad. as long as its not intended to kill yourself its a problem that can be slowly delt with. i guess again im not a doctor this is just what i think and feel myself. emo <<< eh thats funny

I know it's probely not a big deal but I cut for the first time today out of shear anger at myself and depression because I'm stuck being... me, and it actually helped. I calmed down quite a bit afterwards.

it calmed me down a couple yoears ago.... but then i stoped and now it's a hell of alot harder to get a girl friend becouse of the HUNDREDS of scars all the way up my arms!! yah it's sad I've done it hundreds of times... it can be an addiction believe it or not.....

Music, only helps a bit.
I don't really have anyone to talk to.
Poetry is pointless, it'll just remain unread.
I don't have instruments my parents are to poor.
I can't hang with my friends because my parents are over-protective assholes.
Everything I love to do seems to be gone.

I know I'm complaining but...

Its basically the same with meh, but I would never cut to relieve my anger... Actually it may sound dumb, but I punch walls and write things down in a journal.... Depending on what Im feeling I'll usually just lock myself in my room, blast some music and scream into a pillow... You may think you have no one to talk to, but there are plently of people who either went through the same thing, or are going through it now...
