Help finding a tutorial

I used to be able to make gradient lineart like this.



But the site that showed me how to do it recently went down. Now I'm trying to remember how to do it, and...I'm getting every step but ONE right, and it's the most important part. I know it uses Channels in Photoshop, and I know that grey color values are involved somehow....but thats about it. Help? gonk

You should search Google's cache. If your lucky its there.

Make your lineart underneath a new layer. Fill the layer with a gradient. Set the gradient's layer blending mode to colour. Voila. Sorry I don't have any images.

Yeah, I've always wanted to learn how to do that. But I don't have photoshop, i have Macrmedia Fireworks. is it basically the same?

That's pretty. Never thought of using a gradient like that. Make sure when you use Snarkeh's advice, set the blending mode to color or overlay I'm not sure which one it is... sorry!

Or go to

Layers -> New Gradient layer -> select colors -> and hit ok. It's something like that I don't have photoshop where I'm at right now.
