They certainly made a lot of changes, most of which I am not happy about. For example, they removed the Immortal Area because they removed the Django sidestory because Boktai 3 never came here. As a result, the Hakushaku (Count) chips are completely unavailable, as are the Django chips. The Graveyard Area is only one area, not Graveyard 1 and 2, and Undernet 3 is completely gone. However, we westerners do have one advantage over the Japanese version: we can unlock ProtoMan FZ without an e-Reader. There are 35 total possible requests on the Request BBS, but you cannot get all of them in the Japanese version without finding the appropriate e-Reader card. In the western version, they are already unlocked. Can anyone else think of any (un)helpful differences?

You CAN get a Hakushaku chip, but it does nothing and the chip is blank. It's in a golden mystery data in underground though. ninja

Why do they make it available if it's useless?

They didn't mean to make it available, but they accidently left it in.

That was another Japanese eReader thing. If you went to the premier of the RockMan.EXE movie in Japan, you got a Forte eReader card. By scanning this card, you got a version dependent variation of the BassCross (gold for Blues, silver for Colonel). In the GBA game, you can access BassCross through cheat codes, and I believe the eReader card works, too. The easier way is through Double Team. If you have the Bass icon on either version of BN5, you can use BassCross in Double Team when you play with that cartridge in the GBA slot. The version of the cross depends on which version you play in Double Team (again, gold in ProtoMan/Blues, silver in Colonel). The difference between the teo colors is this: gold (ProtoMan) is designed for power. Silver (Colonel) is designed for speed. They're both equally awesome and useful, but it's hell to try and unlock it. To get the Bass icon in the GBA game, you have to get all the way to the end of the Nebula Area, which means that you have a full library (Standard, Mega, Giga, PA, everything, except secret). Not only that, but you have to S-Rank all of the V3 ally Navis in order to access their DS forms in the final Nebula Area. You have to beat all the DS forms to fight the Lord of Chaos. And the first time you get to this area, it doesn't matter how quickly you beat them. You're first battle against the Lord of Chaos is set, and it's not Bass. If you want to fight him, you have to jack back in and travel all the long way through Nebula Area, fight all the DS Navis again, this time within a certain time range, and then you fight Bass, who is friggin' near impossible, as usual. So, yeah, BassCross is good. At least, it better be, or I'm wasting the life I don't have trying to get it.

That's only because the e-reader failed horribly outside of Japan. >_>
