Physical samples are great resources when it comes to deciding on choice of stock, varnishes, bindings or other items for a finished product.
Do any of the professional graphic designers here have their own samples? Where does one aquire these? Where can one purchase a pantone swatch book?

I go to paper shows and get paper samples, right now I have about 200-300 of different types of paper, or you can call your paper mill and paper seller up and ask them to send you paper, or even go to their websites.
As for pantone books, those things are expensive, but EVERY designer needs one who does anything with print. You can also go down to your local bookstore and get some swatch books there of various color sample combinations.
