music wise
emo has been around for a while, but emo today is different. EMO means emotive hardcore. (though a lot of emo bands arn't very hardcore) Emo is just a sub genre of punk.

society wise
to me emo is like punk; about the music. BUT there are some confused individuals out there. and if you see someone wearing all black dont asume they're emo or goth. (most the time they're kids from the GC generation of "punk") If someone calls someone or themself emo for being depressed smack them. Depression and emo are not the same thing. basically there are very few true emos out there.

the fall of emo
somehow stereotypes gets started arrow posers and other people who don't know what emo is follow said stereotypes arrow the stereotypes then become true for most arrow emo is ruined
