We have a customer where I work. She's a very religious person. She's the stereotypical big black woman, who probably, though I haven't seen it myself, gets up and dances and yells in church, clapping her hands and so on.

The first time I called her at home about a medication we had for her, I was thrown off because rather than saying "Hello." when answering the phone she said, "Praise the Lord this is Nettie!"

I was a little bothered by it, but I know she doesn't mean anything mean by it. She doesn't know my beliefs, and personally it's none of her business. You just have to understand that those people mean well, and aren't out to offend you. Unless you wear a shirt displaying you as an atheist every day, they probably just assume you're another one of the majority.
