Celebrating Reveler

PostPosted: Mon Dec 18, 2006 1:46 pm
Welcome! In this thread, I ask you what you celebrate. Do you celebrate nothing, Christmas, Quanza (I more than likely misspelled that) ect?

I, for one..celebrate Christmas. Mainly because, it's a famous man's b-day. I don't care if he was a loony moron, it's a man's birthday and I have the right to celebrate accordingly.

That, and my parents don't give a care if I'm an atheist come christmas.

I'm more or less apathetic about the whole thing...

But I do appreciate time off, and gifts, and the well wishes of family and friends.

Oh, come on. What's there NOT to like about christmas? My family don't do the religious thing at all (though my dad does sing carols really loudly just because he knows it annoys me. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have the worst singing voice ever). And theres PRESENTS and FOOD and MULLED WINE and MUSIC and NO WORK and warm cosy fires and talking to family, seeing friends and PARTIES and did i mention good food and alcohol? And the excitement of getting up and opening the presents and having a laugh with your family and getting embarrasing pictures taken of you and pulling crackers and decorating the tree and the smell of a good ol' vegetarian christmas dinner mrgreen

Christmas. The rest of my family is baptist but the holiday isn't really so religious anymore. Anyone can celebrate with the gift giving, decorating, and such. And candy canes. <3

There are no Christians in my family, but we celebrate Christmas anyway. After all, it's just another commercialised holiday. Not that we need one, but it's a perfect excuse to have a feast. Isn't it great that we get the public holiday?

I'm Chinese, so I get to celebrate winter solstice as well. Chinese food for winter solstice, Western food for Christmas eve!

A group of my friends and I like to call it Xamas.

I celebrate the part of the holiday that represents family, friendship, food, and the gift that is giving.

My family members are all thiests...but I'm not to certain what they consider themselves as.

I do know however that my mom plans of having us open our gifts on the Eve of Xamas...rather than the day of, just so that we all can sleep in, and have the energy to go to the brunch that my step-dad's sister is having later on in the day.

I celebrate not having to go to school for two weeks...

I used to go to church, but then gave up that line, now it's pretty much just joining in with the happiness and good spirit and not acually celebrating much. I don't think that Christmas is now much of a time for celebrating Jesus and the like, but now it's a time to relax (like that ever happens, have you been shopping recently, oh good grief) and to give presents and be with family and such.
