I've already seen the beginning to what I'm about to say in another posting, but here's how it goes.
"Emo" is an adjective, so it can apply to just about anything.
It was once the Rivers Cuomo-lead singer of Weezer-sensitivity and angst accompanied by the alternative rocker look and being horny.
Now it's a major stereotype that is bashed. People who follow said "emo" look are seen as followers of Hot Topic trends, and, typically, have hair over one eye, tight jeans, slip-on Vans, et cetera.
While I know that it can be much more than just emotional music and interesting style, not many realize the pain that some feel. There was a posting in the "Gothic Angels" guild- "do u like emo kids?????".
Give me some feedback on what exactly you do that makes you "emo". I'm interested to learn more so that I can tell all of my idiot friends how y'all really are.
{I'm not saying that I lack it, but really, it's more of an inner thing for me.}

it's viewed totally diffrent from
just what 'emo people' go through
agreed to what you said;
"Tight jeans,Hair over one eye,Hot topic,Vans"
I constantly see
"I LOVE EMO BOYS"
which they refer to as
guys in tight pants and hair past their eyes
where it looks like they cant see
i'm really not sure if i'm answering any questions
but i guess what most people think
is 'emo' is the
1)Music
2)What they wear
3)Cutting.

i've seen an aquaintence of mine
who is preppier than Abercrombie and Fitch itself,
with a picture of herself
with all ther hair over her face
and looking down
with a knife to her wrist.
Captioned, "I could NEVER be emo!I"m too happy!<3"
That picture made me irritated.
Emo's can be happy.

Well, i'm done
i'm really not sure if i just answered
any of your questions

but, that's my view
thanks for your time(:

PS.DAMN. that was long.

Actually it can't stand for just about anything at all, it's either a style of Hardcore Punk or it's nothing at all and in that case you'd be wrong. It's not a fashion sense or an attitude, get over it.

yes, emos can be happy. the thing we most get picked on about though, is cutting. and cutting is not an emo thing, its a personal thing.

If being emo makes you happy, then you are doing something wrong.

um...what makes me [the general idea of] "emo" is...

i like poetry and reading it to myself when i think no one is listening...i'm not sure if that's emo or just crazy...but w/e...

i also like tight pants. i'm a girl....so i think it's ok...[that's a joke too. chill! razz ]

i also cry often....most times for no reason at all...and stuff....

i also beleive that emo's could be happy.. but there IS a difference between "emo" and "depressed"...

something that bothers me is the perception that all emos are bi. people are shocked all the time over the fact that im straight... it bugs me a lot stare

Ignorance is bliss.

If people (in this guild) want to be emo and have stupid hair, then whatever.
It's not anyone else's place to argue.
Regardless of what you believe. Let them have their moment. Metaphorically speaking.

okay without being biatchy i will post my oh so valid opinion:
my perception (and im not saying this is right)of "emo", is kids who listen to emotional-hardcore music, and/or write poetry, or draw pictures and listen to music excessivly to help deal with any bad feelings they may have.
If they cut then thats something else to deal with seperatly, eg. with counciling.
just because someone wears drainpipes it doesnt make them emo, eg. paris hilton wears drainpipes.
just because someone has hair over their eyes it doesnt make them emo,
and so on and so forth for all the steriotypes.

I agree that.
All stereotypias sucks.. I think being emo is more what you think than what you look like. I don't have tight pants or hair over one eye and I don't cut and I believe I'm happy sometimes (like someone said emos can realy be happy). And still I know that I'm emo 'cose I'm emotional and love every art (music/poetry/writing/draw etc.) and I believe I'm emo. I think being emo is that you don't care what other thinks about you and even if they label you for something else, you still know that your emo.

(Damn, I think this whole text is kinda pointless but I send it anyhow)
