Two words that make me happy: Atheist. Congressman.

Atheist congressman. It's cool.

-What does this mean for society?
-Is he "atheist" enough?
-Seriously, how big are this guy's balls?

I knew some atheists who went to a unitarian universalist church. I thought it was silly of them. I'm not sure how I feel about that atheist church in dallas.

I wouldn't expect anything much out of it, it's enough of a step just to have some one admit it. And I read somewhere else that he's like 75 and an incumbent.
I think it's probably better that way. Like a few years down the road we'll be able to say 'Don't you remember? We had an atheist congressmen back in 2007 and the world hasn't ended yet!' xP Sounds like he needs to either be forgettable or a remarkably great congressman, err. To rephrase that- I just wonder what would happen if he had had some big scandal? >.o "oh that's not surprising for an atheist.."

Wow I heard that they found someone last week...

I hope he wins in the next election he is in...because I don't want the only open atheistic person in congress to be voted out that quickly.

There are a lot of Atheists who are Unitarian Universalist. I really want to be, but I can't find an organization around where I live. I mean, there are Unitarian Churches (which I don't have a problem with, except for the whole me not being Christian thing). I can't find any "non-denominational" organizations, though. sad
