The Grimoire (Techniques, Rituals and Methods)

Got something to teach? This is exactly the place for it! Whether it's astral projection, particular tips about hunting for ghosts, steps to creating a servitor, interesting telekinetic tricks, or how to make Four Thieves oil, this is the subforum for it. This subforum operates in much the same way as the Essays one, except here we're more concerned with practicality, pragmatism, how-tos and teaching.

Guidelines

  • This subforum is for completed and fully researched ideas. You're allowed to post tutorials only if you've completely tried and tested whatever it is you're talking about, and it works. Otherwise, it belongs in the Research subforum.

  • You are NOT permitted to post tutorials in exchange for Gaia gold. If people found your tutorial effective, they might donate to you (in fact, we encourage it, people!); but do not go out and demand profit for your tutorials.

  • Make sure your tutorial doesn't already exist. If it does, you're more than welcome to go to that thread and add to it, or you can tweak your topic to be about something related, but not the same thing. If you're putting your own spin on a topic someone else has already written, that's great - just make sure they're not /too/ similar.

  • You have a whole thread. Use it. Split up your tutorial into steps to help people along, or (for something bigger) split it up into different posts by making a new thread and posting several times to reserve the thread for yourself. This makes it a whole lot easier on the reader.

  • Distinguish between fact and fiction, and between fact and personal opinion. Imagine how well a post on the Necronomicon would go if I didn't tell anyone it weren't real. Especially when the Necronomicon contradicts so many proven metaphysical facts. And when giving your opinions, let people know they're yours and yours alone.

  • Make sure your posts are clear, concise and well written. Don't waffle about talking about irrelevant things, get straight to the point (but provide interesting asides, by all means!) and remember the rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling. A two line post on "lol so mayb wen the viel falls we'll all bcum gods???? i think so wot do u think?" is exactly the kind of thing we /don't/ want.

  • Give links to references or more information. If someone thinks you're making up some stuff, they'll want to go to the pages you used for the info to check it. If they really liked your topic, adding links will give them a place to start learning more. Links are very important and I recommend everyone who writes topics here adds links to outside information. As well as this, if your post is not your own, make sure you give credit to the author where it's due!
