(Going back to original post) You know that is a really good idea for an experiment. I could totally do it too because I go to a Catholic school, not because I am Catholic, but because it's a really good school. Anyway I have already encountered some reactions to my being Atheist, they are as follows:

Situation 1:
Me: Yeah, so I'm an Atheist.
Girl: *Stares at me like I have just eaten a kitten alive* So you don't believe in God
like.... *leans in way too close* at all?

Situation 2:
This wasn't so much talking as it was one of my friends in denial and trying to convince me that I was in fact an Agnostic leaning towards Christ.

Situation 3 (After she had overheard situation one a bit earlier):
Me: Teacher I have a question. I don't really understand the Christian religion
so could you explain to me how Jesus can be both God and the Son of
God?
Religion Teacher: .....Unless you grow up with these teachings you can't really
understand them.....ok back to blah blah blah...

Uh, I guess I'll translate;

Holy s**t you've got Bawls (-drools- Bawls). I've dealt with enough people who
won't explain their actual reasons for believing (the farthest I get is "the bible
tells me too!"), so I don't bother anymore. If anyone asks me why I'm an
atheist, I'll gladly explain, but there's no way I'm setting up myself for the kill.

Well, I guess I'm joining this guild myself, but I wanted to ask your opinion on this. Do you think it would be a good, sincere gesture if I changed my signature? Ordinarily, I wouldn't care much what people thought of it, but at the risk of offending people, I'd rather not give a distinctly negative impression.

Hey, look at my signature, you think that's any better? Besides, I've seen signatures bashing everything from atheists to Zoroastrianism (no, not really, I just needed something that started with the letter Z). Your signature is a place to show your thoughts, and if that's what you're thinking, good for you.
